Best kits of 2019 RG?

Adidas normally makes a huge impact with their tennis apparel lines at RG. For a multitude of reasons (the dissolution of the RG / Adidas partnership being one of them) the Adidas lines were a big disappointment this year.

Moving on from that, whose gear did you like at this year's event?

I know it is bold and polarizing, but I really liked Nishikori's outfit. The matching Vapors were sick too. Really popped on red clay.

Do you know whether the colourway on those vapors is something that can be done via the Nike "By You" customization option or is it a one-off for Kei?

That Nishikori kit was a highlight for sure.

For once, the clear winner is actually Asics. The different shades of blue and the blue/yellow shoes gave their players an intimidating look on the red clay.

Djokovic's Lacoste kit was really good too, a slight design change from the earlier clay season line, but the coordinated scarlet/white outfit and collab with Asics shoes was one of the best Djokovic kits in a while, classy and befitting the world's best player.

While Nike released some of their absolute worst with their standard line, they really delivered with Nadal's outfit. A reverse to the clay-season kit. Blue, orange, and white were switched out with yellow, purple, and grey. Intimidating, as always.

I liked Schwartzman, but not that much. Nadal's is a great color combo but already used in other occasions. And I preferred the Djokovic's shirts that he wore on masters, actually, his deep blue one would fit really well on the clay.

Agreed on Djokovic. He should have used the red version in AO and hard court season, and blue for clay and RG.

Rafas was the best. Nice color. Energizing.
Really? You think "optic yellow" outfits belong on the court with optic yellow balls??? We weren't sure about players back in the "neon" days when they showed up with optic yellow outfits, strings, rackets, etc...kind of a bush-league move to match the kit color to the ball(only half-serious).

It suited Rafa. Agassi had the best outfits of the neon era.

I couldn't find any photos when I created the OP because their players had a low profile this year, but the Asics women's line was one of the best at this year's RG imo.

The Royal blue colour and the fit and cut of the neckline looked really comfortable and flattering for the players who wore it.

IMO, Sergio Tacchini & Lacoste pretty much always have the classiest kits. Behind them, adidas, Uniqlo, Asics. Next to the bottom of the list is Hydrogen having been replaced by Nike in the cellar.

I cannot wait to see how Nike screws up all-white at the AELTC!

Completely forgot about ST. You're right that they're one of the most consistently quality sponsors. Who do they even sponsor these days?

Would add Fila when it has its Heritage line.

Forgot about Ellesse.
I know some WTA players have Elesse kits but I don't think I saw any Ellesse kits at RG for the ATP guys (correct me if I am wrong please). I mean they were rare already but I really liked Feli Lopez's kits when he was with them. I know @Bobby Jr had the Japan hookup for his kits. Very hard to find since they were for local Japan demographic only. Anyway, very clean kits.

Eversince Feli moved on to Hydrogen, it seems Ellesse has succumbed to irrelevance, atleast for the guys. The worse part is Hydrogen to me is the opposite of what Ellesse did for him. Very trashy (sorry Hydrogen fans).

Good thread. I’d go Yonex and Nishikori Uniqlo. Honorable mention to Nike for going for it. Really like parts of that collection. Not for me though with the exception of the bee shorts (paired with a plain gray or white tee).

Totally agree. @Bobby Jr is the man for Ellesse. Has hooked me up. But you are very right — such subpar designs and fit these days. Feli wore the Japanese line and I don’t think anyone on tour is wearing that or if they even are still making it. Feli’s line was awesome. Big loss.....

I would never by Schwartzman's kit.

It doesn't fit me.

It was the same color scheme as Konta's outfit. Black/orange.

Ellesse are still running with the UK range (for Norrie, Konta) but the Japanese players are wearing the Japanese range. And their Roland Garros kit was great imo - worn by Hiroki Moriya in the qualis.

The UK ranges almost looked like they had some promise last year but they've reverted to ghastly designs.

The Aussie Open colourway was great too.

These remind me of Raonic's NB kits. Now those are real tennis outfits.
