Not sure if other people will agree with this, but in the case of a racquet like the 6.1 Classic there's the question of measurable stiffness VS 'feel'. While it's a stiffer racquet even by today's standards (it was what, a 70 RA?) the fact that it's made primarily of graphite (along with the shape and dimensions of the beam) gives it a more compliant flex profile than say something from the modern area with a more, hmmm...creative...construction in terms of frame shape and materials. A stiffer graphite racquet will feel 'crisp' rather than the tinny, cheap-feeling characteristics most modern stiff racquets have.

I played with a 6.1 classic, i wasnt very consistent with it. Didnt feel like you could swing freely with it, especially compared to my current stick.

nice oberservation, i will tend to agree with that given my loyalty to the 6.1

one caveat, add weight to these modern stiff frames and the plow through will impress you

old player's frames can have stiff layups, it's just due to the materials used

conversely, some modern player's frame are quite flexible...

flexibility is not a frame characteristic that is limited to era, contrary to popular belief

I'm not familiar with H19 or H22 but have read that a lot of people think they are great. How does the 6.1 compare to these pro stocks?

I’ve never hit a Wilson pro stock but it’s neat that the 6.1 is itself a pro stock. Especially the 6.1 Classic and HPS.

Oh yeah? But aren't all pro stocks made differently? Even though the 6.1 is on tour and not just a cover up, isn't the players racquet made with better quality materials?

I’m sure they're usually made with the highest quality Garpahite under the strictest quality control standards. But for non-pros, I doubt it’ll make much of a difference.

the 6.1 can feel inconsistent sometimes.....but I feel that's on the player....when I'm firing well on timing and rhs ....this racquet rewards....its when my fitness and my strokes are off balance or weak...that this racquet punishes you.....rightfully so :)

take it on safari ??? not a fan: but you know, new paint is how they sell these things......

and yes 10000 times...pls..pls Wilson bring back the 6.1 16x18...mine are all wearing out and I can't find parallel drilled grommets for the blx3 (and last 16x18).

any of you guys find anything in a racquet that has the 6.1 feel (16x18..or close) ? ( the RF I don't like as much as 6.1...so that's out)

There is literally one set of replacement grommets for the blx3 on the big auction site right now (starts with 'eb', ends with 'ay.' not my auction).

I've stockpiled some 6.1s ... hopefully they'll last a while.

I do not think you can generalize like that. But I am pretty sure they are higher in quality control (more uniform specs), and that they are normally free of any "gizmo technology" that could be on newer retail rackets, including changing weight distributions.

Perhaps 18/20 could give you a bit more consistancy?

If the pros shoes are made different with better materials, I am certain their racquets are not of the same material as retail.

Reminds me that the last time I heard of it, Andrea Petkovic was playing with a 6.1 Team. A 6 string bridge with 18 mains is not that common nowadays.

Was watching Edmund-Evans and suddenly realized there was a (brief) 6.1 battle going on. Also congrats to RBA on his recent Austrian Open title win.

Maybe an odd place to note this but Siniakova took down the reigning Wimbledon champ Rybakina 6-7 7-6 6-4 to win the Slovenia Open, a day after playing 2 matches on Saturday due to rain delays. She's also won 3 of 4 Grand Slam doubles titles this year, all with some flavor of 6.1 in hand.

I just find it such an curious choice for a WTA player ... I don't think anyone else uses a racquet that small.

Great performance by Sini. She absorbed the pace from rybakina and then hit a few of her own.

It's supposed to be the HPS version I think, so 10% 'hyper-carbon' and 90% graphite-kevlar, so I guess quite stiff?
