You might become a fan of the Prince Phantom Pro 97P that is going to be coming out... ;)

Will definitely be on my hit list... though I have always preferred an 18x20 pattern. I like the gravity pro better than the phantom pro 100 18x20, particularly on serving. I was going to tail weight the gravity pro a bit but the more I hit with it the more I like it even in stock form

That said... I am a racket-holic so will def try the 97P haha

I’m wrapping up a week-long demo of the Gravity Pro and I have a lot of thoughts.

Context: I’m a lefty all court mostly doubles player. I’m also among the 93P fans looking for a little help on defense versus big hitting opponents. Lately I’ve been hitting with a Pure Aero Tour (the older, neon and black one), which has been kind of a roller coaster, so I’m looking for some more consistency. I play tested the GP alongside the 18x20 version of the Phantom 100. I preferred the GP. The Prince felt too noodly.

What I liked about the GP:
- You get out what you put in. This frame doesn’t give you much for free, but that made me a sharper player as a result. My play with the PAT could really shine, but I was prone to mental lapses, hoping I could get “free” winners with it, which made me play stupid. Not so with the GP.

- Plenty of variety. I felt like whatever shot I felt like hitting, I could hit with confidence (minus two exceptions I’ll address later). I was comfortable taking it easy with cross court exchanges or following big shots to the net for easy putaways. This threw my opponents off a bit, which is always a plus.

- Serves. My first serve isn’t wicked big, so placement is important for me. Similarly, my second serve is reliable, and has some kick, but is mostly effective cuz I’m left-handed. But If I’m playing with a frame where I can place the ball in the box wherever I want, I’ll still hold really easily, and that’s exactly what happened with the GP. In this morning’s match, a 6-2, 2-6, 10-4 for my partner and me, I had the third best serve of the four players there, but I held the most consistently cuz I had pinpoint control on first and second serves. At one point I had an ace called back on an incorrect call, and put the ball in the exact same spot on the second serve for a service winner. It was righteous.

-Volleys. I didn’t expect the GP to be as nimble at net as it was. I had some great stabs with it, and the better of our two opponents told me after the match that he stopped going after me at net, even though on most days, my partner is the better volleyer. Control and consistency were great.

Issues I had with the GP
-Overheads. I didn’t hit a single one cleanly. I only had 3 or 4 chances, and the sun was brutal, so this isn’t the worst thing, but it’s something to keep an eye on if I demo again/buy.

-Slices. This could be another sampling issue — since I was enjoying my other shots so much, I only tried a handful of slices. But I never quite felt comfortable going to that shot.

Need more time before I give a verdict
-Serve returns. This is my weakest shot, and at times I felt the GP responded sluggishly in this area, but at other times I hit some great returns. So I’m not sure yet.

I really enjoy this frame, but I’m wondering if I should try the new Blade since people really seem to dig it. What are y’all’s thoughts? Has anyone compared the two?

I’ve been using YPTP most of the time. I’ve tried several different polys on the Gravity Pro and nothing felt better than YPTP.
I am transitioning from the DR98 to the Gravity Pro.
YPTP is a great string and worked really well in the DR98.
I started with the 1.25 and settled on the 1.3 which tamed the power of the DR98 nicely for me.
The 1.3 might be a little low-powered in the Gravity Pro for me though - even at 44lbs.
Still early days but with the Autumn weather arriving, I will try;
(1) the 1.3 YPTP with a multi in the crosses and
(2) the 1.25 YPTP.
Next Summer I will also try gut in the mains and poly in the crosses.
My initial impression is that the Gravity Pro will work well with a variety of different string set-ups to suit individual player preferences and weather conditions.

Tried the Pro yesterday but it was with the factory strings.

I thought it comes around quickly for the specs, very plush and volleys are superb.

Wasn’t too impressed with the power on serves, ground strokes or returns but I could really hit my spots.

I guess there’s always a trade off.

Do you know what it was strung at? I felt the same way initially and am now sub 50 lbs on string and just crushing

If you’re lacking for power you might think about a multi-filament. I’ve been gaming Technifibre multifeel and Gamma Ocho XP and it’s a nice blend of control and power. I can hit with a pretty good amount of spin and power on my own so results may vary depending on your game. I thought I would never be able to play anything but poly, but tennis elbow has forced me to consider alternatives and I’ve been pleasantly surprised. I’ve only played with multi-filaments in the GP but I still get enough spin despite the 18x20 pattern which is something new to me. Hopefully I get healthy enough to try some poly’s.

Also to be clear my TE started before I ever picked up a GP. I would be wrecked playing with anything else. I have a Gravity Tour that I’m also looking to test, but I think the combo of plow, touch, spin, power, and control of the GP will be tough to beat for my game and what I want.

My Gravity Tour arrived this morning. Came factory strung - assuming it's the Head Lynx that's been mentioned already. Weight is at 325 and balance seems 1-2 point HL. Quite head heavy even compared to my Blade CV 18x20 (which is way off spec - thanks Wilson). Like the feel in hand. Initial thoughts is that I might need to tail weight it a tad more to get it closer to my preferred specs. Seems like it is strung low mid 40's?

Hoping to hit in the next day or so will report back.

Well I have finally made the decision to switch to the Gravity Pro from my RF97! I had some private coaching sessions recently where I used the GPro. He was pleased on how I performed during the drills. To back it up, I finally beat that one player that I had trouble with! My improvement is due to this amazing coach I found recently, but the tool I’m using in the GPro made me feel like it was the extension of my arm!

Has anyone using the 16x20 Gravity MP customized with weight? Love the feel but just wanting more power and depth. Thx

I installed leather grip (+approx 10 grams) and 4 strips of lead at 3 and 9 o clock with 2.5 grams each (total 10 grams). Felt very solid but i had problems keeping the ball in the court. Hit long all the time. With that specs i would have need a tighter tension then my regular 48 lbs

So with the Pro I find that I'm pulling it out of the bag more frequently now especially when the match gets "critical" compared to my old faithfuls (C10 Pro and Prince Tour 100 18x20). The Pro seems to nicely and without fuss bridge the gap between the C10 Pro (too much power and high launch angle) and the Prince Tour 100 18x20 (much less power, a bit light and unstable). It feels like I can trust it with just enough of everything.

My setup is:
1. 6 grams of lead at 6 and 9
2. Wilson Shock Shield Hybrid grip + OG
3. Poly/syngut at 42/45

It's currently at about 12.3 oz at 7-8pts. HL.

But... I'm not yet prepared to switch. I need more time and data.

This is what I'm wondering with the MP version. My daughter loves the racquet and wanted to switch from her Yonex DR 100 Lite but not sure how it performs in actual match situations. When I hit with it, the feel was amazing but every now and then a forehand will just fly out. I bought it for her anyway so we'll see this weekend in her tourney.

Any one has played both Wilson Clash Tour and this racquet? Would like to know the comparison as from specifications they are very similar. I am currently playing with the Clash tour which is excellent. Wonder if gravity pro worth a try.

Why didn’t you like the original pallets ? What pallets were they tk82s? That’s on the speed line . Head puts tk82s and tk57 on their prostocks.

They were the speed line pallets, tk82s. I’m starting to enjoy the more rectangular grips. I feel like it locks in FH/BH grips.

Except on the speed line it has a more fast feeling to the frame . And the tk82s feels more connected to the fast feel especially on extreme grips . And switching to 2hbh grip

I customized my Gravity MP with a Head Leather Tour Grip, Yonex Supergrap overgrip, and a piece of Gamma head protection tape up top. Brought the weight from 10.8 ounces to 11.5 ounces strung. My racquet has Head Velocity 16 string.

Overall, I am pleased with the results after customization as it improved all areas of the racquet. Manueverability went down a little bit as expected, but it was worth it for the performance benefits. Originally, I had trouble handling high balls to my 1-handed backhand, but I was able to adjust by choking up on the grip just a little bit.

I strung mine up with a hybrid of poly main and multi cross, and found the power on full groundstrokes to be too much. Anyone else experience this? I strung at 50 lbs on both.

Saw your post in the blade thread as well. Yea GPro is more powerful than the blade for sure. Simply crushes the ball.

I had mine strung at 57/54 and still found the balls to be flying all around. Reverted back to full poly for the time being

Oops... also I have 3 extra of the hat! Was not released in the US and is super high quality :) may do a giveaway soon IDK
Please can you write what is the factory weight of each racquet ?
My friend bought two Pros, one has 310grams, other racquet has 317 grams. Not a small difference.

I moded my Gravity MP Lite +4 gram on 3/9 and 5-6 gram heavier grip. And i had hard time to hit sweetspot but when i added additional 7 grams near the buttcap i suddenly start to hit sweetspot easily and play much better. I read that weight on handle make sweetspot lower on the racquet, so i wonder could it be the case that i hit sweetspot much easier with like only 7 gram added near buttcap?

Bought the Gravity Pro in Australia. It had a black poly string from the factory.
Wish I knew what string it was.
I was getting great spin on my serves.

Turns out that the racket I purchased is way off spec.
I didn't realise that Head quality control was so bad.

Balance unstrung is 32.2 vs 31.5
Weight is 311.2 vs 315

Factory strung, specs were:
Balance 33.2 vs TW specs of 32.4 i.e 3.2pts HL instead of 6pts HL!!!
Weight is 328.7 vs TW 332

My Swing Weight is 343 vs 332 TW specs that's using 17G (1.25mm) poly strings - VSquare Mains/Alu Soft crosses.

I think that's why I'm not getting the same spin on my serves...a swing weight of 332 is in the upper limit for me...I'm struggling with 343.

Really disappointed.

I had my first hit with the Gravity MP and I'm pretty impressed. The sweetspot is indeed very large, which is always a nice feature. I was ripping OHBHs with this frame, which I often struggle to do, especially with my current racquet of choice, the Prince Phantom Pro 100P. Serves felt good and I was hitting targets pretty well.

The flex is noticeable and much appreciated. I didn't feel any arm pain.

My only complaint is that it's a touch too unstable for my tastes. I think I'll put a little bit of lead at 3 and 9 and see how that works.

Not just Head and Wilson. Volkl too (15g difference with a pair of C10 Pro's). And same with Prince (I got a pair before from TW that was less than 27 inches). I think this is to be expected. If they're manufactured in China I think QC will generally be suspect. I've given up expecting ideal specs. I've taught myself how to customize and match racquets so ...

Wow - 15g difference...that's atrocious.

I remember ordering my first Angell TC100 and then ordering a 2nd one about 2 months later.
I provided the specs and my second one came in 0.2g off spec. Balance and swing weight identical.

I got 2 GPs strung them w hybrid gosen polygon mains gosen sheep crosses both 17 and 52lbs My hitting partner commented m shots were heavier my serves also heavier. The racket seems very smooth to hit with and does not have the hollow feel that many modern frames seem to have. The balls were coming off the racket well on m volleys. I feel head has got a winner with this frame I have always liked the prestige pro frames and this frame I feel is an improvement on the micro jell I had used

USTA 4.5 dude playing Head Hawk Touch 17g @ 52# in my Gravity Pros. They do everything well for both singles and doubles. Super comfortable, great control, good power, and I just seem to have a higher likelihood of winning the point with these. I still love my old FXP Liquidmetal Prestige MPs, but the GP makes the game much easier, especially serving. Recent sticks that I gave a go, but never embraced fully: nblade 18x20, Speed Pro (Graphene 360), VCore Pro 310g. The Gravity Pro is a must demo if you yearn for the Head weapons of old but need a modern game enhancer.

Been playing with the Pro and just picked up a Tour as well. Interesting how they play similar but different due to the swing weight. I really like the Pro in ground strokes, amazing stability, and my back hand slice is killer. But unfortunately I couldn’t get it working for volleys and it it was a long match the swing weight was a bit more difficult to come to terms with.

The tour has the same great control but with a touch more power, good feel and great for my ground strokes. Because it’s lighter I’m not behind on my volleys or overheads. The slightly thicker beam didn’t bother me and both are extremely comfortable.

I’m torn as to which of going to be my primary stick. For singles I’m reaching for the Pro and for doubles matches the Tour for now.

Both are strung with hybrid Babolat Vs and Alu Rough 54/52.

Can’t go wrong with either stick. I have long history of arm issues and was using a Clash before the Gravity and arm is doing well.

I might add a touch of weight to the Tour.

Unfortunately I failed to gel with my Gravity Tour.
I just couldn't dial in my forehand due to the erratic response from the string bed IMO.
Backhand & serves were good but I play with more variety (shape) on more forehand & the GT just liked hitting the ball 1 way or it will sail.

I have successfully switched to Prince TT100 (290g) weighted up to 310g spec.
The Prince isn't as flexy but the feel is damped & comfortable with a tad less power which is fine with me.
When I say damped I don't mean muted as the TT100 has a nice connected feel with the ball which I like.
I came from Prince Phantom Pro 100 XR Asia only model & that was crazy muted & disconnected being totally filled with foam from head to handle.
If the GT is cushy plush, the TT100 is crispy plush. Both have a nice connected feel.
I do miss the flex of the GT but the TT100 was just more user friendly overall.
