Fed is a mentor of sorts to Zverev. He'll be fine. Basel will give him a boost and his weeks record looks safe for now. Tsitsipas gave him an early Christmas present. It's not all bad.

You're underestimating how fast a player's decline can be. Look at Berdych and Tsonga as recent examples, Gasquet too; they're way younger than Fedr

For the next, ooooooh...40 years or so maybe.
Teasing aside, that second set was epic, but overall just enough or that...just enough to win he used to always seem to be able to dip into. The pendullum has swung a bit. We will see how he feels mentally by year end.

Federer should call it a career now. At least he could claim that no one broke his slam or weeks at #1 records whilst he was still active. If both those records go when he is still playing, what would he have left? Fans' favourite and perennial winner of the sportsmanship award.

You forget a minor detail, the guy is 38 years old, buddy.
Nothing but an accelerated decline awaits him. Do you think someone who has been called the GOAT for most of his career will still hang around after he’s no longer competitive in slams or even BO3? His ego and legacy will not allow him to.

It eventually happens to everyone. Federer's movement is noticeably garbage compared to even a couple years ago. Only thing he's got is serve.

Yes I know that it happens to everyone but I don´t see Federer in two years declining from number 3 and a real contender at every tournament, to a nobody that can win barely a round
