Should big 3 retire together at the same time ?

  • First Federer, other two after they turn 38

There is some weird talk going on bcs certain people are fed up ( :rolleyes: ) of current situation in tennis, and apparently they want to see big 3 go away asap.
Should they go all together... ?

You needing to go that road shows how weak your arguments are in the first place. It even doesn't make sense as Federer definitely wouldn't have wanted the overall slowdown of the surfaces. Just a facepalm after facepalm with your posts.

Yeah, they might even resurrect him, making a petition and everything. Tennis_pro could be right. It would be cringe all the way, but I can see it happening.

What road I took that you didn't ? Saying that Nadal and Djokovic don't attract crowd enough into tournaments and that whole tennis business will crumble after Fed is gone, is not really fact related. On the other hand, what I did say is actually backed up with facts - tournament organizers are asking Fed which surfaces he likes the best and in some cases are luring him to play there putting the coat he prefers.

You cannot even make a decent resume of what I said. I mean, look at the conclusion in bolded: nowhere in my post is there anything like that.

Of course, your "fact related arguments" are also an absolute BS. Firstly, it is not "tournaments", but one tournament. Secondly, in no phase of the process was Federer the driving force behind the decision of the tournament, and third, there is a factual proof that the tour as a whole moved away from Federer's preferred conditions toward the conditions preferred from Nadal and Djokovic. Not to mention the direct threat of both to not play Madrid, if the blue clay stays. Not to mention the information that players and their coaching staff were meddling in the decision of the US Open about the surface, requesting to be slowed down.

Like I said, facepalm after facepalm.

I’m not sure something will stop them, but their meltdown should be fun to watch. First we’ll see all the cringe worthy threads about #ThankYouRoger, and how they will never watch tennis again, but when the dust settles they’ll try their best to discredit everyone and everything on tour.

The art of letting go is one of the hardest things a human can do. So its understandable they have some over emotional reactions. But still, that is life and not my problem until I have to deal w that myself.
Being a Rafa fan, the injured player, we have retirement plans in the back of our heads long time. What is kind of nice now, seeing Rafa adapts his game so he can play longer (finally! hihaaa), I dont worry he will retire in the next 2 years time. He has shown he want to play longer. But in a way, think many Rafa fans will take retirement it easier than Novak and Fed fans. Im just thankful and happy he is actually playing.

Yes you are right, it was always "today could be the day" for you. Not pleasant feeling at all. For Novak fans I think it is understandable, because we know how much our fav is worth and what is he capable of, we know how long he is chasing Rafa and Roger, and it would really sting if he wouldn't be able to at least tie his Slam number with theirs.
As for Roger.... it is really weird. Instead of just accepting the fact that this guy has been a bit too long on circuit, his fans are never ever satisfied. Not with Bel18ve, Bel19ve nor with 20. Hope they can start liking Zverev. :sneaky:

It is not that long really. Up until around 2015 when it became clear that his main opposition is dropping in level and there is noone to stop him from the younger generations Djokovic was trailing considerably, so even his own fans didn't think that he is capable of catching up to the other two. Only when the full scale of the disastrous state of the tour became clear some posters around here started to talk him up, so it has been only, what, 4 years, and many, including some very vocal are still giving preference to Nadal over Djokovic to surpass Federer even from your own fanbase.

What is the case with Australian Open ? The same company that is applying surfaces at Basel and infamous Paris Masters is new partner for AO as of 2020. How come Basel and Paris surface doesn't suit Federer's game ?
If Paris director was foolish enough to admit it, and even was proud of it, what makes you think he is the only one who is tweaking this and that so beloved Fed would be satisfied ? You think all of them will come out in the open like that Paris fanboy ? :rolleyes:
And sayng Fed likes it fast is just a myth, like one that he is S/V player instead of being baseliner.

They will like any player that can beat Novak and Rafa. "Graceful" play will not be important anymore.
Hopefully not everyone will be like "everything was better in the old days", but that too is a human trait. We hang on to what felt good once and cannot let go and appreciate what is happening now. I dont expect much from them, I rather be surprised and happy for those that manage to still enjoy tennis w open eyes!

Basel has always been typical indoor long before Federer was playing there, and Paris was actually slowed down post 2011, so whatever your claim is, you must check your facts first.

Federer beat the king of S&V playing S&V and his record on whatever is/was left from the fast surfaces on the tour speaks for itself. I don't have to make more arguments than there are available already.

In 2010, the courts of the Paris Masters were sped up, after Fed's permanent whining about the speed of the courts everywhere. But he didn't win in Paris! In 2011, the courts were slowed down and then he won.
An excerpt from an article (2011, autumn):
¤¤ In recent years Bercy [the Paris Masters] has always been the anomaly in the ATP tour, with its super-fast indoor courts often producing surprise champions. But after last year [2010] saw Robin Soderling crowned as champion, the organizers made the deliberate decision to slow down the surface allegedly based on complaints from players that the courts were too fast. ¤¤


The courts in Basel, at the Paris Masters and at the WTF in London have been same and made by the same person(s).

That could be the solution. Eventually everybody gets tired of them and start to be more enthusiastic about rest of the tour.

I am ready for all of them to retire, but there isn't any reason besides their own personal agenda for them to reitre yet. I think Fed and Nadal, while still having a strong desire to compete at the highest level, are ready to move on to the next chapter of life. They have accomplished so much and are two of the games greatest ever. Djo still is driven to prove himself and I see him hanging on the longest.
