To be honest, we don't have much experience with pre-stretching our polys. One of the reasons why we don't experiment with it is since it will change the actual playing experience from what the string was intended to play (not to say that a pre-stretched poly will feel just right for some players).

We know how our strings play at a 52-48 lbs tension very well. This helps us to give pretty accurate string recommendations if we know our customers' playing level, age, preferred string characteristics, etc. Adding another dimension (recommending to pre-stretch a poly), would make recommending a string even more complex and potentially confusing.

Apologies for not being too helpful on the topic!
That's helpful, thank you.

I don't think prestretching polys is a great idea, particularly for one that is designed for good tension maintenance like T1.

Hello T1 sports, I filled out your survey for a free string and never received it. Do you guys ship to P.O. boxes? I want to say that is why I did not get it

Almost all string sets and reels are on sale. All poly reels are currently at $99 and most poly sets are at $6.95 or cheaper. If you are looking for the 50% discount check out the Strike Force RIP sets.

Thanks. It's just hard to tell what is on sale if the price changes without showing the original price crossed out.

I hear you. We are not doing this on purpose. This is just how our website displays it. If you go to the detail page of a string and select your preferred string color and gauge you should see the original price crossed out. Hope that helps!

No problem! Not assigning moral blame! Just giving feedback. Love Tour Status.

I've got almost all T1 strings headed my way. Going to pair gut with RIP first.
Probably do status with syngut next.
Strike force RIP is nice with a slick multi cross. I did diadem multi in the cross and it was nice. Just don’t expect the sting bed to look straight and DONT do a full bed of RIP

Strung one of my TC95 18x20s with a hybrid of Black Knight 18 mains/Polyfibre Hightec 18 crosses. The Black Knight reminded me of black Cyclone while stringing. The polyfibre was unlike an poly I've ever strung. Felt like a firm multi or synthetic with an odd coating. Will be playing doubles with this setup tonight.

TW poster 'topspn' gave me the BK when he sold me my pair of TC95s, and I've finally gotten around to trying it. I expect it to be a firmer poly than I like, but these 'weird' polyfibre crosses will mitigate some of that, I have no doubt.

More interested in Ghost Wire as a full bed. I like it a lot in the crosses in a poly/poly hybrid and suspect that full bed would be great. Maybe even gut/Ghost Wire hybrid?

I haven't tried GW with NG yet but have used it as a cross with Gamma Professional as well as Diadem Impulse for a couple doubles matches. nice snap back

I also picked up a pack of the tier 1 triumph multi and that feels really smooth in the hand. Not sure if it stays that way.

The strike force is interesting since it is quite bendy and wants to stay bent. Also had alot of stretch to it on the stringer compared to most copolys.

I had full bed RIP 16g in my Blade CV 18x20 a while back. IIRC, it was nice. So so so plush, great pocketing, and if you torqued the ball, massive spin.

What's your experience with it?

Firewire and Black Knight are also stretchy polys.

Just played 2 sets of dubs with klip legend and RIP @ 55. RIP is such a nice neutral cross that keeps the gut feel, tames the power and accentuates spin. Have used ghostwire as a cross before and that's a good option but not quite as plush feeling.

Will up the tension next time as I think RIP may actually like higher tensions.

Also ended doing a triumph/Bknight combo that has early promise. Update: after 2 sets of singles not liking triumph/BK. The T is "creaky" and sticky. The BK just mutes the stringbed too much for my liking. Legend/RIP performed better.

I've been using Tour Status 17g for a couple years now at least. It has always played beautifully in my Prince TT 95 (2015). Great string!

Honestly, @TierOneSportsOfficial is a great company. The once sent me the wrong reel and within 2 days (across country) I was able to get the correct one (sending the wrong one back to them as well). Great service :)

Alright found a great combo of triumph multi in the mains and ghostwire cross 57/56 just felt so perfect! Did everything well for the set of dubs I used it in.

Honestly found more control and feel with this setup than gut/gw or gut/rip.

Yep - I loved this exact same combo in my O3 Prince TT310 - didn't last long though unfortunately. Might try it again in my Pro Kennex Q Tours once I'm done testing Velocity/GW and Rip Control/GW

Torn between BK and FireBoost. Im thinking FireBoost is a little more power vs BK will have more spin/control?

FireBoost has more spin, power, and feel for a "lower level player" who may not be able to constantly generate huge racquet head speed.
Black Knight is a jack of all trades. Good at everything, and has a "performance" max-limit where it performs the same regardless how fast you crush the ball.
I would recommend both, but FireBoost first.

So if I'm 3.5-4.0, try FireBoost first?

Thanks!

Agree with @jangotango, BK offers a more predictable response whereas Firewire Boost gives more easily accessible spin and power. I’m a 4.5 and think I prefer BK just barely. I thing the average player at 3.5/4.0 will likely prefer FB. Of course every player is different, so you could easily prefer BK. I would try both, but I recommend trying FB first.

Have you guys tried the Tour Status for the spin/power? Maybe it was just in my Prince but it really got a ton of spin with solid power

In an 18x20 98in frame, you think 48x46 is good for FireBoost? Or go lower like 46/44?

I think both RIP's texture and slick surface really do accentuates spin potential with just about any string. Yes, for me in hybrid set up, RIP does play well at higher tensions 65# and over as a main. I've played with it as high as 75# in the mains and 65# when strung as a cross. For about six months my favorite setup was Firewire mains 17g at 70# and RIP crosses at 64# in a heavy Babolat PCT. I have several players, who I string this for at much lower tensions, love the FW/Rip combo.

I tried GW as a full bed and for me it was underwhelming. Really didn't feel like the strings could 'grip' the ball. New balls tended to slide across the string bed. Tried it at two different tensions. It might be a difference experience if one hits with a flatter ball. Volleys were not that crisp either. For me GW is an awesome cross string and pretty average when used as a main IMHO.

The consensus seems to be that Ghost Wire is a great cross with any type of main. I still wonder if it would be just crisp enough to complement a gut main. Only one way to find out.

Like RIP moreso than GW with natgut for exactly that reason: the silver/grey ink gives a touch more crispness to the stringbed.

I really, really like RIP as a cross, too, because, like GW, of it super slick coating. I've got a stick with Octo Twist (green) in the mains and GW crosses. This stealthy set up plays like butter. Ball contact is considerably quiet but the ball pops off the strings with decent pace and really crisp on volleys.

firewire is going to eat up multifeel
I kind of had a feeling that’s going to be the case. It was an instance of needing two racquets strung and these were the only strings I had so I’m giving it a try. Going to order from T1 while the sale is on

gotcha.

I'd say if you wanted to hybrid try a synthetic gut with a very hard coating...but given what you have I can see your situation.

Yep, and I suppose it’s worth noting a friend at work does my stringing and doesn’t actually stock strings it is truly “I string what you bring”. This is my demo FireWire so I’m excited to try it though! Even if it eats the multifeel in a few hours

understood...
I'd just do a full bed of firewire to benefit fr that string. it's actually pretty good but i often put a smooth poly in the cross instead of a full bed.

Just strung a firewire/RIP combo. Will see how that plays compared to fullbed or boost.

So early results were good, more control than fb FW and better feel than boost.
