Félix has made R16 in Montreal.

In Manerbio, teenage fratricide in R16 with Piros facing CH Tseng.

A happy birthday to both Félix and Tseng! They are now 19 and 18 respectively.

Earlier today, in the quarter-finals of the ITF tournament in Chiswick, London, Jack Draper defeated fellow hope Paul Jubb, 7-6(3), 6-3. That's twice in two weeks that Draper has won an encounter with Jubb. In the semi-finals no. 5 seed Draper will take on the Austrian Jurij Rodionov, who is the top seed.

Sad celebrations yesterday for both Félix and Tseng, both blowing first set advantages. Zsombor Piros advances in Manerbio over Tseng but lost in the QFs today.

Yes, a very good win earlier today for Jack Draper over Jurij Rodionov in the semi-finals of the ITF tournament in Chiswick. The 17-year-old English player won easily, 6-1, 6-4. In tomorrow's final Draper will take on the veteran Dutchman Igor Sijsling.

I was rooting for Kecmanovic. Glad he proved he was worthy of the belief - Felix is doing fantastic work so far, Kecmanovic is only just now showing some measure of consistency. We need to see more.

Was going to do the same thing, but I'd rather not be heartbroken over both losing a PPL pick and Kec losing. Congrats though!
Just had a hunch the collapse vs Silent K on his birthday was going to leave a hangover, something Kec dealt with better in qualies here after a week off following that bad loss to Gombos in D.C.

In a teenage fratricidal QF match at the Cordenons (IT) Challenger, Hungarian Zsombor Piros beat Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild 4&4.

Piros will face Aussie Christopher O’Connell in the Saturday SF.

Miomir Kecmanovic’s run to the TRS R16 ended in a defeat at the hands of the veteran RBA but he earned that spot with a 2R upset of troubled (20 DFs) Alexander Zverev in three sets.

Piros’ nice run ended today in his SF loss to O’Connell at the Corderons Challenger.

At ATP250 Winston-Salem, the Canadian teen Taha Baadi received a qualifying WC but lost 4&4 to Wake Forest alum Borna Gojo. Miomir Kecmanovic is in main draw as the #13 seed and receives a 1R bye. He will play either Thiago Monteiro or Alexei Popyrin.

Having won the boys’ singles event at the USTA Under-18 National Championships in Kalamazoo, Michigan, a week ago, 16-year-old Zachary Svajda has been awarded a wildcard into the main singles draw at this year’s U.S. Open where he will be the youngest player in that particular draw.

Martin Damm, Jnr. and Toby Kodat won the boys’ doubles title at the same tournament and have thus been awarded a wildcard into the main doubles draw at this year’s U.S. Open. Apparently Toby Kodat is the half-brother of former WTA player Nicole Vaidisova. Martin Damm, Jnr. is, of course, the son of former ATP player Martin Damm.

Brooksby wins 2 TBs to advance to qualie final round. Spaniard Pedro Martinez leads Tommy Paul by a set and a break in the match to determine his opponent.

Kuhn goes down to Lacko in straight sets.

Kec goes down. He simply didn't have enough to trouble Shapo. I think he looked a bit tight. Not surprising.
Their familiarity should have broken any nerves. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a strategic tank, having played 12 matches beginning in Atlanta.

May be his last teenage match...turns 20 on August 31. If he wins he will get one more teen fling.
I keep wanting him to do well. We were born in the same hospital on the same day and both interested in tennis. (Clearly one of us has done better though!)

If he plays on our birthday, he better win!

Sinner escaped from 2-5 down in the third set vs Galovic by reeling off 5 games in a row, 4-6 7-6 7-5.

Plays Vilella Martinez for a MD slot.

Would be deja vu for fedr if Sinner wins and gets the 1R qualie slot...slim, redhead in a Nike kit in Cincinnati and 1R USO.

Sinner and Brooksby both advance, in three sets and two sets respectively. Sinner bageled his opponent in the second set.

Not forgetting 16-year-old American wildcard Zachary Svajda, who was due to face Kevin Anderson in the first round. However, Anderson has now withdrawn and the American will instead face a lucky loser in the form of the 37-year-old Italian Paolo Lorenzi.

You're right. I did miss that. Good call.

Brooksby is planning to enroll at Baylor in January. He will dominate college tennis if he enrolls. I mean dominate. That being said, I don't think he will enroll and will turn pro after the US open.
