Translation of Rafa’s speech to Dominic:

“Sorry Dominic but you are never going to get a hold of the RG trophy as long as I play Roland Garros. Bamos”!!!

No one has won a grand slam since stand outside the big three since US open 2016

That is embarrassing for the rest of the field.

Of course, and Thiem's boorish, moronic ass is still paying his membership fees as part of the ATP's hyped Can't Win A Major Legion (Thiem, Nishikori, Kyrgios, Dimitrov, Simon, Pospisil, Tomic, Querry, et al), which continues to prove that this is the most talentless generation 1/2 in tennis history. As of this French Open, with on and off court failures, Thiem is the face of that loser generation.

Meanwhile, Nadal wins his 12th French Open title. Not only is he the master of the event, but with major #18, he is closing in on Federer, who stands at 20. There is no reason to doubt Nadal can (at least) match that.

Nadal in monte Carlo = meh, Madrid = meh, Barcelona = meh, then suddenly it picks up at Rome where he turns into iron man and right at the good time he becomes Thanos at RG. No one that thinks this smells a bit?

It wasn’t a factor today. Thiem still looked fresh even in the 4th set. Did you even see the match?
There is something called mental freshness too. The guy played Djoko in a 5 setter over 2 days after his qf. Without a day off for recuperation. Had it been Nadal bearing the brunt of screwed scheduling instead of Thiem, we'd never see the final happen today.

A wimbledon win or an AUS win, you only get to choose one.

And why?

Very tough call. I feel like Australia would mean more but having a third Wimbledon to match the USO total and get another Channel slam is very, very appealing. I think it's Australia but I can be convinced to the other side.

Take the USO, Dominic!!!

I feel bad for Thiem because there's no doubt he's the closest non-slammed player to winning a slam in terms of ability, but he has an almost impossible mountain to climb. That has to be gut-wrenching. He won Indian Wells, which I doubt anyone would have predicted to be his first M1000. Why not the USO? As long as it isn't against Rafa or perhaps JMDP, I'm rooting hard for Thiem.

Thiem will win RG in 2020. Honestly, I really feel he got too much of an ask to take out Djokovic and Nadal back to back without rest.

He's going to be stronger, faster and better next year. He's too good to not win this thing.

Again the guy peppers his one handed backhand like he peppers it against Federer. It’s almost the same result.

That has nothing to do with how fresh Thiem is. He played 4 days in a row ffs.

I don’t care who you are, you’re not gonna be fresh after that, and it was obvious as the match went on.

Dude it’s not new. He doesn’t care about those smaller tournaments like he used to. If anything it gave him more rest.

At least he avoided a probable defeat if not beat down at the hands of Nadal...
Every cloud. :) At least now Djokovic still has the mental advantage when they next face each other in a major, which is why I wasn't too disappointed over what happened yesterday.

I remember the threads predicting Rafa's FO count after the la decima in 2017. Where does it end? Lol
Guy's crazy good.

No. Nadal would have won. Nadal hasn’t exactly played long matches. He had an easy stretch for the most part.

Well deserved for Rafa, unbelievable achievement. I can't believe he's at 18 majors now, getting closer to Federer.
Still I feel a bit sorry for Thiem, he's had a great tournament, who knows how things would have turned out if he had more time to recover. Losing another back to back RG finals to the same guy has got to sting a bit.

It quite possibly would have. Had schedule gone to plan and both players received equal rest, Thiem very well could’ve taken the first set and the match later on.

You need to stop smoking the pipe. Lol. Thiem’s game just doesn’t bother nadal on this stuff when it matters.

I wish he could sue RG organisers over his f*ckued up schedule and lost prize money :-D

Nope. He used to win plenty of the others too, but now he’s getting older he needs to peak for RG.
I don’t see anything to be concerned about here.

I know. He may still have won maybe. But it wouldn't have reeked of bias. He didn't need favors from scheduling because he already had the easiest draw possible (Thiem as usual in Djoko's half). If he had Thiem in his half and then had to face Djoko I don't think you could have bet on the same result.

Rafa: "...he's a good person, that's most important..."
Thiem: A bit of dirty sidelook and probably thinking "What a f, that's all you have to say about my game?"
I almost spilled my coffee [emoji1787][emoji1787]

Anyways, well done Rafa!
I really think it's his improved BH that won him this match with ease (let's not talk about tired Dom rught now). Not ony that the CC is a rifle shot, but he now pulls the DL for a winner eith ease!

It certainly bothered him for the better part of 2 sets.

Now imagine what Thiem could’ve done if he was allowed proper rest. He still would’ve been the underdog, but it probably would’ve gone to 5

So boring. Can't wait for Nadal to retire so I can start enjoying this tournament again. The organisers entering the 21st century and getting a roof for the main stadium would also help immeasurably.
Ouch I would be lying if I said I didn't feel this tweet on a certain level but not because of this tournament. I domt think I will ever enjoy clay. Lights are coming next year I think and roof in 2021

Only when Nadal retires or gets injured!

Nadal will play WORSE next year as he declines and gets slower. You cannot escape father time. He will be 34 with a lot of mileage.

Thiem OTOH will get better and stronger. So yeah, I think he will beat Nadal next year at RG. He should win the tournament, unless Djokovic catches fire or something.

well if your guy didn't cry so much during the semi and demand a delay, Thiem would have probably taken it to 5!
