Best racquet to never win a grand slam?

Thanks for the correction. Good read on the FPK 85. The U2 and the FPK are quite different so I’m wondering how Hana was able to transition to the new frame.
Yeah the FPK is definitely a lot softer than the U2, I don't think the transition to it was that successful. I believe she retired not long after making the switch, not blaming the racquet for her retirement though, I'm sure there were a few other factors as well. Never seen the FPK 85 in the flesh, would be an interesting one to have a hit with.

Yeah, I liked both but for entirely different reasons. The U2 is a beefy stick made of braided graphite that wouldn't flex even if you stood on it. You could swing hard as you want and it would stay in. The FPK is a sweet stick, a little more refined.

You know, I just looked at your sig, and it appears we have very similar taste in frames.. Love them Yamaha Secrets. I need to try the Angells though.

I sometimes wonder if Paul Angell was abducted by the aliens who were originally responsible for the Secrets. The TC95 63RA is the more controlled evolved Secret 04, the feel is different but the end result is similar, with the added bonus of less balls hitting the back fence on the full and nowhere near as many framed kick 2nd serves sailing over the fence and into the car park. I do dearly love the Secret 04 and would happily play exclusively with it for eternity if I could find a way to tame the raw power. I have been contemplating for some time a @teachingprotx weight loss and RA reduction procedure on a Secret 04. It is such a burly well made frame, I'm sure that a fair chunk of material can be removed and it'll still be structurally sound. I feel safer talking about this in the Racquets forum rather than the Classics forum where I'm sure crucifixion is mandatory for harming a Classic in such a way.
Anyhow you should try the Angells.

Ever use the RX-32?
At that tlme (second half of the 80's) the only top male player used Yonex was Gomes. But he wasn't my hero. I remember how i was dissapointed discover that Pat switched from mega popular Prince (he played with metal Magnesium Pro 90) to strange head shape Yonex (R-50 was his first Yonex). It looked like absolutely female ravquet for me then.

Well, it so happens that I have 4 secret 04s.. 2 of them are pristine and the other needs a facelift. I’ve removed the finish on 1 of them already so I should post a before and after pic when finished. With that coating gone, and trimming the bumper just to to grommet strip should bring it down to about 12.5oz strung.. like my prince 90s. Still in progress though.

Always thought that the 04 were powerful and controllable at the same time. Wonderful frames and superb craftsmanship. Too bad they were so short lived.

Still own one 04. Locally, only guys that used it complained of cracking.

Not technically in this category, but it's been a shockingly long time since a blade has won a slam. Last was Novak at the 2008 AO I believe.
