Now that’s an “official” statement. The golden egg is hidden in the article.

“One of the things that we’re trying to do is ensure that tennis is appealing for both players and spectators — that it doesn’t sort of become a shootout, a fairly one-dimensional sport that only certain kinds of styles really benefit from,” Caple-Davies said. “So that has maybe curtailed some of the very fast surfaces ... and certainly in our team competitions, something that the ITF is taking some action to mitigate against.”

They know conditions are faster, and they are either hiding the reason, or not capable of figuring out what they did wrong.

Which is why you made Wimbledon play so slow everyone and their grandmother commented on it.

The tradition of the sport is that grass plays fast, period.

How is this more of an "official" statement than an interview with the guy who manages the Wimbledon lawns?

It's also more of a non-statement than a statement. It tells us absolutely nothing.
Exactly, why no answers? It is clearly playing slower. But they don't want anyone to know why. If they did they would have to explain their reasoning, and it would not be a pretty sight.

The guy who said they can't divulge the results works for the ITF's tech department. Even if he knew it slowed down, he wouldn't be able explain why.

The only ones in a position to give an official explanation would be people from the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Like Tim Henman or Neil Stubley, whose views I have already posted.

Their views are a sham. They are not lying, just not telling us what they know. That or they don't want to know so they are not even looking into it.

Did you read the article??? Of course not.

“It’s also where the portable contraptions used to measure court speeds were developed and refined — the very ones brought out to the All England Club last month to check each playing surface, just like every year before the likes of Federer and Nadal begin play.”

They did finish the testing and are withholding the results.

i know right i like how we had endless threads and commentators speak their 2 cents on wimbledon seedings but somehow the fact that grass is not playing like grass is not an issue.

Also was pretty sure whats keeping the sport afloat atleast on the atp side is the big 3 and that it would be dead outside of it. i mean again i did not watch the tennis back in the 90s or before that but heard tennis was doing well and I would imagine the diverse personalities along with diverse style of play had a part in that

Of course I read the article. I posted it here before you did. What is clear is that you didn't read the article

We are not able to disclose the results,” said Jamie Caple-Davies, the head of the ITF’s science and technical department, “as these are provided to the (club) in confidence.”

And then you also claim:

The only person referenced in the article is the ITF official Jamie-Caple Davis which is obviously not the same person in the doctored video.

When Neil Stubley is also referenced in the article

i like how they talk about the tradition of hte sport, there are plenty of things about tennis traditions, even wimbledon traditions, that they can do away with but instead they talk about the speed.

also this statement irks me so damn much One of the things that we’re trying to do is ensure that tennis is appealing for both players and spectators — that it doesn’t sort of become a shootout, a fairly one-dimensional sport that only certain kinds of styles really benefit from. what is the point of different surfaces then or different styles of play, at this point with slowing everything down or trying to make everything a even playing field we are not saddled with players with relatively the same style of play and are one-dimensional and in terms of matches it is just long drawn out baseline grinding so i dont get what they are trying to achieve.

Says who??

And the results are given in confidence. That means “the club” cannot disclose it.
When an ITF official says "we cannot disclose the results," the "we" obviously refers to the ITF. The club can disclose them if it chooses to.

It's like when a doctor gives you test results in confidence. The doctor cannot disclose it to other people without your permission, but you can disclose them to whoever you want.

So someone is holding information back. Period.

And...? You said the only person referenced in the article was Caple-Davis. That's clearly not the case, which means you didn't actually read the article.

I said the only person who referenced in the article talking about the ITF test is Caple-Davis. Neil says nothing about the ITF testing in the article.

LOL when 3rd party companies do work for an organization, they cannot divulge any details. This is standard procedure.

So, someone just says the conditions are the same as last year with no data.

But the players say the exact opposite.

Tough choice here.

That's also a pretty standard disclaimer people put on their social media profiles. It's meant to protect the company they work for from their own personal opinions they write on social media.
In theory, in case Neil tweets something stupid, then it won't reflect badly on Wimbledon. In practice, that doesn't actually happen.

But I digress. Putting a statement like that on a Twitter bio doesn't preclude him from speaking for Wimbledon outside of Twitter.

Disclaimer:

Neil just gave his “view” about the conditions. Its not an official statement.

His official statement is “the conditions are slower over the last years” which is printed on a news article.

But so far it was “where is the data... where is the CPI.....”

Now that it’s established someone has the data, “The Club” can release it or authorize ITF to do the same. Oh wait, but they dont want to.

The response to complaining that's it's too slow is always "well the '90s speeds would be unplayably fast."

Did these people never read The Three Bears?

with todays tech:

2010's too slow
1990's too fast
2000's just right

My point, it’s the ITF calling the shots regarding what type of court speed should be achieved that helps a certain style of play. They just provide the final test results to the individual slam organizers.

I am more concerned with cash clearly changing hands to chair umpires who blatantly ignore the rules of tennis in a cheating scheme to benefit certain players

This is completely false. A slam is the property of the slam owners. And in this case it is the private Wimbledon club. So they are calling the shots.

But the ITF does have certain control over the Grand Slam events.

I dont think Neil Stubley is sure of anything.
