Doesnt mean anything. He also hadnt lost a set to Wawrinka but AO 2014 still happened. Never taking anything for granted after that.

Fell asleep right before the match started, so watched replay in the morning. First set reminded me of Mayer 2017 match, except Nadal was the better player all set. Berrettini has the firepower, but is often clueless what to do with it except for bash as hard as possible. Overall I’m satisfied. Feel like Rafa can get one or two steps better for the final like he did in Montreal.

Ah, it was terrible seeing him missing 6 break points in the first set. To be fair only one of them can be really called a missed chance, other that that Berrettini just served too well. Then he started the tie break from some terrible errors (including a double fault) and I was sure he was losing it. I have no idea how he managed to come back and win the tie break.

Overall, Nadal's return was bad, but other than that it was a pretty good match from him. At least the forehand was getting in, unlike against Schwartzman.

Except the return. On first serve return he was standing too far, on second serve too close. As a result he needed 10 break points to finally get his first break. He was also pretty nervous because he couldn't convert a BP, that made his return game even worse. But what I liked is that Berrettini himself didn't have even 1 BP during the match. Nadal really dominated in his own service games.

Kyrgios is a NextGen player. He is only 24. The cut-off point is 1995.

Yes, it is very convenient for you to cherry-pick those stats. 2017 is when Novak had his by far weakest year. Let's look rather at the slams. He beat Rafa at Wimby and AO.

It's slams that count by far the most.

Besides, OBVIOUSLY I'm talking about non-clay events. Though even there Novak and Rafa have been even since 2011/2012, 8-7 for Rafa.

This thing is not just about Thiem. Jack Sock (* 1992), Lucas Pouillle (* 1994) and others, do you think they belong to the Next Gen? Don't be ridiculous. Name Thiem's generation 1992-94 as you want, perhaps LOST GEN 2.0, but they don't belong to the Next Gen, next to Zverev, Tsitsipas, Shapovalov and others. By purposefully adding Thiem to the Next Gen group, you won't change the fact that Thiem was born in the first half of the 1990s, while Zverev, Shapovalov, Medvedev and others in the second half of the 1990s.
