Just watched a video announcing Hyper G Soft and a yet to be named sky blue textured poly. Anyone have any intel on this or know the release date of the former?

HGsoft release date is end of year/beginning of next year. I got a few sets of it back in April/May. To me, the variation between HG and HGsoft is less than TB and TBsoft, but in a good way. I did not like TBsoft as I felt it played completely different to TB. HGsoft played very very similar to HG.

Glad to hear it plays similarly. Any insight on the new string? Thanks much! - KV

It's going to be slightly softer than HG which means it's going to lose tension quicker and become a rocket launcher that sprays balls after about 3 or 4 hours of play. What's the point?

Thanks. Are you referring to H-G Soft or the blue prototype string?

I was hoping for Hyper G in a different color. Love the string but it just looks weird in my all red VCORE.

Ya, that’s a stick that just begs for an all-black setup. Even red strings are tricky bc of its hue (or shade or whatever)... it’s a very distinct red.

I'm still hoping Yonex changes their mind on galaxy black for the 95 but doubt it.

Hyper G soft, would It have more power ? I would think spin potential would be similar ? also I thought regular hyper G was already fairly soft string. it didn't feel harsh like tourbite.

I agree completely... but I’m still intrigued and know I’ll try it. Video also said it was a shinier green which sounds kinda cool.

I got some a while back as well. I played it over the course of about 6 weeks playing 4-6 hours a week all doubles. I liked it much more than HyperG. For whatever reason normal HyperG doesn't agree with my wrist. HyperG soft did. It didn't bag out and get weird like tourbite soft either. I felt it maintained new playability for the first two weeks. Then it was solidly playable for the next 3 weeks. The final week it was fairly boardy and unresponsive.

I'm surprised they've put a real time line on bringing it to market based on the slow slow roll that has been confidential 2.0. Especially considering that when I talked to them about really liking HyperG soft they basically told me not to because it wasn't looking like it was going to be mass produced. There are a couple other interesting additions in the pipeline but who knows what will make it. Over the last 18 months I've play tested like 6-7 different strings for them (some better than others) and none have yet to make it to market or even college distribution.

I always wondered why companies do 'trial releases' since it cannibalizes their own sales. The other issue is formula tinkering as they receive feedback. Blind testing of an unlabelled string vs a labelled is the way to go. And the testers should be your target population, not randomly drawn people.

Any feedback or speculation on how Hyper G soft compares to Yonex PTP?

I got the impression that Hyper G was similar to PTP, but a tad stiffer. With HG Soft, they'd be even closer.

Thanks!

For me, I found Hyper G way more shaped than YPTP and not as slick. I'd put them in completely different categories even if you made Hyper G softer, imo.

are you saying Hyper G isn't coming out for general public ?? did you think power level of hyper G soft was same or higher than hyper G ? in tourbite, tourbite soft seem to have more power for some odd reason.

More power than the regular. I strung it 2lbs tighter.
Yes, similar to tourbite soft. oddly enough, TW gave tourbite higher power rating than tourbite soft in their review. in reality, opposite is true. anyway, do you think they will release hyper G for the masses ? earlier than sloan stevens string ? if they release Sloan's string at all that is.

I spoke with them last night. They told me both strings will be released at or around the same time.

Here is the video:
That blue string looks round ? is it shaped for spin ? I am assuming that isn't the charcoal string that sloan is using. So this means Solinco is coming out with 3 New strings.... WOW.. Hyper G soft, that blue string, and Sloan's string.

No idea never seen it. I'm interested in the hyper g soft.

I bought 18g hyper g, and although a great string, it loses alot of tension quickly and doesnt bite the ball as much as 17g, but 17g was a tad too firm.
I wanted more power from Hyper G

This is great news. I love Hyper-G mains with a Multi cross in my Rev Pro, which is not as stiff as you might imagine but still can be harsh. A soft alternative with comparable playability is something I will be trying

I don't know what was specifically sent to M&C but I have sets of both round and shaped in the teal string.
So will they releasing these 2 strings as well ? this means they will be releasing 5 or 6 different new polys. I really wanted something that played like Hyper G or Tourbite soft but with more power and better control. I really thought the control on tourbite soft could have been better. and Hyper G could had better power.

TW lab and my experience shows hyper G 18 has the more spin than 17 and about the same tension loss. I just play for the tension loss by stringing at a higher tension. It usually loses about 13% after 1-2 hours and settles in the 13-15% range for another 5-6 hours.

No. I think their plan is just two. They're still in the testing and preproduction phase on most of them.

Would look good coming into Xmas though.

Replace your vibration dampener with a bit of tinsel and you’re good to go :)
