Topspin, have you played with the Technifibre Tflash 300 PS? I find it similar to the pure drive but more elbow friendly. I have placed a leather grip on mine and added 2 grams at 12 and 2 grams at 2/10. Its current weight is 334. I don't know what the swing weight is. Groundies have power but serving wise it's lacking compared to my Angell custom (original) 320/12pt 97 with leather grip. This is why i have an interest in the ASL3
No, never hit with the TF 300 but interestingly a hitting buddy just got it as a demo. So perhaps I’ll try it for a little bit when we hit on Sunday.

Hi, I made a seperate post about this, but figured I'd ask here too. I'm considering joining your ranks. Trying to decide between the K7 Lime, TC97, or TC95 (both in 18x20 ). Could someone who has hit with either two or all of them give me a short breakdown? Thank you. I'm coming from a LM Radical mp

I played with all 3 frames very extensively. I earlier posted a comparison between these 3 frames. They are great frames that you can't go wrong with.
The TC95 63RA might have the most addictive feel to me. The TC97 18x20 has a more pronounced crisper feel that I don't like as much as the TC95. At the moment I play with the K7 Lime because it is the easiest frame that still has a very nice touch/feel as well. The K7 has a more muted feel because of the aramid fibre carbon that reminds me of the feel of the Völkl C10 Pro.

Agree with @Gee except that I’ve never hit with TC97. Between TC95/63 and Lime, keep in mind that the difference is marginal here, TC serves bigger and hits with authority in stock form. Leaded Lime can get close but nothing serves better than the 95. To me, the feel is different but they’re both similarly addictive.

I play mostly doubles these days, and I find the Lime is easier to play with, more forgiving. Volleys, fast exchanges at the net, reflex pick up shots etc are easier. Mine has 4g added near 10/2. So it depends on your game, level, and style of play.

Somewhat erratic...yet decent night doing live ball drills with the TC95/Black Pearl Rough. I think it needs some breaking in as well as my technique. The soggy socal winter has limited my court time.

First impressions or the BPR
-low power
-able to swing away
-low launch angle
-below my likes for feel/feedback
-decent spin
-slick coating
***nice hitting with the TC95 again.

What journey did you go on that drifted you away from Angell?

I may have convinced Angelo Oehms to be his distributer in Chicago :D

I already installed an Oehms Premium leather (the dark brown one) on my K7 Lime and I just received another two ones. They are indeed very nice soft and solid leather grips :)

Nice! Where can I get a test sample? I have yet to purchase from fleabay, last time I got mine were directly from Oehms website a couple of years ago (same ones I fell in love with) but don't want to go that route, package took a few weeks to come from Germany. Btw, are these the new ones that have different texture?

Also curious to know differences between Premium, Retro and Pro leather grips available with Oehms

Edit: nevermind I just remembered had email chain with Angelo from a couple of years ago when I got all my Oehms stuff. Will send him a quick email and update here once I hear back. Hope his email hasn't changed since then.

I was just joking, i purchased these from the Oehms site. They are the premium in dark brown which is the one that will go away. The lighter brown is the Pro which is also pretty good, just not as soft. It is still pretty good compared to lots of other grips. I did get two sample grips before which are supposed to be the new grips that will replace the dark brown premium. I used one on the ASL and no complaints really, feel is good and bevels well pronounced with OG.

Got a TC100 300g (unstrung), 70 RA racquet. What is the best string/tension setup?
And how does it compare to 63RA version?

lol, I get it now. I really thought you were going to be my go to leather grip guy ;) - also how long did it take for them to arrive to you in Chi Town? I am hoping the logistics have gotten better.

No, for whatever reason DHL is super duper slow compared to anything else!

Yes, the premium dark brown is really the best! I got a bunch thinking it was going to be gone :X3:
This is what Angelo wrote to me this morning

"Our classic brown nappa grip is back and if you ask me, it's the best leather grip on the market. Just great!
The guy producing for us has a new supplier. In the future, we will have brown in nappa (classic) and in suede"

Don’t roll your eyes when you read this :p I know thinner strings are all the rage these days. There is most certainly something to be said for thicker strings in open patterns. I had tried the Tour XC 1.35 in the ASL but not in TC95. Hit with a buddy yesterday and just thought nice, this is certainly a bit more control and precision. It’s like my TC95 string bed is a little tighter now. So I played my match today with it and i really can’t find once single bad thing about it. In fact, it got me to play super aggressive and swing out of my shoes and i was hitting my targets. And anyone who says it’s not conducive to heavy spin, well produced for me no problem.

Wouldn’t the 18x20 tc95 with say 17g poly control the launch angle and spin, or is the 18x20 really closed?

Interesting as I prefer thinner strings, I have some minor problems with my new TC100 v3, too much power and sometimes my forehand will fly (stringbed seems to be a little erratic), perhaps trying a thicker guage string could be a solution. I need a little more control (or perhaps I just need to give the TC100 more time), so I have been thinking about the TC95. Backhand, slice, serve, volley is all better, but I dont seem to be able to dial in my forehand.

@topspn any advice would be helpful

Cheers, Toby

I never have any issues with flying shots with the tc100 (V2), I have always used full bed poly 16g or hybrid poly with say origin or hdx tour x's, mains always 16g strings. I also love using lower powered control strings, like max power.
You could always try adding some weight like in the handle blu tac e.t.c.

Before I got my TC100 v3 I borrowed my friends TC100 v2 (different spec v2: 320/305 v3: 315/310) and the v2 was flying even more, to me the v3 is a great upgrade. I might be used to a 18x20 stringbed and feel I need more control on my forehand - or you are just a much better player that hits the sweet spot all the time :). Did you ever hit with the TC95 ? as I understand the TC95 is much like the TC100 but with more control ?

I did change grips and added some weight in the handle to get to my preferred spec.

I really don't like poly strings after a severe TE, so I always have the same string setup (gut/multi) and same tension.

I just godt a demo of the Clash Tour, with almost same spec as the TC100, so it will be interesting to hit those two racquets back to back tomorrow and to see what all the hype is about with the Clash.

Cheers, T

It's usually the tc95 16x19 that takes a month or two to get used to.. the tc100's usually are pick up and play frames I feel. They are open patterns, but nothing drastic. Give it more time, change strings / tension balance and report back! :)

Spoken like a true holic hahaha ;-) My tc100 is getting restrung with cyclone tour 16g, can't wait to get her back. Hoping to try the new prince tour 100 310 and maybe 290 in the next few weeks to compare to the tc100

Please report back on the Prince 310 as I have that one in sight too

Has anyone tried the ProKennex Ki Q Tour Pro 325? That looks almost identical to K7 Lime on paper. I’m at Indian Wells and it’s $10 cheaper, strung for free with any poly, at the tennis warehouse store here. Nothing wrong with the Lime so [emoji2371]

I have both, PK is obviously around 10g heavier, very solid frame. Crisper and less muted, power and control pretty similar from what I can remember although I gravitate toward more open patterns so haven't hit with it in a while.

Great frame, I'd say I probably prefer it to the Lime tbh.

All things equal, a thicker string will give you a bit more control and precision as it will close the string pattern a tiny bit. I know thinner strings feels very responsive but it’s also what makes them a bit erratic and to launchy when used in an open pattern. TC100 does need a good feeling control string and in my opinion not less then 16g.

Thanks @topspn I will try that out first, my string setup is NG / Isospeed Professional classic 24/25 (like in all my frames, then it is easier to compare frames), and then I will give the TC100 a month or two to dial in, now it is indoor Hard Court and I guess TC100 can be a great frame outdoor on Clay.

How would you compare TC100 vs TC95 in terms of power, control and stability ?

Cheers, Toby

How does the handle of the K7 lime compare to the K7 Red? I normally have size 3, but find size 3 of the Red a little big bigger than normal and would have preferred a size 2 here.
So I wonder which size I should take for the lime

TC100 and 95 are very much same frames with some differences in beam width and head size. So as you’d expect the 100 plays with a bit more forgiveness and 95 with a bit more control and precision. They both hammer the ball so have that dictating power quality and are great on serve.

Well PPC 16 Black @55/52 was still a little too much pop for me to handle in my tc100. I sometimes had a little trouble gauging the depth of my shots with so much power on tap with a clean stroke. On the plus side I did end up winning my match against a rival school at #1 position after breaking my strings midway through the second, saving matchpoint along the way. I think I need something with which I won’t feel the need to soften up my stroke to control the ball (and end up hitting a short ball). I think velocity/cream might be a good experiment at ~53/51. I haven’t played w/ cream before so it could be a bit of an experiment. I wonder about the durability in such an open pattern though. On another note, I seem to just keep adding weight to this frame. Final weight w/ OG and strings should be over 350 grams by now.

Always hit with my coaches' Angell TC100 when I have the chance. Extended length, 310g or so... Pure bliss. Would I buy one? Don't have the money haha.
Surprised I don't see any pros using them? If there are, or are not, anybody care to enlighten me?

Quick q, this may have been discussed already, but this thread is massive....

How can you tell the difference between the TC handle shapes/types, if the spec label on the inside of the throat did not specify? (Type A, B & C)

Also, what handle type are on the K7 and ASL?

Is there a photo to show the different shapes?

Thanks.

pros get paid big endorsements by the big companies to play with their rackets, I do not think Angell has that kind of funds to sign up pros.

The Angell A shape is the same as Head.

The Angell B Shape is a generic octagon as used by Wilson, Babolat, Dunlop etc.

The Angell C shape is the same as Prince

Will the butt cap be different between the different shapes?
How about the K7 and ASL, which shape are they closest to?
I suspect my K7 and TC100 butt caps are the same shape/size (both L3 too)

Unfortunately I don’t feel like my tendons could take full poly for some months to come. Right now I’m just trying to find the right balance between softness and low power level.

Try full bed velocity 1.30,the closest multi to poly, low power , nice spin and control
