Then who do you think she should be replacing?
Sousa v Nadal for sure shouldn't be on the main court.

Riske won a grass title going into Wimbledon and Ash is the #1 and RG champ.
Ditto for Berrettini who won a grass court title and is playing the GOAT Federer.
Sousa however, is a nobody whilst Nadal is well Nadal.

By the 4R the CC matchups should be for players who are both excellent like Berrettini v Federer and Kvitova v Konta. Sousa is just meh and the Nadal match doesn't justfity CC coverage.

The big three will never be moved off the shows courts. They are the biggest box office draws. Many people pay to watch Nadal, most don't even care who the opponent is. Sousa may not be household name, but you don't move the 18 time slam champ to court two.

I didn't say show court, I said court 1 which is where Nadal, Djokovic and Federer have played matches this tournament.

Court one is a show court.

Honestly if Gauff wasn't such a story, Barty would have been on Center or Court One.
So you're saying the big 3 would never be on a show court even though all of them have spent some of the tournament on a show court?
Funny.

Not a chance considering Gauff is the story of this event, and it seems like she has also brought in the highest ratings into the BBC. Everyone wants to see her right now.
Guess I just really agree with Fognini that the youngsters have to earn it. The hole craze seems so incredibly fake to me.

No. I am saying the big three will never be moved off the two show courts this tournament, since they are the biggest draws. They will either play Center or Court One for all their matches.

Well I don't agree that the Brits like Edmund should be on Center either, but you know how the Brits are.

Svitolina up a break on Martic.

Honestly i'd be pleasantly surprised if Elina gets the win over Petra there. Martic has been in fine form after making the RG QF whilst Svitolina returned from her injury and hasn't looked good. On top of that, Svitolina has never made a slam QF outside of RG.

Riske breaks back. I thought Alison might win this one.

If Ash does manage to get through I don't expect her to beat Serena.

I didn't say that Nadal had to be moved off the show courts, just don't think his match should be CC. Bump him to show court 1.

That too.

I'd also lean to Djokovic over Nadal on Centre, but the Fedalovic matches are kinda samey with all of them being huge favorites and probable straight set matches. But Djokovic being #1 and defending champ getting the short end of the stick is kinda dumb.

I do agree with you and also @Aussie Darcy that Nadal should have been on Court One today. But that could mean he might he out there for his Quarter Final against Uncle Sam, and we know Uncle Sam likes to upset big players on that court.

Ash Barty takes the first set 6-3 in the first.

Definitely challenged more than her previous matches but she's looking good.

If you look at projected QF then Djokovic probably has the dullest projected QF so that's all the more reason to put him on Centre today.

Then again 2nd monday of Wimbly is the most clustered schedule you get.

I agree that the Djokovic v Goffin/Verdasco match should be on court one, but that will be on Center if they have put Novak out on court one today. Federer will play Nishikori on Center, no doubt.

Nishikori for another QF lol.

Anyone ever complains again about #nextgen being stopped by Big 3 I'm gonna proclaim Nishikori a moral ATG

I look more about the matchup than the one player. Of course the big 3 carry big name power but if you're looking at them all playing on the same day like today I look at which match looks like it'll be more likely to go 5 sets or have an upset.
Sousa v Nadal? Nah
Djokovic v Humbert? Definitely not.
Fed v Berrettini? Maybe

In the QF's it's more of the same
Djokovic v Goffin? Meh
Federer v Nishikori? Mm not bad.
Nadal v Querrey? Quite possible.

Fed v Nishi is a battle of 2 big players but will be less competitive than Nadal v Querrey.

So in that instance i'd favor Nadal v Querrey but that's just me.

And you know whoever beats Nishikori wins the title...

Mertens takes the first 6-4 over Strycova after being a break down.

Zhang also took the first 6-4 over Yastremska.

Martic breaks back against Svitolina (unsurprisingly to me).

I see you are looking at match up and I don't disagree. But tennis is a business about making money. There are many matches that happen on the outside courts that are much better than the routine beat downs we see the top guys give in the earlier rounds, but a lot of people just want to watch the top names and Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Serena are just bigger names. I understand your point, but these guys are looking for ratings, Barty will get there if she keeps winning, winning this Wimbledon title will help big time, she is not there yet even though she is number one.

Oh yes I agree, not talking about Ash anymore, was talking about who would get CC if all of the big 3 had to play on the same day in the QF. I personally would put Nadal v Querrey on CC but know that the organizers would likely go Nishikori v Fed.

Just tuned into 2nd set and I don;t watch many Barty matches but is she typically this bad at the net? and then we have Riske's moans that sound like ......

Svitolina meanwhile saved 3 break points to hold for 4-4, now has double break points to go up the break and serve for the first.
