Osaka splits from coach

UnderratedSlam

It's quite possible that he wasn't providing her with anything she felt was truly valuable to her. People tend to blame the player when there is a rift with the coach, but the reality is that sometimes the coach is the problem. Just because he was Serena's hitting partner doesn't mean he has credentials as a coach.
So the two slams are a mere coincidence? He got lucky?

Kim Clijsters announces her return to tennis after 7 years, Simona Halep announces that Darren Cahill will rejoin her team next year and now Naomi Osaka announces her split from Jermaine Jenkins. Anyone else?

If a player is changing her coach for every six months then you probably know where the fault lies !!! The fault is definitely not the coach's I would say.

The lesson to be learned in life is never to listen to those that only display "empathy" and "emotional support" and "feelings", listen to the objective criticism instead if you want whats best for you in the long term.

The objective person doesnt care about your feelings, they may be harsh, they may sound "mean" - but that candour and frankness also means theyll tell you the truth, not just blow smoke up your backside.
+ you can't be objective, when you don't have all the info. But that will not stop the odd armchair expert.

Often the problem is more the parents than the athlete.

Albeit I wouldn't judge the situation yet, maybe jenkins wasn't the right guy and she will find him now. Two bad choices in a row look bad but it can happen. If it is 3 or 4 that would be different of course.

The self-sabotage of the top female players over the past few years is extraordinary. It's happening too often to be mere coincidence. It makes you wonder whether it's some sort of systemic issue (not that I could imagine what that might be). Bianca seems very competitive and tough as nails, so she may finally break the mold. But - she's injury prone. Darn! So Serena will keep getting to GS finals till she's 46 and will likely win a couple of them.

You say this about the women’s as if the men don’t self sabotage...?

Jermaine Jenkins might still have a job if he continued working with Coco Gauff. He was recruited by Kathy Rinaldi to work with Gauff until Osaka's team contacted him in late February. Life choices, you never know ...

Because empathy has not helped you to make a decision, its basically the equivalent to you talking to yourself in the mirror and saying positive things about yourself. It might make you feel good in the short term but it hasn't helped you to make a better decision.

Its like asking: "what should I do - go left or go right?"

Their answer: "Yes".

In other news....Bianca Andreescu will dominate the WTA until 2025.

what's this moron done now?
These quotes aged well.

Osaka splits from Jermaine, goes on a 10 match winning streak winning Tokyo and then Premier Mandatory Beijing with wins over... Andreescu, Wozniacki and Barty.
