Prince Textreme Tour 100 (310) Thread

RacquetTune is a pretty inaccurate app, it doesn't work on android. It only works on iPhone.
TennisTension is a much more accurate application compared to RacquetTune for measirung string tension. I just put a new set of strings on the racket, tension at 25kg. TennisTension is showing 24.5kg, RacquetTune is showing 18kg. I've tried a few rackets so far.

I'm not sure if the RacquetTune is relevant to the other options it offers.

I've been skeptical from the start of dreamy utopian iphone apps that measure your string tension for you----realistically, look at all the variables involved in this.

Ok so I used the Swing Tool app. Really enjoyed it and seems to give some consistent readings. And it clarified things a bit, especially my whole trouble of understanding why my Ultra Tour and PT630 gave similar readings for SW using the manual method, although the PT630 feels a lot heavier. This is what I got:

Prince TT310 - strung with Poly Tour Spin 1.20mm/synth gut + overgrip:
329g static weight, 323mm balance, 326 SW

Wilson Ultra Tour - strung with RPM Blast 1,25mm/synth gut + wilson leather grip + overgrip + dampener:
338g static weight, 323mm balance, 330 SW

Head Pro Tour 630 - strung with Cyclone 1,20mm + kimony leather grip + 2 overgrips:
348g static weight, 323mm balance, 353 SW

Sorry, it is SwingTool as someone pointed out. I own both and got confused
It’s a very good app. It won’t be as accurate as an RDC reading but in my case it is inaccurate by a small and consistent amount which is better than random errors.
My rackets come in at 333 on the RDC and 331 on SwingTool...when I buy a new racket I tune it to 331 on SwingTool and I know that I’ve got my perfect 333 swing weight.

Ok guys, so I take back what I said about the SwingTool app lol... I managed to finally find an RDC machine here, and got everything measured. Stiffness measurement was broken which is a bummer, but here are all the results, a little off from what the app gave me. I added leather grip to the Prince btw, will test it tomorrow, let's see what happens.

Prince Textreme Tour 310
Weight: 338g - Yonex leather + Yonex OG + Poly Tour Spin 1.20mm + Prince Synth Gut 1.25mm
Swingweight: 315
Balance: 311mm

Wilson Ultra Tour
Weight: 330g - Wilson leather + Yonex OG + RPM Blast 1.25mm / Head Synth Gut 1.30mm
Swingweight: 312
Balance: 318mm

Head Pro Tour 630 1
Weight: 348g - Kimony leather + 2 Yonex OGs + Luxilon Alupower Rough 1.25mm + Gamma Ocho TNT 1.25mm
Swingweight: 331
Balance: 321mm

Head Pro Tour 630 2
Peso: 349g - Kimony leather + 2 Yonex OGs + Cyclone 1.20mm (339g without the OGs)
Swingweight: 339
Balance: 321mm

A couple curious findings from this day at the playground with an RDC:
- My two PT630s (Made in Austria) have a relatively high SW difference which is a little surprising
- The PT630 1 was strung with Solinco Hyper-G 1.05mm before and I restrung it with the Alupower/TNT hybrid over there. The racquet gained 6g static weight and 11 points of SW, which was way more than I was expecting.. seems strings have a huge effect
- Swapping the Prince cushion for a Yonex leather grip in the TT310 gave the racquet an extra 10g, but only 1 point of SW

I'm really curious to test the Prince again, now that it's considerably more HL than all other sticks I'm used to playing.

Between these three setups which did you prefer? Could you please compare them for me? Was the gut/poly hard to control or lacking in spin vs. The other two. I am using full poly Kirsch max power 17g at 48lbs and interested in trying gut hybrid but don't want everything to sail. Thanks!

Are you using 16gauge version of FireWire boost? Have you tried other full poly setups in this racquet to compare? I am curious if this setup is too thick for the tighter 16x18 center and if the spin is noticeably better than 17g poly like proline2 and max power.

Firewire Boost only exist in 17g.

I prefer Quadro Twist/Lyon (you get QT in Germany under another name for 4 Euro a set). Its my combi for matchplay. I really like the blend of control, power, feel and comfort. access to spin is good. I can get my 10h of constant playing.

Gut/Poly is for me too powerfull even with high tension in this racquet. I came from Phantom Pro 100 and because of elbow and wrist pain gut/poly hybrid was perfect in this beam. Now, I think Ghostwire is also not the right cross string for me to tame the gut in the Prince TT100. Sure,Comfort and feel is great.
But I always use gut/poly for the warm up by every session.

....but you can order firewire and ghostwire separated in 16-18gauge

Yes of course but the real Firewire Boost package is only available in 17g. :p

Could someone compare Angell TC100 with TT310, power spin control, which one is easier to play from baseline / volley / all-round?

weell bruno, let us know how the new grip works----does it impact shock/vibration you feel?
Much better with leather... more feel on the grip and the racquet is a little heavier which is nice. Didn't feel that much difference when hitting, as SW remains unaltered. Maybe a little more stable, but could be completely in my head. Currently sitting at 338g strung, I think that's my limit.

I still think it's not a powerful racquet, which is funny comparing to what other people are saying.. It's strung with Poly Tour Spin 1,20mm + synth gut at 42/45lbs...

You are wrong. Click the link, choose the color, (it only comes in red) then select the gauge 16, 17 or 18 gauge. Then write an apology!! Just kidding about that part. I have many sets of 16g firewire boost, and if i knew how to post a photo i would!!

I own 2 of each...my TC100s are the 70RA versions.

They are very similar...the TC100 hits bigger serves but the TT310 is no slouch either.
Both on par for spin...probably give a slight edge to the TT310 for everything else.

IMO:
Baseline: TC100 (think of it as a comfortable pure drive)...but TT310 isn’t far behind.

Volley- TT310

All Round- TT310 > don’t know if there is a better All Rounder!
The only one that comes to mind is the TT100P (18x20 version of the TT310)...that may be the perfect All Rounder...bought it for doubles but no noticeable loss of spin with better control and slightly lower launch angle...thinking of making it my main racket.

One more observation - asa TE sufferer, the TT310 is exceptional for the RA rating...zero elbow pain with full polys like HyperG.

I like the set up. I have used Firewire 16G and it just was a little harsh compared to the boost. Also used Luxilon Smart, that was a string I did not like. It seemed to hit a different ball every swing, very unique, but very bad for me. Also used Luxilon 4G soft and really liked it, could feel the ball and let it rip. Might be switching to it. But it is pricey!

Thanks for the reply, saved me some time from my gut hybrid. I was already getting plenty of power on my full poly and this confirms it for me.

Thanks for the comparison, so it looks like Firewire Boost is your second favorite setup behind 4G soft? Did you get more spin with the Firewire Boost 16gauge over the 4G soft? Would you mind comparing feel, spin, touch, power, control between the two and what tension you used? Appreciate it!

As of now in my TT310 I'm loving the basic round polys more than anything else. I'm a Ytex fan and have tried just about all of their shaped and textured strings. Then I tried their ProTour white 16g and found myself generating just as much spin with a round poly as a textured but found it much easier to flatten out the ball when needed. But with the open 16x18 pattern that stuff wasn't lasting very long.

I have found that Tourna's Big Hitter Silver 16g at 49lbs is a very durable string and gives you as much spin as you could possibly need with this racquet. And the flattened out put away shots are like a dream!

I think a reel of the Tourna is in my near future. Then I'll mess with tension especially as fall and winter begin to set in.

I have played with TT100P for some time and still have it as one of my main racquets, but the main issue I had with TT100P was lack of some control and some discomfort in stock form. With changing grip, increasing weight, SW and softer strings TT100P become more comfortable and more stable. Great on serves which is one of the main criteria for me as well as comfort, control and stability. I also have a TC100 which I enjoy from the baseline, also provides more control due to narrower beam, while being stable, comfortable and great on serves. The patter is a bit too open for my liking and I don't play with huge spin, more flat in general.

I am tempted for Tour 100 reading reviews, but haven't seen much on the following (maybe I have missed some of the threats);

1) How is performs on the serves compared to TT100P which is already very good for serving?
2) How is it for OHBH, with high SW/twistweight, I expect it to perform well
3) How about flatting out shots? How open is the pattern compared to TC100 and TT100P? I guess somewhere in the middle

Most likely I will go ahead and try it as I love the brand & Tour paint-job, but curious to know how others felt especially about the serving, OHBH and flat shots.

Thank you.

I think anyone who thinks this is a powerful stick has never played with a Pure Drive.. damn, my Pure Strike was more powerful.

fwiw, I've usually used RAs of about 59 and I've swung a Pure Strike. yeah, these are more powerful. But I put a lot of myself in the racquet swing.

So here's my considerations. I'll give this one more try before setting aside the 310.

(1). I can string it up quite tight with dead poly----suck out the power this way. . . although (a) it'll make the thing hurt my arm, and (b) I never cared for poly strings due to their quick tension loss and higher cost and reduced ball feel: to me, poly is a lose-lose proposition.

(2). I can change how I swing my strokes: alter all my racquet handling, in order to accomodate the stiffer frame, and keep the ball in.

(3) sell the thing.

I can appreciate, fwiw, that people coming from way stiff racquets might consider this buttery. But the flip is true: if you're coming from a frame with flex, this one's stiff.

Sounds like you should check out the 95 tour or the 93 phantom.

Feel that most players would assume a 100 is going to have some easier power.

Then there is the o3 tour as well.

Lots o' choices!

X-perience!
Haha, hybrid first finally. But I think the tension is too much for me, I lacked power, and the frame is way less powerful than the U100. So it will be 19/21 next time or 18/20.
I did try the X-perience in the 2nd set, when the game was already lost, and lack of power too. 18 or19kg would be the right tension for me.

Except the lack of power, I loved the maniability and the confort as expected. The hybrid seems to be damaged quite quickly, so maybe I'll play with full bed mono on this racket.

I used the Gut/Velocity today. I liked it. Works fine.
Balls are still flying long sometimes.

More importantly, on my BH, I focused on a deeper backswing turn
and really breaking the wrists, and I was getting a lot of topDrive on the BH.

Reasonably similar insofar as they're both solid all round performers. The pattern on the solid beam TT310 is a bit more open than the DR and as such it's a little easier to access power and spin. Still has really good control though.

The TT310 is more stable for sure.

DR probably has a slight edge on comfort with a lower RA and the quake shut tech, but the TT is still pretty arm friendly despite the 65 RA. Definitely has a crisper response than the DR though.

I'm slightly favouring the O3 version due to the slightly tighter string spacing and comfort from the ports but the solid beam is still a great frame.

It's my view that the 310 is not an upgrade from the TT100P v.1.2015. . . it's stiffer and more of a stiff racquet than a racquet with some flex.

Not that the TT100P can be called flexy!

The stiffness level Is the reason I didn’t by the 310. I found the PP100P a bit too harsh for my taste. IMO the RA is misleading on most of the racquets made today. There’s no such thing as a really flexible racquet made today in light of the hype with Wilson Clash.

So are the Clash and Phantom lines the only flexible rackets today? The new Gravity line is “more” flexible but not really flexible? Or if we want flex we have to find discontinued frames like ProTour, old Prestige, etc. Are you playing with Phantoms?

Yonex VCore HD. New blade is also pretty flexy as well.

The clash and phantom pro are just a whole level of softness/flexiness above any other frames on the market.

They do it different ways: C is soft without much frame give whereas P has that old school frame cupping.

No, I played with the 100P Pro for a little while and found it harsh. I then went to the Pro Kennex 7G but not crazy about the balance and feel. I just bought the new Wilson Blade 98 16 x 19 v7 and I would say this frame is one of the most flexible racquets made today. I am more than likely going to switch to the new Blade. Good solid all around playability and arm friendly. I find the Blade more flexible then PP 100 P and with a bit more power.

I played with the Prestige for many years in my younger playing days.

In an other threat, there was a discussion on flexibility and comfort, and it was mentioned by many that comfort is not only a factor of flexbility, but more of weight, SW, TW and string and tension. I also play with much more stiff rackets than the above mentioned (with mid 50s RAs), which I dont find very stable, but if not strung right they feel more uncomfortable than more stuff rackets.. I play with low-mid 60s rsckets with a history or TE and sensitive arm, and have no issues with heavier weight 330-340gr SW (325-335) and NG/multi strings at mid tensions (at.leat in mains) or slightly higher, including TT100p. Not harsh at all and also plenty of power.
