Out of 8 editions he'd maybe win 2 or 3 at most if both Federer and Djokovic were not in the draw. The guy needs his USO draws to win anything on HC. Any half-decent top 10 player on HC can take him down.

Let's see who Nadal will be losing to when he's 36-38 first. He's had a good streak recently but it's been a lot uglier for him than for Fed at times, especially in 2015-2016.

In its history, the WTF/YEC has always been a really weird tournament. The current incarnation is no less weird.
Because of the round-robin format, you can actually have a bad match. Because of the best-of-three format, you only have to hold your level for two sets. Because of the surface/environment, you have to be good at indoor hardcourt. Because of the point distribution system, the top few players don't actually net that much more points than the others. Coming in second (or even third) honestly is all you need to do in order to keep your ranking moderately safe.
It's just weird. Those factors can yield "champions" like Zverev and Dimitrov.
I've never given much credence to the YEC because it isn't a true "championship" anymore than Wimbledon is a "championship". Our year-end champion has always been determined by how a player has performed against the field for the entire season.
It certainly is much more than an exhibition because of the potential points it can yield. But at the same time, the distribution and time of season of the tournament makes it far less consequential. If a player has done their job throughout the season, the impact of the WTF is usually negligible. It has much more impact for players like Zverev and Dimitrov.

Considering his record on HC the fact that he is a 4 time USO champion is the ultimate joke. Djokovic must be boiling inside with the bad luck that he's had over the years and Nadal having all the luck in the world. Rod Laver could win the USO title with such draw and he's 80 years old.

Ask any player if they would prefer an Olympic Gold medal in singles vs a WTF title and I bet they’d all pick an Olympic Gold.
If I remember correctly, I saw a Tsitsipas interview the other day and he said that he would prefer an Olympic Gold over a Grand Slam Title.

Pro ... I'm glad Djokovic has won the WTF many times but I've always made clear my opinion of that event. IMO, greatness of a player has no relation to that event. The slams are the bench mark.

Sure, Djoker has been more successful at the WTF. When you are talking about the two greatest players ever, possibly the co-GOATs, Djoker will be better in some areas, Nadal in others. More power to him.
