Yonex Vcore 98 vs. Ezone 98

Has anyone hit the Vcore 98 (SV replacement) head to head with the Ezone 98 (DR replacement)? I have a pair of Ezone 98's that I like pretty well, at first they felt kind of stiff despite the published RA but I like the extra pop, maneuverability and good spin compared to previous Angell TC97 18x20. Does the Vcore have even more power/spin and less control than the Ezone? What are the main differences?

VCore is more plush. Less pop in my opinion but good control.
VCore is the better serving racquet but the EZone isn't really a slouch.
I'd say spin potential is similar. Volley's similar. Groundies similar but EZone slight ahead due to stiffness.

I guess best way to describe is that their performance potential overlap each other, with the EZone having a slightly wider ceiling and floor.

Hrmm I like plush feeling racquets, traditionally like thin beam, low RA control racquets. I wouldn't mind it if the Ezone had a little more control and a little less pop and stiffness. Looks like they are overall pretty similar?

So it's more or less just a feel thing between the 2 lines? I don't have much issue with the Ezone control either as long as it has fresh strings.
For me that's the big difference. Power wise, it's not that big of a dropoff from the Ezone to the Vcore. Or at least enough to make a difference in my game.

I actually switched to the VCORE 98 from the EZONE 98. And I just restrung both with the same Signum Pro Poly Plasma Pure at 45 for a side to side tonight for Ss and Gs. I've never done a full size to side like that with the same exact string setup.

In short, from what I remember... they are pretty much similar feeling racquets. The EZONE upper hoop is stiffer feeling. The VCORE has a more uniform feeling stringbed. Yes, VCORE has the power/spin of the EZONE. Perhaps it edges a little in control compared to the EZONE. isometric hoops are a little different - VCORE has 6 mains in the throat vs 8 mains of the EZONE. I think the EZONE flares out more and has shorter mains than the VCORE. Specs on paper are about the same. So, really, it comes down to the feel of the racquet and which material composition you favor. Or the design - if that's more of a priority to you.

Maybe I'll have a different set of thoughts after I do a side-to-side tonight.

Cool well I have a Vcore 98 coming my way, will report back as well when I hit them against my Ezone 98's. At worst I have an extra backup.

OK, I hit with it, and I think I'm back to my old EZONE 98.

EZONE 98 has a high launch angle and more forgiveness. I hate when I hit the ball with the upper hoop, but I don't that often. I get more power and I get the same amount of spin. VCORE 98 doesn't launch the ball as high. Similar power, crisper. Minimally more maneuverable. Control is the same.

My opinion is that the EZONE is more stable, too. Isn't as susceptible to being pushed around by stronger shots.

Both were strung with Signum Pro Poly Plasma Pure 1.18mm at 45 lb.

I demoed both side by side recently. Been hitting many balls long with the vcore, same swing. But serving with vcore is the best I’ve seen. I love the feel of swinging the vcore. Is vcore 98 suppose to be more power and less control compared to the ezone 98? It certainly feels that way.

i did brief playtest with vcore and was not a fan. Ive played with vcore pro and ezone extensively so i’m speaking from my personal experience and what I read online.

vcore=most stiff(more power, less comfort)

ezone= middle of the road power/control.
softest/most plush among the 3 (comfort)

vcore pro= lowest powered, best control
middle of the road stiffness

Just could not get myself to like the VCP 97 330/310 when I was searching for a new racquet since the RF97 destroyed my arm. Played well with the VCP 100 300g but still too harsh for my arm after a while. (I swing HUGE sometimes). Do yourself a favor and grab an ezone and your arm will thank you later.

Thanks. Ezone 98, Pure Strike and 360 Speed MP are my favourite recently. But once you are dialed in to VCore 98, it can be a big weapon. Serve and return are perhaps the best with VCore, which win more points than any other strokes combined.

Anyone of you guys played also with Angell TC100? How do the both Yonexes compare to it? I like the feel of the TC100 but it's too powerful for me. I kinda don't have the possibility to demo so I'm kinda hesitant which one to buy.

I have played with the E-zone 98+ as well as both the 63 & 70 RA TC100s. The TC 100s are both far flexier IMO. The biggest difference between the two is the very open 16x19 string pattern on the Angells.

I demoed TC100 but now switched to Ezone 98 from Prince TT100P... TC100 was strung poly/gut hybrid whereas for Ezone was multi/poly hybrid. For power, I found them similar at this setup, however Ezone had more control with a lower launch angle. Also Ezone string pattern is not too open, more closed than TT100P and significantly closed than TC100. Its very similar to blade 98 18x20 visually.

In summary:

Power: Similar (but strings and tensions matter)
Control: Ezone
Comfort: TC100 (even with poly in the mains)
Maneuverability: Ezone
Stability: TC100 slightly more, but Ezone also good
Spin: TC100 (also effected by strings)

For my relative flat style, TC100 was too open and currently also using Ezone mainly, and Angell K7 Lime 98 (18x20) for more comfort and even more control.

I'm guessing it was the 63ra version of the tc100 that you were demoing. Is that correct? Which weight and balance specs did you have?

Yes indeed, unstrung 63 RA, 310gr and 9pts HL. Strung with 2 OGs and few grams lead tape, weight reaching 340gr and SW around 325. didnt measure HL but probably around 6, its not very HL.

Posted originally in the Ezone thread but had no luck on replies, so am widening the search! Any of you folks able to offer a comparison between the Ezone and VCore 98 and the Yonex Vcore Dual G 100? (I Have the latter and am considering a possible switch to the Ezone or VCore 98 (or Angell K7 red. ). Looking for more serve power and flex comfort but don't want to lose manoeuvrability. I play mostly doubles.

Hey Redmini, What did you go with? I have been playing with the VCore98 for 1 year and really like it. I am hitting the best one handed backhand ever, but struggling w control on forehands and serve angles. I hit the new Pure Drive the other day and the extra maneuverability allowed me to really yank opponents wide on serve or bomb down the T. My ball may have been faster, but I don't think was heavier compared to VCore98. I am serving well with it, but often hit a tad long & found myself enjoying the Pure Drive more on serve. Wondering if current EZone98 or EZone100 could improve my serve variety, spin and pop. What has your experience been since?

Do the VCORES get a new cosmetic this year?
There’s a thread buried here on the 2021 VCOREs. Rumor was a September release, but that has come & gone.

Added feature is believed to be VDM, but no confirmation yet.

I’m not taking any chances on them not offering a ‘+’ and am stocking up on the current versions.

Yea.. I was looking for a VCORE thread but the site wasn't helping me find them. So I decided to post on the first thread I could find where there was a comparison to any Vcores.
I'll look for that thread.

I don't really think they should change the cosmetic anytime soon. A lot of people at RG were rocking the red rackets.. Vcores have always been red, black, and white. Maybe they can hold on to this cosmetic a year longer.

Bumping this since the new versions weren't part of this conversation.
I'm really preferring the Vcore 98 right now. But it seems like a lot of people really love the new ezone.. so much so it's pretty understood with players who have never been to this message board in the Louisville, Ky area.

Only got to demo 100 version of new ezone and damn it was so overpowered. I'm sure 98 would be way more controllable, it would hit really well if not for that. But vcore with a low power high spin high control string is beautiful

I recently tried the vcore 100+ (2021) and was pleasantly surprised, a deeper ball than my ezone 98 (2020) with almost the same level of confidence and control, plus my backhand is much easier to hit, maybe because of the extra long handle. Also the feel of the vcore is much more connected, it feels less "boardy" than my ezone, really got me interested in try the vcore 98

Vcore 100 is nice but I felt like its too much depth & power after playing it for a long time... I'm switching to the 98 for sweet control & precision.
