Say that and Kenin immediately breaks Keys again

And keys immediately breaks kenin again. Kenin can’t hold serve after breaking. Not used to seeing kenin not able to win points on serve. She’s losing points on serve so easily. Keys will win in straights.

keys played well, she hit an amazing on the run. looking forward to the final. i know keys has a 3-0 against sveta, and apparently has never lost a set, but im going for a competitive match.

Barty-Kuznetsova 2:6, 4:6
Thanks to Kuznetsova's victory over Barty, Osaka will remain in the first place in the WTA ranking and will be the 1st seed at the US Open.
This keeps Osaka just over 100 pts ahead of Barty. Will have to see if Naomi's knee is 100% for the USO. Could easily lose the top spot in the next few weeks.

Halep and Keys take the matching outfits to a whole new level with matching accessories: hats, shoes and bags- a wedding guest nightmare :)
Quite often, on shots of the full court, it was sometimes difficult to keep track of who was who. Especially when Maddie & Simona were both wearing the visor -- or both had taken it off. Had to listen for who was making more sound on her strokes. Did notice that Simona has been noticeably quieter on the court in the past 2 weeks tho'. Had given some the impression that she's not been trying as hard.

Keys should win tomorrow. Although she could also hit 112 Unforced errors and lose in a landslide.
Sveta was very solid today and got many balls back in play. If she plays like that tomorrow, Keys will have to be very patient and focused otherwise she could very well hit herself right out of the match. Kuzzy has the variety and defensive skills to exploit a sloppy Madison... should be an interesting match! Personally, I'm pulling for Sveta, but glad to see Keys back in another final. I just hope she isn't peaking too early and doesn't lose this form come USO

Can't believe that AD was trying to make a case against Simona. Cited 2 examples of her retiring in the past 2 yrs where he didnt bother to look into the very valid reasons for those retirements. Dehydration & heat exhaustion in DC in 1 case. Diagnosed (MRI) with herniated disc days after the 2nd case. Had been dealing with Achilles as well as back problems at that time. Ended the 2018 season early (Sept) cuz of that.

I recall Serena flaking out of BOWC (Stanford) on several occassions starting in the late 00s. She would commit to play & then pull out just before event... not just once or twice. Never even showed up for autographs, interviews or other tournament events. In 2008, she was down a set & an early break in the 2nd set vs qualifier, Aleksandra Wozniak. She retired a few games into the 2nd set.

This might have very well been legit. But she did play in a subsequent event. She ended up winning the US Open a few weeks later. She had such a rep for flaking out at Stanford, the tournament organizers stopped putting her in the foreground for promo banners, pamphlets & bus ads prior to the event... they started putting her in the background cuz they didnt trust her to show up. Not sure what happened last year, but she put in a dismal performance against Konta in 1R (6-1, 6-0). To her credit, SW did win at Stanford 3x. But she's had a troubled history with this Stanford/SJSU event.
You REALLY need to get over yourself, it's been over a week and I haven't even posted about Halep in a number of days.
Honestly, grow up, your obsession is annoying and bordering on concerning. Move on.

Brilliant to see Kuznetsova in the Cincy final, her 13th Premier+ final in her career.

Her first Premier+ final since Indian Wells in 2017 where she somehow lost to Vesnina..

It would be her 3rd Premier+ title after winning the 2006 Miami Open against Sharapova and the 2009 China Open over Radwanska.

She's skyrocketed 91 spots to #62 in the world with the final, the title will take her too #44. I'm guessing she'll need a WC into the US Open since she wouldn't have made the ranking deadline for top 100.

Meanwhile, Keys finding her groove at the right time. She's defending SF points at the USO and was at #29 in the race rankings so she needed some points.

She can rejoin the top 10 at #10 with the title.

No, Kuznetsova will play in the main draw, she was helped by the withdraw of Cici Bellis:

Pull for the old timer Kuznetsova to win another title over Keys! Keys always loose in the finals anyways! Why should this be different?

I don't think Kuzzy has a chance. But it would be great if she'd pull the win. Also would be a nice slap in Sharapova's face, because Kuznetsova is everything what Sharapova is not.

Do they still have bad blood? I remember the Russians didn't like Maria circa 2004 but haven't really heard about that in years (I guess because pretty much the whole tour hates her now?)

Madison Keys wins the Cincinnati Open.

Clutch tiebreak by her to win in straights.

Lovely hug at the net between the two as well.

Sloane finally leaves the top 10 after what feels like an entire year of mediocre results. Keys now the #2 American at #10.
