Get your body turned faster (chest facing between the side and back fence instead of the net).

I am currently playing with 16g strings and would like to try 17g next time as i`m used to 17g. I think i may try wilson revolve full bed or some combination with wilson revolve on the crosses
I used Rf97 with a full bed of revolve , it was a mystical experience at net, I could not miss !

The racket is done. All that is left is to test the new configuration. Poly string Wilson Revolve 24/23kg with power pads!

I tried the Wilson revolve full bed configuration, so far it`s good only for serves. Everything else is way worse than the hybrid configuration! I am very disappointed...

Beside gut/poly I like Völk Cyclon 17 or Solinco Hyper G, both 24kg in RF97. I must try now Tecnifibre Ice Code, because I am thrilled with it in XTC 305 and PK 5x.

My first configuration Alu power rough/Wilson sensation 25/24kg was the best i`ve ever played. I shouldn`t have cut them out.

Experiment with different multis if you can.

I will but for now i have to justify buying the revolve.... gotta play with it for a while. Any opinions on Babolat synthethic gut as a substitue for wilson sensation. I found a reel 200m for 30-40 euros

Tension too high ? The one I tried was orange...
Other strings that might be OK: cyclone 16, hyper G, multi filaments also

I'll try keep the Revolve on mains and add the Sensation on crosses and see if it has better spin potential than with Alu power rough on the mains.

I've struggled with the RF97A a while when it comes to really good directional control on my forehand ground strokes. I don't know if it has to do with the balance on this thing, because it's massively head light. I went ahead and took the stock leather grip off last night, replaced with a light skin feel synthetic grip, and put a tiny bit of lead at 12. My preferred balance is more like 3-4 pts HL. Anyone else mess with the balance on one of these?

I added lead at 12:00 to get to my preferred specs. No need to counterbalance - this thing has a ton of weight in the handle. You might want to consider removing some weight from the handle. Some have reported a big piece of lead in there.

I havent because imagine what wrist or elbow pain you will be risking that way... All I have is an overgrip. The racket looks too good for ruining its looks with lead anyways.

Tonight I accidentally hit a backhand with a very wrong technique which ended with me tensing my wrist(it was dark and I did a wrist flick at the last moment... ). Now im applying ice on it. Consider how much worse it could have went if I had it a lot less headlight. This was the only time I got pain which probably will be away fully by the morning. For now its pretty good. The racket as it is has a nice balance and plenty of power. You dont need to add lead. Just take the ball early :)

Guy have you ever ran into discomfort in all of these body places:, ankle, knee, wrist, elbow? Literally at the same time but only on the right side of the body. I have slight pain in the knee.

Sorry but I’m going to hijack your thread for a sec with a question. Does anybody know if the all black and tuxedo RF97s are the same as the original red and black one? I have the red and black one and fancy picking up some spares but not sure if I’d get away with getting the newer ones. Cheers

In theory they're supposed to be the same. With Wilson's insanely lax factory tolerances, it's difficult to tell though. I'm sure if you know what your specs are and you pay for racquet matching, the TW staff can find some current RF97s that are nearly identical to what you have. The issue though is that you have to know what you have.

So as racket models, they’re identical? With the minor differences only coming because of QQ?

In theory.

There's people that say that the different type of paint makes them paly different, the same for the all black and the tuxedo.

For what is worth, for me, for intents and purposes they are the same.

Nice setup. I may try it :) I started playing with a loose wrist when I switched to this racket not only to save my shoulder but because I think that's the proper way. I am getting some huge spin compared to my 18x20 ncodes. What I find hard on my shoulder is backhand slice volleys above chest hight. Any suggestions? My height is 173cm.

Took the leather grips off of mine and added synthetic. A great deal less stress on my wrist and it made the overall weight a bit less. Became much easier to serve. Not sure this will solve your issue but it made a big difference with my frames. Have 7 and they all have synthetic grips with Wilson pro over grips.

There's some consensus that the original red/black was a little more stable (higher twistweight). This also shows up in TW's racquet comparison tool (http://twu.tennis-warehouse.com/cgi-bin/comparepower.cgi). All black and panda one should be identical.

How does TW get stats for the comparison tool? Large sample/small sample? Single sample/multiple samples? If the samples aren't large and the number of samples aren't large enough, the specs they put on the their website aren't very representative of the population of red/black 2014-2016 RF97 racquets.

I'd imagine they do the same with their published specs, take an average of 10 or so racquets. Sure, it may not be a complete representation, but how many racquets are actually on spec? Under 5% difference might be good enough to get an idea at least. On the other hand, the 2015 has an almost 10% higher twistweight that'd be hard to blame on bad QC and small sample sizes. Sure, it might happen, but that's statistics in general.

Been playing with them since they came out. The Red/Black ones seems to better feel and the Black ones seem to be a bit more muted. It would seem to makes sense that they are coated with a rubberized paint and feel a bit more muted. That being said I prefer the black ones. No experience with the skunk frame.

It could matter a lot if all 10 are from the same batch and racquets from a single batch are more alike than they are with racquets from different batches. I don't have anything empirical to prove this, but I've seen the idea floated around that Wilsons bought together from the same store are closely specced but very different if bought months or a year apart.
