Hi guys

Please could you help me decide what you think I should probably add to my collection based on what I have already? I am relatively new to the ‘racket-a-holic’ game but my obsession needs feeding some more lol!

Already in my collection are;

Head:
Pro Tour 630
i.Prestige MP
Prestige Microgel MP
Radical Tour 630 (‘Bumblebee’)
Radical Tour Twintube 630 (‘Zebra’)
Radical Tour Twintube 630 (‘Candycane’)
Ti.Radical MP (x2)
i.Radical MP
Radical Liquidmetal MP (China version)

Dunlop:
Revelation 200g MP (x2)
Revelation Select Pro MP
Revelation Tour Techline MP
Muscle Weave 200g MP
Hotmelt 200g MP

Slazenger:
Pro Braided Henman Signature Series MP (Black/silver/gold version)

Yonex:
RD7 Mid-size

Wilson:
Hyper Pro Staff 6.1 95

I’m considering a Head Lite Tour 630 and a Technifibre Tfight 315 Limited, should I bother??

Cheers all!

From the classic frames, I would suggest you to look for the Wilson Ultra 2 (*preferably the St. Vincent version without the plastic collar), Max 200G Pro (*the paint job is better than the regular Max200G, imo), and one of the Prince's classic frames such as the POG Mid & OS or the Spectrum Comp 90 or 110.

From the newer ones, the Pacific Xfeel Pro 95 and the IGPM seems to be good choices, as well as the POG 100 MP.

Maybe a monobeam frame could compliment your collection, as well.

Thanks for the awesome suggestions so far guys! Yes, I certainly need a Prince of some kind, I hadn’t thought of an Ultra 2 and I’m definitely after a Fischer! The Pacific racket seems to slip under the radar!

I’ve added a few more rackets;

Wilson Pro Staff Classic 6.1 and a couple of Dunlops - M-Fil 200 and Biomimetic 300.

I just can’t refuse racket bargains!

I don't know it was a Mid version of RD-7. What's the head size?

Wilson ProStaff 6.0 85 is a good classic to have ;) so is the Dunlop Max 200g that McRoe used to play with.

I agree that you need to get some classic Prince frames! Also you need to build up the Wilson side of your collection with some Tour 90's

Why do you need help to decide what to get next??

I ran out of ideas in terms of other classic rackets to add to my collection. I thought I’d consult the wealth of knowledge on this forum to make sure I’m not missing out.

Do you have any suggestions? I notice you may be into Yonex...

It doesn't look like a classic collection to me, some of those rackets appear quite modern. Do you play with them or just collect them??? I have four rackets and think I have two to many. I wouldn't say I am into Yonex however I do like the Yonex dr 98. It is the only racket I have liked enough to buy another one the same. ,so I have two.

I’ve been at it again the last few weeks, I’ve amassed a few more rackets! I clearly have a bit of a racket hoarding problem going on. I’ve now added;

Head:
i.Prestige
Fusion Tour Twintube MP

Dunlop:
Revelation 200g MP (I now have x3)
Hotmelt 300g
M-Fil 200
Biomimetic 300

Wilson:
Pro Staff Classic 6.1 95
Hyper Pro Staff 6.1

Here are the photos of my new purchases, plus the rackets I hadn’t pictured before:

Depends on what you regard as ‘classic’? Perhaps my collection is more of a selection of modern classics, although the Pro Tour 630 is obviously approximately 25 years old. The newest racket is the Biomimetic 300 at around 9 years old. Yes, play with them all, not just to be looked at and fondled with.

I’ve heard that the Yonex Ezone DR98 is held in high regard, would you say it’s remotely similar to the old RD-7? Thanks for the suggestion!

Clearly you are going about collecting rackets differently than I do. Although I do have some idea what I would like to try, I am restraining myself from bidding on the bay. Seems any old or junk were fetching $30 to $40. And I got burn a couple of times getting not so good a deal. Since the journey is what I am after, I have the most pleasure out of racket hunting in local recycling center. My latest find was two unstrung Prince Michael Chang Graphite OS in very nice but used condition.

Whatever you are going for.. Enjoy the journey!

I’ve added a few more rackets over the last few months, namely, a Head Prestige Classic 600 (finished in CZ) in quite astonishing condition, YouTek IG Prestige MP in as new condition, Pro Lite Tour and Microgel Radical MP both in very nice condition, and finally, another (pretty battered) Slazenger Pro Braided that I got uber cheap.

I’m running out of ideas now, I still haven’t got a Head Lite Tour 630 and almost had a mint condition Prestige Pro (USA Version) but was outbid. Maybe I should look at prostocks!

I’ll stick a picture up soon of my latest acquisitions.

No, nothing that's currently for sale is remotely similar to the rd-7. The rd-7 resembles more to the max 200g than to the Ezone. The Super RD tour 95 is the bridge between the rd-7 and modern rackets.

Sorry, not to threadjack.. but what is the R-30 Rexboron then? I know it’s much older.. but have have not seen another one.

Just a quick update, added a few more rackets since my last post. Will do a few pictures of the latest batch when I get them all together.

I’m really running out of ideas now, wouldn’t say no to a couple more select Head and Dunlop models though at the right price, then, perhaps it’s finally time to add a few prostocks...

To photograph;

Slazenger:
Pro Braided (Trinity) (I have x2 of these now)
Phantom Tour Braided

Head:
Prestige Tour Classic 600 (Finished in Czech)
Pro Lite Tour
Prestige YouTek IG MP
Radical Microgel MP
Prestige Liquidmetal MP
Prestige Flexpoint MP

What to add next...Decisions, decisions.

I'm kind of a graphite collector like you, so here my two cents:

No graphite collection is complete without a Wilson PS Mid, or 6.0 85 - you should look at 1st. series, made in Chicago (bumperless) or the most iconic ones, the St. Vincents version. If you're in the US you should be fine looking at these

Another one from Wilson is RF's 90 Sq. I. PS's, and I mean the Tour 90, the N-Code, and the K.
On the 6.1's side, you're doing fine, the Classic and the HPS are the ones to have, and I would include there the N-Code too, but that's a personal choice because it's my favorite looking 6.1. There's also a niche racquet that Wilson build for a short period that I'm betting on it as a future classic, the KPS 88

Now, from Head. Where's the Prestige Mid, or 600 Classic, Made in Austria? That's the one you have to search for. The iPrestige Mid and MP are very collectible too, I see you already got an MP, so go for the Mid. I sold one last year, but just because I didn't like the way it plays, specially compared to the 600 Classic. Than you have loads of cool Head racquets from the 80's you should look at, including the previous generations of the Prestige

From Dunlop: MW and Rev. 200g 95 are very cool, but you should point to the 90 sq.i. version of the 200G, it's a very Prestige Mid like racquet and very cool. And than, "the" iconic classic graphite Dunlop: the Max 200G, this a must have

From Prince, there's at least two "must have": the POG's (both mid and oversize) and the Diablo's (mid and MP)

Volkl: a C-10 Pro and all the 10 series of Volkl are very cool classic feeling racquets.

From Puma, any of Becker's, or the G. Villas are highly collectibles

Yonex: an R-22 is a classic, probably the most iconic classic Yonex, but there are others that I don't know (not my favorite type of racquets)

From Fischer: the Stich's Vacuum Pro 90, and the red Pro Nr. 1 are cool racquets

Than you have the 80's graphites in general, some are real unicorns (finding a Wilson Javelin is almost impossible), some are rare but thew show up, like Lendl's Adidas GTX Pro or Mid, and the Kneissl White Star; all Rossignol's are collectible, but the F-200 is the most iconic one, because of M. Wilander.

Can't remember anything more, for now

Hope this was helpful.

Good luck on your hunt

Wow! Thanks for the comprehensive reply. Lots of options I hadn’t really considered there. I quite fancy a couple of the Wilsons you mentioned and the Heads, MIA Prestige 600 has to be up there and a Prestige Mid of some kind. Perhaps for something different, the Volkl C-10 Pro and a Fischer.

Thanks again for taking the time to put that list together, I’ll see what I can find out there and do another update soon.

Absolutely. Keep up your good work, and keeps us updated about your new finds

I remember a couple other ones: the Equijet from Lacoste, a couple of Donnays (PC 1 is must have) and even Babolat, a brand that I hate, I like first generation PD, and specially the Pure Control - there's also the Soft Drive, that Moya and Nadal played with back in the day.
And Pro Kennex: get yourself a Redondo Mid, or even an MP, very cool classics too

Here’s an old thread about the racket:

I know I own one but to be honest, I’m not entirely sure of the exact specs other than it’s a 660 rather than a 630 but still classed as a MP, weight around 340g(ish). I wouldn’t say it’s head light, @vsbabolat is probably your guy for this.

Which model of Pure Control is best, literally the first generation? I’ve quite fancied getting a Pure Storm especially a Ltd version. I almost got a PK Redondo MP the once but got outbid, I was very pissed lol!
