What actually happened to roger??

Well, I could not watch the match as it was on a midnight schedule.
Can anyone elaborate what happened in that Roger Rublev match??
You just don't beat roger 6-3 6-4 in cincinati....

He has only himself to blame..
Some Losses are worse even if you don't hold championship points..

I'm asking about rublev match though, what exactly happened??

No loss is worse lol. He would have held a 21-15 lead, instead its 20-16. Two championship points on his own serve. How could something be worse?

"It's just, you know, sort of fast-court conditions, and, you know, when you sometimes then can't rely on that serve to go or on the one-two punch, which I didn't think was excellent today from my side, you need an opponent that maybe lets you get by some tougher moments, but he didn't do that. "

Basically what's been happening since 2017 in the USO series. Seems to invest so much in Wimbledon that he simply can't give a damn afterwards. Basis this, I don't see him doing too well at USO either but who knows.

He's faced these types of losses before (even worse) and recovered very well pretty quickly

Yeah, don't believe the Nadalovic gang. Has nothing to do with this loss. Fed looked exactly like he did against Cilic in USO 2014. Just flat and as if he couldn't give af.

Dude, Roger is 38 freaking years old. What do you mean "What happened to Roger"? You should look at his career at this point as every big tournamet finals and title is a bonus to his rich career.

Rublev made 5 UE in set1.
Then a total of 1 UE in set2.
This was GOATing Rublev.
And Fedr played poorly to boot.

Remember set1 of blue clay Madrid09 finals beatdown from Berdych? Fedr was blown off the court in that set1, and he played worse here against a well-playing Rublev.

Just a bad day at the office. I'm not worried yet.

hahahahahah..Rublev GOATED? funniest delusion yet.
How many times do I have to ignore you for you to realize that I don't give a S about you? One more dumb reply and say hello to my ignore list. Then your 41-year old loser a** can sit all day and produce replies to me that I will never see.

Its a high bouncing court, higher than usual and Federer, as I keep saying, is average on a high bouncing court as his BH fails. Federer is the most one dimensional player of the big 3. Not a huge surprise for me as I called it...my thread saying he looked broken was deleted for apparent baiting, when of course I was correct. I saw this coming two days ago!

Its ok...you are upset. I get that, but I am posting facts. Facts trump opinions.

No! there is nothing worse than that in Open Era history. No need to keep rubbing it in.

No Wim2019 was the worst. He was not the best player at these tournaments, except maybe for Rome 2006 but it was a Master 1000. At Wim2019 he was and had 2 f*****g title points

Federer wasn't the best player at Rome 2006, it was Nadal. Federer barely got past Almagro and Nalbandian to get to the final, Nadal was crushing everyone on his way to the final. The final was dead even though.

Your right, he did, but then the context was different. Losing tight matches in a slam when you're still relatively young stings but you always have next year/slam ahead of you. Federer is slowly closing in on 40 which means getting to a slam final is getting progressively harder as he's fighting an uphill battle and for all we know, it might have been the last slam final of his career. Coming so close (2 MP) to winning another slam against one of your main rival is going to leave a mark no doubt about that. You might argue that Fed lost IW final last year and he bounced back, but I don't think you can compare an MS-1000 to a slam. MS-1000 mean little compared to a slam when you look at the big picture.

Even before the Rublev match, I was looking at Fed in the 2nd round against Londero and his heart didn't look in it. He looked unmotivated as if he didn't want to be on the tennis court which is something I've rarely seen from him. If we see the same kind of attitude at the USO and he loses in the 1st week, then I think we'll have more reason to be worried.

His worst performance from a total points won % perspective since the 2016 Aussie Open semis loss to Novak Djokovic. Terrible outing for Fed yesterday.

I'm not looking forward to reviewing Rublev's renaissance because I found it very hard to digest the above-mentioned match. That was when I made peace with Fed's slam count, concluding he'd win no more.

I know why. RG got distracted by Kgyrios’s poor behaviour, and he might consider dropping him out of the Laver Cup.

No that was the worst.

I think it was the worst given the amount of runway his career has remaining. Could be a hangover effect. To the point - what happened with Rublev (and not to take anything away from young Rube) - one scenario might be ‘I’d rather rest before the USO than play a and win Cincy’. So he makes the appearance, tanks it (with more flair than Nick) and preps for the next week instead of playing matches.

Then again, he might have just lost.

Rublev was just the much, much better player yesterday.

no need to give fed any excuses about a hangover from wimby. next gen straight setted him and sent him to new york early.

That's how it appeared to me, too. I'm hoping we'll see him looking sharp again for the USO. If not, I'll start worrying a little...
