HEAD G360 Extreme

With all these glowing reports I’m wondering why my doubles partner is playing so much worse with this frame. He bought it as an arm friendly Aeropro alternative. But I find that while his serve has more oomph, he lacks significant control and makes so many more errors.
Maybe it’s not the Racquet but certainly his play of late is not inspiring me to try the Extreme out at all.

99% of the time its not the racquet. This frame is incredibly easy to use if you have good technique and can generate spin. I make less errors with this frame and love the control but I started playing tennis before I was 10 and use an extreme semi western, so it fits my strokes really well.

it feels a little more head-heavy than the pure aero to me and it definitely has more flex. string spacing is very similar, though.

i tried out the e360 MP...was not a fan. Racquet felt harsh, hollow, and jus bad. I guess I took my diadem elevate tour for granted. Has anyone tried out the nova? I might get one of those to use when my arm gets tired. I thought the extreme would be the answer but my arm jus doesnt agree with head frames.

I agree, it feels hollow-metal-plasticly.
I'm looking forward to the Gravity test to see if the improvement are true or just marketing here on board.

Feel can be subjective as we all know. Of course the feel is never going to be the same as a foam filled frame such as Angell, or diadem. I have tried many stiff tweener frames, and this one is by far the most comfortable one. Results speak for thmeselves, so a no brainer for me.
I did try the mp and lite only in stock, both comfortable, I do like mine with shockshield grip and a bit of silicone though.

I agree. The feel is not important at all for some people, but those of us who had played 200G, it's a bit difficult to get used to this modern feeling racquets. But there are some very good offers like Prince Phantom, Wilson RF97, Yonex Vcore Pro, etc.

As i get older, i feel that feel is more and more overrated and that i like the feel of winning more which i feel this racquet provides in spades.

Agree. Plus the feel of the Extreme is not that hollow or plasticy to me. And I am coming from the Yonex Vcore Pro. Sweet spot on the extreme feels great, IMO.

It’s not a players frame feel, but it’s very easy to hit droppers ands slice with this frame.

The Blade may be the best option for modern power plus feel. We will have to see how the new ones play. The last version was pretty bad, IMO.

Feeling the ball is not important for players of inferior quality or for those whose goal is to overpower the opponent with power (playing only from the base line).

If you are playing all-court game, S&V, etc. you quickly find out that e.g. drop shot, service, is much easier to execute (even more important with better quality) with "touch" rackets. Big difference e.g. between Prince 93P or Head Extreme.

Inferior quality?LOL. There are so many high level players using tweeners that do more than just play from the baseline.

I sincerely doubt you are at a level to decide who is inferior or not. For example, you put so much stock into frames, their weight..etc. I doubt you have spent much time with the Extreme or the P93, definitely nothing close to what I have, since I own them both right now.

There is not a big difference in executing drop shots, serve between the two frames. You either know how to do it or you don’t. The Extreme is surprisingly effective on those shots, but it sounds like you didn’t spend much time with it or your skill is lacking. The Extreme is a very good frame for finishing points off at the net and it’s quite nice for drop shots as well. the P93 is an incredible feeling classic frame that is a joy to play with, but if your touch game changes that much from using a different racquet, that’s your issue and not the frames.

I am about 12hrs in with my string job and I think I can get another 6-8hrs of it. Impressed with this frame not being a string eater yet providing spin.

My 17 gauge was toasted tonight. I hit with a ton of spin to control it, so my balls were landing really short and after a while it snapped. I think this frame is much better with 16 gauge but that’s not a huge revelation.

Switched to the pure aero plus and i really love that frame as well. Pretty easy to switch between them. The extreme has tighter control to it but the aero was just strung up so it was fine. I use the prior model with the beefier swingweight and its a really great frame. Plays very similar to the head but id give the extreme the edge in control and at the net.

I like both frames so I just use them all without much of a problem.

Yeah the extreme has the edge in control. PA + is a beast of a frame. I have tried all the tweeners, pure strikes, and as @A_Instead is testing the cv 3.0, that frame is also nice, the extreme overall does the most damage!

Hahaha... I would but I am worried too harsh on my arm.. to me prince tour 100(310) perfect blend.. it has some tweener aspects and some players stick aspects. Does everything well. And super comfy.

The Pro Stock Extreme, strung with Sonic Pro, that Bahrami played with for years feels a lot like the 360 retail version. He had no trouble hitting touch shots with it, which supports your analysis.

I have played with my new G360E for about two weeks now and I am getting a pain in the elbow. I have it loaded with Tour Bite Soft at 55#. The demo racquet was strung at 57# , not sure what string but I didn't notice any pain.
Do I need to to restring this thing and up the tension? What string for control spin and comfort?
i came from a Volkyl Vsense 8
if not I may send off to demo a Phantom.

If you are already experiencing pain in your elbow, you might want to lower the string tension but not sure how this racquet performs well in the mid or high 40s string tension. It will probably produce too much power and lack of control.

He started with Technifibre Biphase and moved to Head Velocity. The Velocity lowered his launch angle so now his errors are more into the net than into the back fence.

I think the issue is that I'm not sure the racquet suits his game. He fancies himself a Power Player (no pun intended) but really his strengths are touch and feel shots. He's an eastern grip for everything player that probably would be best suited to a Blade or Yonex VCORE type frame than a spin/power frame.

Agree. For those that touch and feel shots are their strenghts, but also want to hit with power without excessive lift - Blade, Pure Strike, TFight 305XTC and similar are great rackets.

I love the Blade style frames too, but honestly hitting with touch is not that difficult with the Extreme. I use a lot of touch since I like to change up my spin and depth.

But I would not suggest this frame or a Pure Aero to someone who uses an eastern grip. It can definitely be done, but this frame is better suited for semi-westerns, imo.

Enjoy finding boomerangs for your o ports. Lol
Ports are actually super easy to string. Just remember that the crosses start on the high side and you will need to hip check just 3 or 4 pulls.

The o3 beast 100 is a more precise version of the Extreme pro, imho.

I don’t think his touch shots are the problem. It’s his serve and grounstrokes where the errors come. Of course it’s mostly technique but sometimes using a less powerful frame forces you to develop a bit better technique.

My FH has gotten remarkably better since I started playing with the 93p. Not saying that’s the right frame for him, but a more control oriented tweener frame may be a better choice.

IMO to use the Extreme you really need poly and a SW grip.

It's better in the mid to low 50's for me, yeah. It can be used in the 40's but that can be a pretty launchy situation. I string this and the PA+ at 55#s. Lets me hit through the ball more and get more playable hours before the strings break or the tension bags out.

I honestly hated them. I had an older one for a while. Im not into hip checking my frames. Lol.

The best prince for me is the phantom 93. Nothing will top one. Still have 2.

How does the Extreme MP compare to your PA+ in terms of stiffness and maneuverability?

Pretty similar. The PA+ to me is a special frame because it doesn’t feel too much like an extended racquet when I swing it. Due to the balance it may be a bit easier to maneuver. They both play pretty stiff, but the Extreme bends a bit more in the throat.

Cool, just wanted to see the tension and mains and crosses e.t.c. I have tried strings like origin or ghost wire higher in the crosses but did not like it, still love the mains higher 2lbs or so.

So I strung my MP up with Black Knight 16G / Ghost Wire 16G both @ 49 lbs and played one practice session and part of one match with it.

It's okay. Coming from Hyper-G, I missed the bite and power. It was super comfortable, and spin was okay, but it didn't bite the ball like I'm used to. The main thing that surprised me was that it was hard for me to generate power AND spin. I could hit hard and flat (great for serves), but I found it difficult to crank up the spin to get the ball to drop. Touch was good. Like I said, it felt really good. But performance-wise I think I might need a different setup. I was losing my match and spraying errors so I went back to my Pro with full bed of Tour Status 17G, and it was (k)night and day. The Tour Status allowed me to rip the ball confidently, serve bigger, hit with more spin and power, etc. I almost came back to win the match with the Tour Status.

So, I am disappointed, but I think it just doesn't fit my playstyle. Ghostwire might work better with Firewire to get that extra bite.

The bite on the Tour Status surprises me. I wonder if the issue with the Black Knight/Ghostwire was the Black Knight in the mains, or Ghostwire in the crosses? I wonder if FB Black Knight would play similar to the Tour Status that I love.

Or, why don't I Just play with Tour Status? Why do I do this to myself? Lol.

Edit: I have an extra set and a half of Black Knight and Ghostwire if you want to try it, if shipping is possible.

Has anyone tried Hyper G @50#?
That was recommended to help my elbow pain.

I have in other racquets. Never had any elbow issues. But it doesn't mean you won't. It's not super stiff but it's still a poly.

Try crossing it with Ghostwire, Cream, or Origin. Very nice and soft.

Shipping might be high. Might just order a reel of bk with 12usd shipping to Oz. Full poly sounds right. Love origin as a cross though or hdx tour

In Sept. HEAD will launch its Lynx Tour string. Very similar to Hyper G or even better. Thiem is using it in mains. Working title of the string is Experimental. Already discussed here in another thread. Maybe you like this color more.

Sounds like cyclone vs cyclone tour. More softer and livelier. Not sure if a too lovely string will work in extremes. What is thiem crossing it with?

What will yours be champ? Considering you follow me around and troll constantly I’m just wondering if I should ignore your ass or if you will ever contribute something worth reading to the thread?

I’ve had the Pure aero plus since early 2017. Started with the Extreme the year before. This is not some new phenomenon. I doubt I try more frames here anymore than most posters including yourself. The only difference is I share info about what I try to help people out, unlike yourself who makes ridiculous posts half the time that are simply aimed at irritation and based on ignorance.

I’ve been pretty public that I’ll try the new blades and I think I’ll be good to go from there for a while. Why would you post in the thread just to bash a racquet? Makes no sense unless you really are that much of a troll.
