2 matchs (single&double) with Pro line evolution at 23/22kg on my TC95 16x19, so good!
Nice balance of power, spin & control also very confy!

I currently have TC95 RA70 as my first racquet. Planning to order V3 with same/simliar specs.
Is it going to be similar enough to be able to switch from one stick to another during a match without much adjustment?

I love my TC95 for a perfect balance between power and comfort. If I could improve one thing though, it would be a bigger sweetspot.
Would V3 have a larger sweetspot vs. TC95, or is it about the same?

Thanks,
Why not try TC100? Bigger sweetspot and more forgiving.

I actually tried TC 100 Pro 16x19, 67RA, no longer sold from Angell website, which should be similar to TC100, I'd assume.
While it was comfortable and spin friendly, it didn't give me enough sharpness of TC95.
The difference was most noticeable when you go for a high precision shot.

What do you think of the 93p phantom compared to tc97?

Enviado de meu MI 6 usando o Tapatalk

Like Haqq I used both for a while and I ended up the other direction. I have two matched 93Ps and find them to play basically the same. Mine were 295 unstrung swingweight and same static, lead at 12.

I feel that the TC97 is easier to play as it plays like the RF97 if it were more controlled. It just rolls through the ball with such ease, hits very controlled and without any inconsistencies. Very heavy balls and very difficult to be pushed around. Above shoulder still was a very clear winner with this frame. I found it to be a little cumbersome at times but it wasn't overly slow, I felt like this helped to control the ball. The feel was just so solid, so connected to the ball like racquets of old.

I use the 93P exclusively. I sold all my Angells and babolats. I find it cuts through the air so nicely, feels a little better due to the thin beam to me but not quite as solid. It's a more pronounced flex and is still stable enough, by no means a flimsy frame. Overall I find the 93P to be a very versatile racquet. This is my favourite frame after using the Pure Storm Ltd for so long. There are times where I feel the frame is too fast through the air though so I have to be careful being too late or too early. I don't have any issues with being defensive with this frame either, it hits slice so incredible well so there is nearly always a chance toto recover.

The one frame I played that can go head to head with the 93P is the TC90 but that frame is very demanding. I will probably pick up another one at some stage due to how well it serves and volleys and just controls points.

Ok. In TC95, maybe you cold try different sting combinations. Some gut/sy.gut/multi hybrid with poly should help.

Regarding V3, I don't think that there will be a difference in sweetspot size.

Thanks. So V3 would feel very similar to custom TC95 given same specs?

I 'm using a gut/poly hybrid Babolat VS Touch 16/Kirschbaum PL II 18 at 50/48 and pretty happy with it.

V3 just means Version 3 and applies to all the Custom models... so there is a V3 TC95 in both string patterns and RAs, a V3 TC97 in both string patterns and RAs, and so on, and so on. The difference to the previous TC95s is the paint color and how the resin was integrated during manufacturing.

So a V3 TC95 strung with a gut/poly hybrid of Babolat VS Touch 16 and Kirschbaum PL II 18 gauge, at 50/48 tension, would feel similar to previous TC95s of the same RA and string pattern (just a slight difference in SW between Version 3 (V3) and Versions 1 and 2), but obviously different to a V3 TC97.

The V3 versions of all the different Custom Models have a slightly lower RA... that's all...

I hope I've answered your question.

Yes, thank you, very helpful.
I guess I have the version 1 TC95 and planning to get identical specs V3.
Slightly lower RA is important as I wanted something more arm-friendly.

The RA between the versions has not changed. It's still either 63 or 70RA for the TC95, however, the V3 TC95 would have a slightly lower SW than your V1 TC95. If you were trying to say that you had a 70RA V1 TC95, and now you are planning to get a 63RA V3 TC95... then I understand (y)

Either way... all the best.

Got my first Angell and man, I'm all about it.

Specs
Angell V3 TC97
18x20
320 grams
9 pts HL

Came from the Head Speed Pro 18x20 last year to using the Head Pro Tour 630 for 2 months, which I also love.

I feel like I can get better serves with my Angell, I can really pound the groundstrokes and it's ultra-comfy on my arm. Can't wait to get a second and third when I have a few bucks!

Does anyone have both TC100 in RA 63 and 70? Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in playability between the 2?

I currently own a 70 RA TC100 and am thinking of getting another one as a spare. If the 63 RA plays similar I might get that as an insurance policy for my elbow. Not that I get much grief from the 70 RA.

Thanks!

Liking your specs although I might stick with 16/19; just wondering if, depending on what you've played with, you could comment on what other racquet(s) you think the power level of your TC97 might be commensurate with, like Wilson PS97, Wilson Ultra Tour, Pure Drive etc.? Thanks, JMac

if you love Head PT630, you may also like K7 Lime which I use extensively, it has a more plush feeling than TC97, depends on the feel preference. I was thinking of trying TC97 18x20 but Paul said if I have the Lime, its pretty close in structure (even the same grommets I think) and he said i should try tc95 16x19.

They are all great products, but 16x19 versions very open for me and high launch angle for my game, may try to lower launch angle by customization in the future or for clay game. Also have TC95 18x20 but really havent used that much yet.

TC95 16x19 63RA is a wonderful racquet as long as your footwork is good. If not, you might start finding the 95sq a bit small haha. I've purchased a K7 red, in order to play it on those bad days, but I'm struggling with lead:
I'm almost good : 2g at 10 and 2g at 2, 1g at 12 makes a very stable and powerful enough racquet but a bit too slow. I removed the lead at 12 but then a flimsy feel appear...
I think I should try to get used to that extra SW from the 1g at 12, as I really like the feel.
I did't know that 1g would make such a difference in feel.
Any alternative setup folks ?

Hey, I'm a 4.0 rec player as a baseline talking point here. I've hit with a bunch of racquets over the last couple years I really started to play tennis (going on 4 years picking up the sport besides messing around as a kid). I'd say in terms of the power level, it carries a little more thump than my 18x20 Wilson Blade I used for a few months last year. It's really stable and I feel like it has great plow through. As I get better, the racquet feels like an extension of my arm. I never get arm pain (knock on wood), I don't feel fatigued like I did when I tried the RF97 after a few sets & even though it's an 18x20, I can generate a lot of topspin when I need to (I don't hit overly hard topspin shots, but I can generate it).

In terms of the Pure Drive, for me felt it felt like that stick had extra pop but was a lot harder on my arm. Hope that helps...

I love my set-up. I actually tried to get it close to the Head Pro Tour 630/280, which is my favorite feeling racquet of all-time. The issue was, it didn't let me produce a ton of pop because of the weight. I think the Angell specced-out this way is kinda the perfect balance for me atm.

Hi Angell users. I am really compelled to demo the c shape equilateral grip
Is there anyone on here whom I can demo a racquet from. With preferably 1/2 or 3/8 grip size I would pay double the price of the shipping for the demo. ?? Thanks pm me.

Hi all!

May I please ask for some advice and assistance? I’m going to pick up either a TC100 ra63, TC97 16x19 or K7 red, and I was hoping someone could compare them based on:

Control
Spin
Power
Comfort

I really like the Yonex VCore Pro 97 (310) for its control but it hurt my elbow/forearm, so I’m looking for something similar.

Thanks in advance!

I have a similar experience with the vcore pro 310. I’m assuming because of the huge weight difference between what I’m used to and the 330 might do you better.

In terms of angell I found the TC97 to be very similar

I did not counterbalance the K7, it's a good idea, but how much weight and where? under the buttcap?
I use Black Knight 1.25 at 23kg, as on my tc95. I like polys, and I think this stick benefits from a soft and powerful string so BK is not the issue here I guess

thanks for your help

I have an austrian PT280 that I will never part with, agree with you that it's my most favored. I have a weighted up blade 98 that I play well with, and a an RF97 that I've tried as well for months to get use to. The RF97 is just a handful and I keep trying to gel with it...but it's not happening, mostly a lack of control and issues with fatigue after 1.5 hours in 90 degree heat. And the launch angle is just a bit high.

I've been looking for a slightly lighter version of the PT280 (mine is around 365g)....comfortable, flexible, 18x20, maybe around 6-7pts HL, a lot of feel/control, 98 sq in. I settled on a K7 lime, so add me to the list ! I'll maybe add a leather grip and a bit of lead to 12 or 3&9 to see if I can get that magical feel in a new stick....otherwise i'm stuck with buying 20+ year old heads

I've had all 3 and currently own the TC100 and TC97. I liked the K7 (I think the second batch) but it wasn't stable enough for me. I couldn't find the right balance with lead tape so I ended up moving on. It was a great serving racquet from what I remember.

I used the TC100 63 RA for almost 2 years. I had mine customized from their original 300/325 to around 11.9 oz, 7 pts HL, SW ~337. It is/was a fantastic frame and I still have 2 in my bag and don't hesitate to use them at any time during a match. If my opponent lacks pace or the balls start getting flat from humidity, I will bring one of my TC100's out of my bag because its very stable and I can get lazy with it and hit a big ball

I've been using the TC97 16X19 310/315 for nearly 2 months now. Its a fantastic racquet. Doesn't hit as big a ball as the TC100 but is very precise and fast and allows me to really swing out on the ball. I have better serve pace with my TC100 but better spin with my TC97 and not a big loss of pace with it. Lower SW and more HL, I can really swing thru the hitting zone fast. I would say that my volleys are not quite as strong with the TC97 as the TC100 but I think that's more attributed to the weight and SW. I'm really enjoying the TC97, its been an easy switch. I also owned the TC95 16X19 and it was a fantastic racquet but I don't play enough to get used to the smaller head size. It was a great singles racquet for me but I'm 95% doubles. I could use the TC95 and TC100 pretty interchangeably in a match too.

Control. for me TC97 hands down. The TC100 provides good control too but the TC97 is better
Spin. The TC100 has a higher launch angle and I believe I get better spin with the 100 on deep shots. The TC97 is better for more controlled spin shots, think whipping short cross court angle shots or dipping balls at the net guys feet. I feel like I can hold the ball on my racquet better with the TC97. I also hit a lot of flat shots which favors the TC97 IMO.
Power. TC100 has more power but the TC97 still packs a good punch.
Comfort. they are both super comfy and I don't really notice a difference between the 2.

This is perfect!! Thank you so much. I think you’ve sold me on the TC97. Now, to find one a used one! Appreciate your time!

@Classic-TXP-IG MID Thanks for the response. I am thinking the same, but I was hoping to get a definitive answer. I am currently selling my Vantage 95, and the potential buyer asked me this very question.

Everything I’ve read says the Vantage 95 is the same mold as the current TC95, so the assumption is the grommets are interchangeable.

I replaced the the grip with leather, adding a bit of weight. If I were to counterbalance with lead, I would add at the top of the handle.

But i need 3 raquects and Angell raquects never went on sale or any kind of discount. The tecnifibre 315 Ltd XTC seems very close in specs with my Tc95. I have heard that there are foram filled too. Do you think is a very valid option?

My usual suspects for spin - Black Code, Ultra Cable, Hyper-G, Focus-Hex. And for control - Silverstring, SPPP, SPPP/Co-Focus hybrid.
I like 1.25 gauge for TC100.

I do not like Cyclone personally. It is okay for me the very first hours. When it settles in - it becomes cheap plastic and stiff. But it is very personal, IMO.
