Uniqlo US Open

Agree; what's up with two stripes on Fed's shorts and one on shirt? It's better than previous efforts for Fed though. Also agree Nishi's is again way better.
It actually has striping down the middle of the sleeves. That's the only part I am not so keen on. I would have preferred solid black top with the white Only on neck and bottom of sleeves. Overall though, I like it.

It will be interesting to see if Uniqlo does retail a reversed white version of this shirt. It will look better than the black version with the right shoe / sock combo, but it is so similar to the Nike design from almost a decade earlier.

"I wanted a full body black style for the design of this US Open, I received a proposal from the design team for a wonderful and sophisticated outft. The details and concept of the design are based on a vision that goes beyond sports based on LifeWear's philosophy. Thanks again to UNIQLO's design team for providing special wear for all tournaments."

All Federer items on the HK site are sold out. Is that even possible? Maybe some problems with the system? The thing is, Kei's are also sold out with the exception of two sizes of his USO shorts (L/XL).

Stocking up unreleased items. Normal. They did that to the Malaysia's site previously. Happens to our Nike site as well. You get to see them beforehand but not buy them

Because I have tried on these Uniqlo shirts and they are not comfortable when there is stitching across body parts. I don't know much about clothes, as in I am not an expert on whether changing fabric quality would make the shirt more comfortable. I will do what I please with my opinion.

Lmao you think RF is wearing uniqlo off the racks

You do have a point. I lost an argument before when I said Kei's purple shirt must not have the stitching around the waist and back that I was complaining about. The stitching is still there. Whether the shirt has different materials than the consumer product, I don't know. I guess it is very possible that the shirts the Uniqlo pros actually wear are constructed more similarly to those lacoste shirts Tennis Hands was talking about, rather than the ones we buy off the rack.

While I don't have Federer's personal Uniqlo shirt the idea that the pros are some sort of aliens that have special senses that make them extra prone to the slightest of "inconveniences" is, frankly, absurd. A couple of seams, unless positioned at some pressure or highly sensitive points, will not in any way affect either the performance, or the comfort factor. The shoulders are not such points, so I don't see a reason why Federer would want or need a different execution.

While I have seen seams with different execution, there is nothing inherently inferior in what Uniqlo does. In fact, after I read the continuing musings around that "problem" I pulled out another staple of mine: the Assos cycling jerseys. For those that are unfamiliar with the product: it is a high-end producer of cycling gear that develops its own materials in Lugano, Switzerland. They have exactly the same seams as Uniqlo, down to the turning of the seam. Now, a cycling jersey is designed to stay tight on the skin (unlike the tennis polos that hang freely), so the pressure points are much more exaggerated. If one asks around he will never encounter complaints about the seams being a problem, so one has to ask why and how the tennis fans became so concerned about such matters and developed a highly sophisticated theories about non-issues?

Oh,BTW, if one wants to know the truth, he can invest 1008 EUR in one of Federer's personal polos available through his foundation and let everyone know the secret sauce of his success, undoubtedly nurtured by magic seams.

You have a point when it comes to Federer's shirt. I was being a bit fussy there. But I beg you to get one of Kei's purple shirts from last year's US Open off the bay and tell me that you wouldn't mind wearing that in a tennis match, never mind one at the highest of levels.

Kei's looks good. Federer's doesn't.

Uniqlo are NOT to a great job with Federer's kits.
I would have liked this kit in navy blue, but the black still looks alright I guess. My favorite was the lighter one from the French Open. I pretty much have the opposite taste in clothing than everyone on this board haha.

I like Kei's outfit minus the shoes. Fed's looks ok but might look good depending on what shoes he wears. I think colorful shoes would elevate both their outfits.

Are the Japan releases of the gamewear sized the same as the US releases? I've been good with recent US purchases, but I'm looking to buy past kits from Japan and not sure if they intentionally size these differently

Just cause an outfit is black doesn't make it the greatest ever. How can anyone say it looks good? Federer looks silly in that kit.

Damn Uniqlo blowing big time with these Fed outfits.

Even though Nike sucked the last couple years before Fed departed, I hate to say it but they were definitely better at designing.

They are f'ing up big time and I actually supported them when he initially made the switch.

Gave them a pass on first year thinking they would do better the following years but its like they don't even try. No creativity, simple block colors only. They have Federer in his last years on tour and to keep producing crap is just wrong.

Nice Vapor 9.5's :0. That's another thing Nike should bring back.

Good news, I stocked up.

Bad news, the toes are cracked from being stored, and the glue isn't so hot. I threw the pair in the picture out because I blew out the side in a singles match.

Way better than the Nike baby poop color shorts and grandma's curtains. Roger has always been fairly conservative in his clothing choices. If he hadn't signed with Uniqlo before last year's US open he would have looked like a refugee from Star Trek in the kit Nike had for him there. It was hideous
