What overgrip is the best for sweaty hands

IME I’ve yet to find the best of both worlds - tacky, but absorbent enough to soak up enough moisture on a hot humid day.

So, I use Wilson pro most of the time. When it’s hot, I break out the tourna grip.

Can confirm that wilson overgrip does not hold up to extreme heat and humidity, though I like it otherwise.

I have found that Yonex Supergrap and Wilson Pro Sensation (25% thinner than normal Pro) can get a bit wet/clammy when it is hot and humid out. Volkl V-Dry is much superior in these conditions but is a bit thick for my liking and not tacky.

Good news is that most of the time I am playing in dry conditions so Supergrap gets the job done.

The super Grap gets kind of ruined after like 8 hours of playing

Yes, it does. In my case it begins to tear. Little tears at like 3 hours that become problematic at 8 hours for sure. But, 8 hours (3-4 matches) for an overgrip is pretty good.
One of the most sustainable and best overgrips besides the pro overgrip is the Wilson Ultra Wrap Comfort overgrip, it’s honestly really good, better than the yonex Supergrap

Will have to try it -- is it good at sweat absorption and is it as thick as Wilson Pro?

It’s good for sweat absorption, it’s thicker than the supergrap but just a little thinner than Wilson pro, but I guarantee that it won’t tear for at least a few weeks

Same as OP. I don't know why people like tournagrip. That stuff is terrible. Ordered it used 2 of the rolls and threw the rest away.

I need something as I have to change out racquets because grip gets sweaty and slippery, welcome to 80+ degrees and 80% humdity. I'm good with 8hrs of play(about all I get on a poly anyway) so will have to try Supergrap a try.

Typically use gamma supreme but trying a lot of different ones now. It gets too slippery if hot out and not brand new wrap. Might just need to get that wilson lotion. I've never seen that.

Solinco heaven grip. Slightly better than tourna and definitely better for anyone with sweaty hands or in humid/hot conditions.

You're welcome.

No, please don’t try supergrap, it feels good but rips in like 2 hours of play, use the babolat tennis grips, they are really good too

I feel like a pull-string doll.

Wear a wristband and buy a rosin bag. There’s nothing better. You’ll change your grips once a year afterward.

Probably a stupid question but I've never used either. The only reason I've had a wristband is to wipe to my forehead or something.

How do I use wristband and rosin bag?

Never heard back from @dak95_00 but used some grip lotion last night and that is the ticket. Way better than any over wrap.

I also read wrist bands stop the sweat from dripping down into your hand. I didn't think this was an issue but will try wearing one and see.

@futurepersonsearchingforthisanwser. Definitely buy some grip lotion forget about picking out overwrap for hot humid summers. Also try wearing a wristband on racquet arm.

Volkl V-Dry for my uber sweaty palms.

With Wilson Pro, the racquet flies out of my grip. How do you play with that?

You wear the wristband. I prefer the Tourna Wrist Towel because it is large and I sweat. The wristband soaks up the sweat that runs down my arm before it get started to my hand.

Rosin is a dry powder that becomes slightly sticky as it gets wet. The sweat that is on my hand becomes an activator for the rosin which I pay on my hands and the grip.

Together they work fantastic!

I've got super sweaty hands, and I've been happily using Tourna Grip for the last 10 or so years. They don't last very long, so for the past few months, I've been on the hunt for a more durable alternative. I've tried Solinco Heaven, Gamma Pro Wrap, and Luxilon Elite Dry. All of them are very absorbent and all of them are more durable than Tourna, but they just didn't quite feel right to me. While Tourna is dry, it's also grippy. Solinco Heaven is textured and absorbent, but something about it just felt off, like it was too smooth. Gamma Pro Wrap felt too cloth-like. Luxilon Elite Dry came the closest to feeling like Tourna, but that was only in the first hour or so. Once it gets soaked, it starts to feel fuzzy.

I just ordered a pack of Volkl V-dry (green), since I've heard so many good things about it. If they don't work out, I'll just go back to using Tourna.

I'm telling you use a wrist band. This cut my sweat down by 95%. I thought wrist bands were for wiping myself down during a game. Nope keeping sweat from dripping into my hand most important thing. I can't play without one now.

I tried super grap after rave reviews but I felt like I lost all sense of the bevels, way too cushioney and not as tacky as Wilson Pro.

Any suggestions for a thin, tacky grip that doesn't completely go to crap when I get sweaty?

I would say this is really user dependent. Most of my sweat comes from my hands, not my forearms. I don't notice a difference whether I use a wrist band or not. I actually only use one to help warm up my wrist joint.

I just tested out some of the Volkl V-Dry (neon green). They feel great, texture is a bit like Tourna. Both sides are tapered too, which is awesome convenient. However, they do have a fatal flaw, and it's that they're not long enough! The grip couldn't cover the entire handle of my standard length Yonex racquet. Looks like I'm back to Tourna XXL.

How much overlap are you doing? I had to cut off a good bit when I was wrapping my RF97.

The most absolute minimum overlap, just enough to make sure the grip doesn't slide and shift apart. I do use a bigger grip size than most, so I guess that could be the reason? Anyway, back to the hunt.

I've heard good things about Dunlop U-Sweat. How do they compare to Tourna?

How about the Pro's Pro Aqua Zorb?

Technifibre Pro Contact has a good blend of tack & durability with decent moisture absorption. It’s not best in class for pure sweat absorption, but it does a better job at wicking moisture than Wilson Pro with a similar tacky feel.

Late reply, but I finally got around to trying the Dunlops I ordered. U-Sweat is fantastic. Extremely good dry grip for sweat management. Doesn't last super long, about 15-20 hours is my guess, but that's good enough for me. It has a pretty consistent grippiness with rapid fall off towards the end.

Pro's Pro aquazorb Premium worked for me during the recent heatwave. Although I wish it was a bit thinner.

Bro, Tourna Grip. Tons of pro's use it for a reason. Tons of pros use it even though they are not Tourna contract players. Tons of pros use it becuase its the best. Does it have drawbacks? sure. But if your question is what is best for sweaty hands, there is only one answer.

people who have sweaty hand problems have told me tourna.
i don't like it, but i have heard this a lot from different players.

Get a Rosin bag or one of those dry grip lotions.
They work really well, I also apply them all around the wrist to keep the sweat dripping from the arm/wristband.

I have a bag of rosin powder, but haven't really put it to the test yet. Do you think it's effective enough to replace the need for an absorbent overgrip, or is it best being used in tandem with one?

I use tourna grip and I live here in Hawai'i so it gets hot and humid all day long so that's my best bet here but otherwise I would love to use Wilson pro which I have before and it really is terrible unless I move to the mainland after college im 13 btw. Also im a big sweater in sunny conditions just for reference.

You’ll need to use it in tandem. Also, the rosin bag can leak if left in your bag for a while. I prefer the liquid sprays for this reason.

Rosin plus standard OG (Wilson Pro/Supergrap) etc .. I don't use tourna as it sheds more than my dog..

edit: What @socallefty said, but you can leave the rosin bag i the plastic pouch it comes in or a ziplock

There are a lot of good absorbent overgrips these days - Kirschbaum UltraTouch, Tecnifibre Pro Contact/Pro Player, Babolat Pro Response and even the VS Original. I also use Wilson Pro/Pro Perf when it is not humid. I’m partial to thinner over grips.

Can't speak to the others, but the Tecnifibre overgrips, while great for non-sweaters, are not absorbent at all. I'm a big palm-sweater, and they became super slick as soon as it got humid.

Yonex dry grap is good and lasts longer than Tourna. I use that and also Wilson progrip max lotion if things get too sweaty.

Tourna grip, tourna wrist towel, tourna grip rx lotion, and your a BHS7T strings is how I roll. Perfect for a hot and humid day.

Hi someone can compare Volkl v-dry, Dunlop u sweat, and solinco heaven?. I want to buy one of these but I don't know what is the best option. I want a grip with good durability, I sweat a lot and I don't have a lot of money to change it a lot, so I want one that can last 2 or 1 1/2 weeks. Also, I´m looking for a good rosin bag and a tacky towel.
