Is anyone else a wee bit worried about Fed today?

I know that on paper Fed shouldn't have too much trouble with Albot but I have a sneaky feeling he might have to put in a bit of an effort to get the win and it is by no means guaranteed. It all really depends on which Fed shows up these days.

The closest in style of Albot’s opponents to fedr in this HC run is Evans, who he had to go 9-7 in a decisive TB for the title in Delray. fedr serves better than Evans and actually hits a topspin backhand.

fedr in 2.

I saw fed play live 5 times in last year and he is so erratic

He's tanking so far, just as he did last year against Kokk. You can't see how blatant this is? Roger is playing at about 35% of his IW practice level. There's no injury, there's just zero motivation on his slow court for the third week in a row. Let's see if he starts trying later in the match.

If Broadway Joe can guarantee it, certainly Fed can

He waited until halfway through the third set to get confidence in his backhand. Albot basically tried to do the same thing that Thiem did to Fed at Indian Wells, but didn't have the goods at the end. Fed finally started going down the line aggressively with his backhand at 4-3 in the 3rd, did not have the confidence to do it before then. If he had done that against Thiem at the IW final, it would have been a different match result.

Doubt that. He looked to me like he was pissed at himself. He knew going in this guy was a risk and he couldn't find his range at all. I don't think he was moving well either. Just glad he won this one.

I think Fed was in a late night party yesterday with his sponsors. He had a hangover and barely got through.

He could have won easily even if converted that freaking breakpoint in III game of the second set

He was trying that shot against Thiem and netting them time after time again as I recall. The Thiem match really was lost on backhand errors.

Even now, after the match has finished, I still don't know who Albot is. Apparently he's not even from Romania, as I thought.

Notice how Fed didn't even bother to go for the FH volley in the last point?

Fed finally wakes up. Let's see if he holds serve now to open the third.

I think he tried to lose the match but his competitive instincts kicked in during the third set.
