We have lost in such manner plenty of times over the last decade or so and never got sympathy for that, with the simplistic explanations how you don't deserve it if you don't score more than the opponent. Apparently context becomes important when we are discussing someone else. Those who don't like United gave the explanations why they actually didn't deserve to knock out PSG. Not replacing Lukaku with anyone will make it tougher, but I think they are not creating a lot for Rashford and Martial to work with anyway. When the opponents keep Pogba quiet, there goes a big threat, and he sometimes does a wonderful job at keeping himself quiet as well. Like today. Mata and Alexis are also too much past it to make the impact they used to be well known for.

That's what cups are for, testing everybody's form in the moment and giving weaker teams a chance, while a European competition is up for grabs for any winner, even extreme, relegated cases like Wigan. No "neutral" wants to see a 6-0 demolition like the last FA Cup final. We see way enough of those matches in the leagues.
Back when Madrid and us would comfortably finish La Liga with 90+ points, I heard that spoke about the poor quality of the rest. Even though the goal difference is not our first tiebreaker so there is clearly less motivation here to at least keep the scoreline closer once you are getting beaten. And again, no sign of such talk now when City and Liverpool both got nearly 100.
But yes, just one bus breaking goal is very satisfying.

Our Copa would have delivered more often recently if there weren't two legs in all rounds before the final. But even before the most modern times, Barca and Real had long droughts in that competition. We are talking 10 and 17 years. Yet it was wonderful witnessing other clubs delivering good football and winning that competition. Well, Espanyol aside.

It's not as exposed as much as I would like unfortunately.
Maybe next time they will think twice before letting go one of their best midfielders and their best goalscorer, without replacing either one of them.
How can you make that many poor choices in the last several years while having the resources to remain at the top is beyond me... Then again we don't have to look further from our own backyard to find another bad example of that.
We are not doing much with the possession compared to the past either. A lot of opponents have been able to impose their game at their grounds recently. Which is bad news for us since we usually have to dominate. The two Champions League titles we won in this decade were back when we were realistically head and shoulders above the rest. Teams like Real and Liverpool thrive in tight, dramatic situations, which is how they won their recent titles. Manchester United in the past as well... We want to avoid that, which makes it a lot more difficult considering the strong competition at the top.
It should have been 7 points now if our guys knew how to take penalties. But then we'd collapse next week, guaranteed.

Our B team winger Carles Perez was lively and crowned his performance with a nice goal, getting away from his marker with one touch and scoring with the next one into the low corner, just outside the penalty area. Rafinha had another good showing and it would be a shame to lose him. De Jong was the most composed of midfielders. Vidal came off the bench and minutes later finished a quick counter attack move with the most precise of finishes into the very corner.
Pique made his 500th Barcelona appearance. However it's little Anssumane Fati who will never forget this game. Brought on for Perez with a little over 10 minutes left, at only 16 years of age, he became the youngest player to feature for Barcelona since 1941. And he showed no fear, taking players on like he's been there before...
Predictably, the defense wasn't praiseworthy. Couldn't have done anything with Loren's goal, long range rocket that happens. The first one was poor. Loren split it wide open and their new signing Fekir easily finished the move. And it's far easier to threaten our goal these days. That part of the squad is the reason I don't trust this team anymore. You can get away with a bad day in La Liga, but what if Leo and the rest in attack have an average day in Europe?
The one who has made headlines is Griezmann, who scored a brace and assisted on his Camp Nou debut. First time finish from Roberto's chipped ball for the equalizer, and then bending it into the far corner just outside the area for the lead. Kind of Suarez-like and Messi-like goals, fittingly in their absence. He said if he has to say sorry, he will do it on the pitch. This is nowhere close yet, but it's a good start.
