LOL,, what ? Why would the Cardinal lose to Virginia ? they just beat the Trojans and is riding high with big time momentum. They could beat wake forest right now if they played. Momentum is a huge factor in tennis, we all know this.

Also Virginia lost to notle dame.... LOL

I dont know if I see Texas losing to Illinois. Texas beat UNC indoors, and UNC is better than Illinois. Also Illinois lost to UNC. Alex Brown seems to be struggling this year after a great freshman year. Kovacevic may be playing his best tennis yet-cant believe he beat Blumberg, but it will take a team effort to beat the Longhorns. They do have a chance since it is indoors. I watched Kovacevic and Clark playing NCAAs as freshmen in Athens in 2017 and all the team energy and excitement. Now they are team leaders. Would like to see Illini win but will be tough battle.

The other 1st round prediction I am not sure about is UNC/Baylor. That match seem like it will be 4-3 battle with either team coming up on top. Both teams have some great players. Roy Smith seems to play better in Challengers than at duals. He will have to bring his Challenger game to beat UNC. Blumberg/Smith match should be fun to watch.

In the 2nd round, I think Wake/UCLA will be closer. Maybe it will be a 4-3 toss up too.

I dont see any team but OSU winning indoors....

Yeah, I expect two or three 4-3 matches in the opening round. Don't know where they'll come from, but there will be some tight matches for sure. Except Ohio State. They'll cruise though. Sorry Tulane.

Yeah, I’m not sure about the Illini beating Texas either. Brown has been struggling because he’s mostly been playing at the top of the lineup. Kovacevic is playing great at the moment, but he’s not your typical #1 guy either.

The Illini have a lot of good players, but they need a stronger #1 player. Maybe they should find a foreign stud? Texas fields an all foreign lineup.

Tseng, Nakashima, Museti, to name a few.

Montsi should be better outside or later in the season. He played a lot of $15ks in midEast and Africa. Has to be an adjustment starting in Jan coming from where it's summer to extremely cold Illinois, starting classes, playing on a different surface (indoors) with different scoring. Players have to tweak their game going from ads to no ads-changing from playing long points to quick points indoors. Saw he lost in 3 to Gio of Miss State in Jan in AZ so he can be competitive at a high college level. However at MLK exhibition in Atlanta, it took him 3 sets to beat GT's line 6. Bet Illinois will gradually put him in and move him up the lineup-could end up at 4. Agree with the poster who said llinois has no true top 20 #1 this year.

I agree with most of what you have. I really can't make up my mind who will win between Florida and USC. SC has had a tough week, but I think they will rebound and play well in the tournament. I also think Texas may edge out Illinois, but lose to Florida or USC.

poor Stanford....could ve easier draw in 1st round
Illininois is homecourt, i could see them beating Texas
Yes the draw is rigged. Illini gets the easiest opponent being the lower seed. where as Cardinal gets very tough under-rated Virginia team. What is going on here ?

OSU just killed Stanford and USC....from the Pac12 Powerhouse....
they got lucky at home with their home crowd going crazy. this time at neutral court, it will be different. also this is 2nd meeting if they meet, and they learned all the weakness of OSU and now have the perfect plan to beat them easily

Nostradamus

They’re good players, but not top of the lineup. Both will probably play anywhere from 4-6, assuming no injuries. I’m expecting Gomes to find his way into the lineup at some point, too.
People who are actually going there to see the event, it looks like from the webcams, there is no place to sit and watch the event for some of the courts. This is pretty ridiculous

Texas is easy? And Stanford should whoop on Virginia right?
Illinois did beat the PAC-12 elite UCLA yesterday at midtown. It was such a bad bad shame that their WEBCAM kept on freezing. that really sucks. They better fix that before Stanford match on Friday or I am launching a official complaint to ITA that midtown never host this event ever again.

Nacho, this is hilarious,, Look at these court assignments for the matches for higher seeded teams and lower seeded teams, this mean Not all 6 singles will be played at the same time. That is so bad because these guys thrive on pulling for each other as they play......

Court 7 - Doubles Line 2; Singles Line 3

Court 8 - Doubles Line 3; Singles Line 5

Match #2 Courts:

I still have no idea why they choose to play this in a Gentleman's club, instead of at one of the many amazing tennis facilities on a host campus....

Yes, you should complain, never would happen out West. Texas is underrated, or we will see what they are made of this weekend. Illinois is a really good team, I actually wish they were using their facility instead of this Midtown club...

Does Illinois have 12 indoor courts in Champaign?

They have 6, and there is another club nearby, play consolation rounds there....Illinois did a nice job hosting the NCAA's a few years ago, Atkins is a great place to watch a college match, and they host a bunch of ATP events there as well....

Where's Roy Smith and Benitez for Baylor who were on submitted lineup for 1 and 2? Sick? Injured? Roy Smith played in NY 5 days ago... Was looking forward to Smith/Blumberg match.

Because the club is in Chicago, easily accessible. While Illinois campus is like 4 hrs drive away

Yeah, they only live stream 6, but all courts play at the same time. The schedule seems pretty solid. Everything's on time, and there's about a 20-30 minute break before the next session starts.

The great thing about hosting at that club is that you can sit essentially next to player's bench. And the acoustics are such that hits are like cannon shots.
They may be just a tad above 4.5 ttw player. Just by a whisker [emoji6]

It was actually closer then the scores would suggest. Axel had set points to even the match, he lost those and never won another game. If he did get it to the 3rd set they're was hope since I think Stanford would have won on court 2.anyway does not matter much, the winner faces Ohio and no one is beating them
