I believe Rafa looks more menacing with sleeves. Sleeveless was fun for a couple years, but it's time to put them back in the cupboard.

Nadal is the first male tennis player in the open era to win 5 Majors being over 30 years old.
He surpassed giants of this sport like Laver, Rosewall, Federer and Djokovic who stayed with 4.

The Spaniard is the oldest tennis player to win the US Open since Ken Rosewall in 1970. And the oldest player to win the Open since playing on hard courts (1978).
The Aussie was 35 years and 10 months and 11 days. Nadal did it with 33 years, 3 months and 5 days.

Nadal and Connors are the only players in the open era to win the US Open twice being over 30 years old.

Nadal is the youngest player to win 19 Majors.
He achieved it with 33 years, 3 months and 5 days. Federer did it with 35 years, 11 months and 8 days.

And only Rosewall (37 years and 2 months), Federer (36 years 5 months and 20 days) and Gimeno (34 years, 10 months and 1 day) have won a Major older than Nadal in the Open Era.

Congratulations, champion!

Menacing is good when you are playing a sport where the head is part of it. Not that it probably matters though. I think Nadal prefers to play in sleeveless and nike pushed him to wear sleeves because they can sell more regular shirts than sleeveless.

Rafa has no more points to defend for the rest of the season. Djokovic has 2600 points to defend.
Did Rafa mention anything about chasing for the Year-End No1? I hope he becomes the Year-End No1 after all the difficult times in late 2018 and early 2019.

Fellow Rafa fans, what do you guys think of the situation of Rafa asking Medvedev to wait for him to be prepared for the return? Do you feel Rafa is in the wrong?

Don't love it to be honest, but the whole "Cheater!!!" narrative is tiring. On the one hand, Rafa absolutely does do this to control the rhythm of the match, but he's not exactly wrong about waiting for people to sit/for the crowd noise to die down either. He did it way before the fifth set, too, but of course that's the only one everyone is complaining about. Maybe we should commend him for giving the haters something to cling to ;)

He will do it and he will match with 5 Year - End No1 Connors, Federer and Djokovic.

He probably wants to rest a lot these next few months. He's got a wedding as well
He's playing the laver cup as well which will only tire him and he'll gain no points
Meanwhile I think djokovic is playing tokyo

Novak can only gain points from Tokyo. He was runner-up in Paris and WTF. Unless he wins both Paris and WTF, I think Nadal is most likely to be the Year-End No1 for 2019.

Nadal has a very good chance if he remains healthy but if he only plays 2 more events (Paris and WTF) then it will be very close. Djokovic is 2000 points behind Nadal now. That's a significant gap but his schedule is Tokyo, Shanghai, Paris, WTF. That's 4000 points in total and he is very good at these tournaments. It's unlikely that he will win everything but it's quite possible that he racks up ~3000 points. In that case, Nadal will need to win 1000+ points.

I watched this and the ceremony until 5:00 AM. Not a single regret. Totally, totally worth it. So many emotions, drama and great tennis. Incredible stuff. One for the ages. Congrats Rafa, congrats Daniil. My new 2nd favourite player (already for a couple of months). This is one of Rafa's sweetest victories. Vamos!

Since Madrid Masters Nadal only lost once to Fed this summer.

In Madrid he lost to Tsitsipas which marked his first season since 2004 without winning a single tournament in a year until then. Since this loss his results have been:

Rome - W (def. Djokovic)
RG - W (def. Thiem)
Wimbledon - SFs (only loss this Summer to Federer)
Toronto - W (def. Medvedev)
USO - W (def. Medvedev)

Quite impressive!

The Australian Open footage wasn't allowed, while the last five Slam winning moments were displayed live from the stadiums due to copyrights.

So much achieved over the years, yet he never took anything for granted. The kid he played last night showed us why that is the right attitude. It's not over until it's over. Let's do the same ourselves. Even though he is close to the record, let's just enjoy the moment and another great fortnight he delivered to tennis.

"With my age and with my goals, I cannot lose energy or time to follow the number one. I need to think about my career in a different way. For me, my main goal is play as long as possible and being competitive.

"Sometimes if you need to follow the number one, you going to lose years of your career. But I am there. If I am able to play well until the end of the season, I going to have my chances. That's going to be amazing."
