I think she wins. Barty never struck me as champion's material. This semi kinda shows why.
I think this is the perfect time for Barty to learn some lessons - in the semi just before the final. I really think this bodes well for her in the final if it does get tense.

Barty has the physical game but don't know if she has it mentally to beat Von in a major Final

Too bad she is standing against Vond who just doesnt give a damn if she is losing or not. One mentally tough player, and my favorite for the title, no doubt :)

Huge congrats to Ashleigh and Aussie D on reaching her first slam final! Now that Konta's out I'll be rooting for her to win the title tomorrow. :)

This is win win. I don't much like Le Process and liked Vondrousova from the start. Barty too. So either way I will be happy. Would have loved to see Anisimova have a dream run but it's probably better this way. She will learn how to cope with nerves and come better prepared.

Congrats to Ash. Hope she wins but Von looks like she is no pushover

How does she cope with variety? Barty leads the H2H 2-0, but they've not played since Cincy last year, so they're arguably both in their best form to date.

Huge choke from Konta, no two ways about it.

Been playing the best tennis of the tournament, was the better player physically today, but upon reaching the semi final her mentality folded.

That's what separates champions from good players.

Idk how Vondrousova mentally is tough like people claim her to be. In match vs Martic she failed to close and it's shown that she's mentally afraid of attacking once she missed much.
She also 0-2 in final this year.

But I'm hoping her to win but ain't mad if Barty win.

Vondrousova choked her WTA international Budapest final to Van Uytvanck and also lost her WTA International Istanbul final to Martic while Barty won Premier Mandatory Miami besting Top 10 Pliskova... but yeah Barty isn’t champion material

After Naomi and Serena went out, I picked Barty.

I think Barty will win.

Not really familiar with this Vondrousova to be honest.

Ash Barty leads the tour with the most wins this year with 30. Just 5 losses for the year too.

Vondrousova is not far behind at #3 tied with Kvitova at 28 wins. 6 losses for her.

Pretty impressive given Vondrousova was unseeded and Barty was #8. Two of the most consistent players on the tour this year into the final.

Neither player has faced a top 10 player en route to the final.

Barty's biggest win is #14 Keys.
Vondrousova's biggest win is #12 Sevastova.

Vondrousova could of course get a top 10 win if she beats #8 Barty.

I think it's more important how the players would rank if there were a clay ranking, not to mention form leading into RG. Factually, you're right, but we know rankings aren't always the best indicator.

I was just thinking Sharapova wishes she played the tournament but honestly she couldn't beat these people these days
That’s right, but a chance is still a chance. I think she desperately wants one last slam. And who knows what would happen...

Barty up to #3 in the world.

She’ll be #2 with the title and just 136 points away from overtaking Osaka for #1.

After RG we head into her favourite part of the season, grass. All that talk of Petra or Bertens taking #1. Looks like Barty could get there. Has 280 points to defend in Nottingham and some points in Eastbourne but only 3R points at Wimbledon. Huge.

She’ll be the highest ranked Australian female since Evonne Goolagong (I guess?). Both Sam Stosur and Jelena Dokic only got as high as #4.

Who hadn't foreseen this final, hum? ;)

Konta did not Ostapenko her way to the title, after all, but I'm still surprised with her performance. She proved she no longer is "a cow on ice", to paraphrase our beloved Maria.

I'm also a bit sad for Anisimova. The final was almost there, but she seems to have succumbed to nerves. She's still young, she has time to improve in that aspect, but for the time being it was to sting, even if we consider she's inexperienced.

Might be an interesting final tomorrow. Both are crafty, but both will be nervous as hell (even if I'm also surprised with Vondrousova's mental fortitude to get wins in straight sets after being behind so many times). So, if it isn't well played, it can still be dramatic.

Bertens is the saddest.
Sharapova is a no go, even healthy she will probably lost to these semifinalist.
Kvitova might be but Bertens is really missed her chance.

Bertens must be cursing the day that virus came into her life. Not trying to diminish Vondrousova or Barty, but I believe Bertens would've probably beaten both. She's a fantastic clay courter and this title would suit her.

And now, let me get back to the ATP threads. The Third World War might be brewing over there.
