i feel like his list is wrong. why would the 98S be 16x19? and what happened to the 98L?
The 98L is being replaced by the 100L. My guess is that the 98S would be 18x16. The new version of the 98S and 100UL will not available in the US.

I have strung all of the new Blades except the 104 which I’ll do on Sunday. I feel that the TW Talk Tennis nation will be pleased when they get to hit the new Blades.

Definitely. [emoji1360]

@Shroud: Will you still add lead?

I dont think I have heard any feedback from anyone hitting with 18x20.. it seems people got to hit 16x19 but not 18x20

There is no such thing as clash technology. Only clash 's technology=free flex *
* 99 % sure.
Not sure if (element with atomic number 6) mapping or stable smart are involved.

Interesting the early docs call it FeelFlex for the Balde and talk about the carbon mapping being used "from lessons learned from the Clash". So given the way it feels to me, I am willing to bet they did modify it for the Blade. It really is different from the Clash. But we will see it finalized the next few days and can talk more about it then I guess.

I'm going to demo the 16x19 this weekend (as long as someone else doesn't take the demo racquet before Friday). I was at a shop where they have it and it felt a little head heavy compared to the Clash 98. The balance felt similar to the previous Blade. Hopefully, I'll get to see how it feels on the court.

Looking forward to your impressions of the 16x19. I think Michelle said it's supposed to be 4 pt HL or something, and 323g or so / 11.3 ? oz. Should leave plenty of room to put a leather grip and OG on and get it up to 6 pt HL and +/- 335- 340g.

Hopefully the hoop is stable enough not to need weight. If it needs weight I'm afraid it will end up being not head-light enough for me at a manageable static weight. Fingers crossed!

I'm on the Gravity MP demo, liking it, but it needs quite a bit of tweaking with weight in the hoop and handle, but nice feel and control, a little lacking in power. Big sweet-"area". But disappointing feel at net I've found. I'm hoping this new Blade is less like a blunt instrument than the last CV v.6, and has enough torsional stability in the hoop.

@Geoff how did you tie off the bottom cross on the v7 Blade 18x20? It seems like grommet 12 is right against the intersection of the cross and main with no room to put a knot in between. I went down a hole and did it there, but the knot still pushes the main a little out of alignment. Did you have the same experience?

I'm not Geoff, but I tied off the bottom cross at b6, not 12. That's where the grommet hole is larger to accommodate a knot.

I may be miscounting, but the hole was bigger there. I need the frame in front of me, but where the hole was bigger there was just no space to tie off the string on the cross. I would have had to skip over the main to do it. Just seemed weird.

There’s a link to a review on the other Blade thread. Here’s a pic from that site, they tied the bottom cross off on 7T.

I think that is the 16x19 version pictured. I couldn’t zoom in too tightly though.

Sorry, didn’t realize you were asking about the 18x20. Here’s a pic from the Wilson site, appears it’s still tied off at 7T on the 18x20 also.

The tie off I am talking about is 12B, the bottom cross ie off that Wilson lists. It is though to see in that picture, but there is no room to tie the knot, at least in my first try. You can see how close together the cross and main are right there.

This is how I did it as well

Ok, here is what I did. I tied off on b10 I believe. It did say to do b12, but if you look at the pic above where I tied off it basically has no space for the knot. So you all tied off one below my mains knot in the picture then? It does appear that the hole is a little bigger there. I will do that next time, not sure why Wilson did not specify that better.

Same tie off as the previous versions.

Again, I am talking about the 18x20 and 7 is where you tie off the mains, not the crosses. Here are the stringing instructions from Wilson. They clearly state to tie off the cross at 12b. Users here are tying off at 6b, which makes more sense now that I have done it once. I did a 2piece. I have never done a 1 piece string job, so I am not sure if there is any advantage to learning that technique for the frame. I think what Geoff and Bogdan suggest is the way to go for a 2 piece.

Don’t have the racket in front of me right now. But IIRC, I tie off the mains on main #8 which is the 9th hole since hole #8 is for a cross string. That’s how #7 throat becomes the tie off for the cross.

You can do that on v7 but the 9th hole is going to need a grommet in it first, whereas #7 is already nice and big. #12 is big and Wilson says to use that, but dont do it, its a trap. I just looked at #6 is big too and it’s a perfect place to do it. Honestly now that I know that, this frame is super fast and easy to string for an 18x20. So just remember to do #7b mains and #6b crosses and you won’t have any issues.
