After Nishikori and Del Potro, these two guys were expected to be the next big thing and usurp Fedalovic. Of course, that didn't happen, but they've both come close. While Raonic reached the Wimbledon final in 2016, defeating Federer in a memorable 5-set epic, and made numerous quarters and semis, Dimitrov won the World Championship on his only attempt in 2017 and has a M1000 to his name. Both finished one year at #3, Raonic in 2016 behind Murray and Djokovic, and Dimitrov in 2017 behind Nadal and Federer. Who has had the more accomplished career?

Raonic. 0 Masters and no WTF but Dimitrov is done while Raonic can at least match Isner's 30+ swing.
Hit the nail on the head. Raonic's game is built on efficiency while Dimitrov's is much more athletic. Efficiency doesn't diminish with age, but athleticism does.

Del Potro is not Lost Gen. He is part of the Djokodal + Murray generation.

On topic, Dimitrov. Can't argue with 2 big titles.

LMAO. These two don't deserve a thread, especially Raonic. And we are going to somehow give credit to him for beating a one legged, 35 year Fed in 5 sets ?

The knee didn't seem to bother Federer too much in that match itself, it was only after the tournament that we realized how serious it was. Federer was still playing as well as ever in that match. So yes, especially considering he had reached the last 2 finals.
Also if you want to play that game, Raonic was crushing Murray at AO16 before his injury flared up and he tailed off. It's not a stretch to say he would've beaten Murray and reached the final if he wasn't injured.

Obviously they have accomplished nothing and they're not worth anyone's interest seeing as they won't be at least Tier 2 ATGs no?

Well, make up your mind about what game you want to play. You seem to be arguing for an uninjured Federer at 2016 Wimbledon to make Raonic look good vs an injured Raonic at 2016 AO to make Murray look bad. Are you sure you're being entirely objective?

My point is that the knee problem became serious after the tournament, not during the match. If I were using his injury at AO16 as an excuse, I would've declared him 2-time finalist because he "would've won". I didn't because hypotheticals aren't objective.

To this point, Dimitrov has had the better career, but Raonic is the better player and will end with the better career imo.

well, well. Career wise DimiThePrettyBoy is better but Clark Kent is OK too. I would not compare them really. They will probably never win majors. It's always difficult to explain talent though. Clark Kent is working harder but DimiThePretty IMO is a more 'watchable' player when he is on.

Efficiency pushes you to the limit still. You just get more out of your potential, dimitrov can grow to become more efficient but raonic will struggle to improve his athleticism... hence raonic never doing much.

Well, Federer did collapse during his 2016 Wimbledon match with Raonic which, objectively speaking, would be more indicative of injury (given that Fed did not play again after that for the rest of the season) than anything which occurred between Raonic and Murray at the 2016 AO (given that Raonic went on to have his best season to date losing to Murray on 4 more occasions that year).

I bet Grigor would love to have reached a Wimbledon final. That's the best record, behind actually winning a GS title.
