so you think he can upset Federer, one of the smartest players on tour and he is a teen player killer. Roger eats them for brunch
Federer lost to teenage Nadal on hard court in Miami when he was at his peak. Felix is stronger than teenage Nadal on hard court and Roger is not peak anymore. Don't be shocked if results don't go the way you think they will.

Since I'm a French Canadian from Montreal like Felix and I've seen him play since he was a kid, but I'm also a Fed fan, a Felix vs Fed final would create a "who do I root for" issue for me. But since I'm first and foremost a tennis fan, the answer would probably be "good tennis". :)

Right but Roger is so so Smart now. He saw that Felix will soon become top 50 guys so he invited Felix to Dubai to practice with him in winter time. So now he knows all the weaknesses and breakdowns of Felix. Roger knows felix now better than felix knows himself

There are tremendous possibilities for FAA from what I've seen in IW/Miami. Whether he is ready to win a big tournament I'm not sure. He looks very stable from a mental standpoint which is his greatest strength imo besides the obvious talent. The scariest thing is that he can get better by improving his serve. Djokovic and Nadal better hope he doesn't put it all together anytime soon because when or if he does, it's over for them.

He is younger, faster, and stronger than Djokodal at this point. Once he matures they don't stand a chance. Age is about to become very relevant for ********s.

Did Felix benefit from practicing with Roger in Dubai in winter ? He is different player. Does everybody improve this much after they practice with Federer ?

That's how I feel about it too. FAA may be able to beat the best of them at the moment when it comes to trading groundstrokes. But if Federer comes out playing his usual smart self (as opposed to dumb Federer who made an appearance against Thiem), he will make Felix look like 150 ranked player.

He lost to Eubanks at the AO. That was a bad loss to a guy he should not have lost to at that point and who he beat just a few months earlier at the USO, pre-Fed lessons.

And I wish some of these young guys would decline practicing with The GOAT. It’s a trap. He invites you out to practice. He probably picks up the entire tab. You get to know him a bit and you see he’s a genuinely nice guy. He sizes up your game. Maybe he dangles the possibility of some Laver Cup money your way. Then he kicks your arse when you meet on the court for a real match. A Young Connors or JMac would never fall for this.

But the thing is that we do not know how long he practiced with Federer and he was injury while training so it wasn't completed. Felix training with Federer at 17 years old during winter time is not the same Felix at 18 at Miami. With very little tour experience and guys is bigger and stronger than Felix and he managed to beat them at their own game. I have a feeling that Felix will throw a different side of his game than they trained together. Too many guys testing Felix's backhand but his holding well and can go pound for pound with whatever they try to do a backhand battles, Felix could hold them together and get them deep in while returning. Roger might test him with his weakness but I believe that even with his weakness, he has improved his own weakness. Keep in mind that golden swing in South America has helped Felix more than anything when considering that he is a hard court player and he was able to beat clay courter during his time in South America. This helped him translate into hard court well especially in Miami with slow condition. This is not the same Felix when Roger trained with him so that he could exploit him. His movement has improved as he getting older and he will expose Roger if Felix knows his weakness as well.

I'd eaten all sorts of stuff when I was younger. My growing age practically took some food items from in front of me. I know, I know that I am no Roger but Bro who's never played in Miami. But we all are made of the same stuff, aren't we?

Not to mention inviting you to dinner and wine tasting. You feel so warm and appreciated by the Great One who shows such genuine interest in you. In no time you are best of friends with him and like him so much.

One time after FEDR was done with a practice session that I was watching I think he may have smiled in my general direction (though he may have been squinting from the sun) and people said I looked like I was glowing afterwards. :giggle: Imagine being 18 and invited to practice with him in Dubai.

This is one of the best analysis I have ever read on this forum

If you are up and coming 18 year old tour player, can you really turn down a offer from the GOAT to practice with him ? you might have to face the wrath of the GOAT for the rest of your career

Doesn't matter, because Nadal is stronger on HC as a matchup versus Federer. Even teen Nadal posed huge problems for peak Federer on HC. Ironically even teen Murray, they had actually winning h2h versus peak Fed, this is funny considering they didn't win a single match versus Fed since 2014.

That is a sign of mental weakness form the goat. Why would you show your game to younger players who will use this information against you in big matches? Plus they will also improve as a result of practising versus the goat.
Thinking is contagious. If you spend a lot of time with the goat, you start believing he is human and that you are as good as him, gives you motivation and mentality. Plus you can learn skills from the goat. Always in history is how great men have fallen, they let lesser guys too close.

Reading the above, I am hoping you're a fat 57 year old balding man...

...It just makes for a hilarious visual :D

To Federer, it is the other way around. Roger knows Felix's weaknesses now and he can pick it apart at his leisure in next encounter. Roger has no weakness so he has nothing to worry about. Plus, roger only shows his practice partners only what he wants them to see
