Novak Djokovic to get to Federer's 20 Majors. It's crazy - Tommy Haas

I did not expect this from Tommy Haas:

For the former world No. 2 Tommy Haas, Novak Djokovic is likely to reach Roger Federer's 20 Grand Slam titles record.

The Serbian player holds 15 crowns, five less than the Swiss, but Haas believes Djokovic will play for many more seasons. “You say, ‘Well, hold on now' He’s 31. If he stays healthy another four, five, six years and wants to continue to play and dedicate his life to it, he can play another 20-24 slams.

Let’s say he wins five or six of them. I mean, he’s right there with Roger. It’s kind of crazy", said the BNP Paribas Open Tournament Director. Brad Gilbert, the ESPN analyst, added: “When we saw him at Indian Wells and Miami last year was probably like the lowest we had ever seen him playing at his level. He’s playing as well as he was when he did the last Djoker Slam, if not better."

It's clear that Djokovic has a shot at it, especially if he ends this year as a multi slam winner and Federer doesn't win Wimbledon.
With Nadal now clearly too injury prone i think Djokovic almost certain to win W and USO this year and only Thiem stands in his way at FO. Djokovic will end his career as GOAT. I am certain of it. As a Rafa fan its disappointing but Nole is such a humble genuine nice guy that i can also be happy for him.

Lets not write Nadal's eulogy just yet. Hopefully he will be ready to go on the clay, and let them fight out.

Nadal is different beast on clay. Let's see what happens at the RG first.;)

I think both Federer and Novak will play into their 40s. What Rosewall and Connors can do, they can do better because they are all around better players. Nadal needs to seriouly cut down his non-clay play time. Even then, it is hard to see him playing past 40.

Nothing wrong with what Haas said. Reasonable speculation

He needs to close the gap with Fed at least some this year. If Djok and Fed each win one more this year or neither win any more this year I can't see it happening. If Djok wins two and Fed wins one, or Djok wins 1-2 and Fed none (especially then), it could happen.

I do think Djok is going to at least tie Nadal tho

When it comes to Djokovic catching Fed, it’s basically in the hands of the young players. If one or more manages to make a serious leap over the next year or two, there’s a tiny chance he might not get there. Failing that, Djokovic will pass 20 with something to spare. He’s a great tennis player and the field (apart from old Fed and injury prone Nadal) is currently nowhere near him

To also give perspective on where Djokovic is now, good to remember that just 5 years ago he was at 6 slams.

Adding 5-6 slams if he plays into his late thirties like Fed is doing now isn’t out of the realm if the competition continues to flounder.

Eat your heart out OP.

"He uses the slice, he serves and volleys, so he stays unpredictable. He plays with his head. Many players can think they are as good as Federer, but in the end, no opponent can equal him. He is the best player ever by far.

Really? How old are you now? Wish you all the best.
I'm mid thirties. I say that because of the pattern he's been on for a while. How many more retirements and withdrawals can he go through from a mental standpoint? It has to be weighing on him by now. Recovery is getting tougher and tougher. We'll see, I could be wrong.
