Reasons for Medvedev's success

Other than his improved mentality his forehand is so much better compared to 2018. I've seen some highlights of Chung vs Medvedev and the difference is striking. The depth of his shots is also better, he used to hit a lot of short balls. What's your take on his ultron mode?

His biggest problem in the past used to be his stamina. Just this year in AO he looked gassed in the end of his match against Djokovic. It's actually pretty interesting how did he manage to improve it so much in such a short time. Right now he just plays everything and doesn't get tired at all.

Don't be coy.lol!

You are obviously making doping insinuations, and it's not unreasonable to do so with Medvedev considering how flagarant the Russian Sports Federations have been about doping their athletes. Russia is actually in danger of being banned from international sporting competitions again (Like Olympics and World Cup) because they are still getting caught doping their athletes. It's state sponsored.

Would Russia go to those lengths to produce a dominant tennis player? Absolutely.

I hope Medvedev is clean, but by association with his country, suspicion about his incredible stamina levels this year is reasonable.

Oxygen vector doping.

Russia would totally go so far cause when they get banned they get reinstated for no real reason later.

Lol, no. My comment wasn't supposed to hint about doping.

Also Russia have form for doping on the female side of the game with Maria Sharapova. She was getting that Meldonium from Russian sources, and was basically an energiser bunny on that stuff.

Now she is off it, she's a fairly average player.

Lol!

Fair enough. Talking about sudden and mysterious increase in stamina kind of made that the most obvious conclusion to draw.
Well, there are much stranger things. For example what should we think about the big 3 who keep playing long matches and winning at their age? And that's after all of them had periods when it looked like they are done. Maybe they just work on it. To be honest, I really hope that tennis is a clean sport.

Oh, don't get it twisted. I think the Big 3 are all suspect as well at this point. We all want to believe they are just that great, but maybe they are getting extra help.

But Nadal has been an insanely conditioned athlete since his teens. I think genetics is on his side (Like his Uncle Miguel, a tireless defender for Barcelona). For all the speculation around him over the years, I think of all big 3, he was God gifted with incredible stamina.

Still, all the Big 3 do show signs of getting tired these days and needing more breaks, which is something. And they have enough money to afford the best legal recovery techniques. Djokovic actually takes his "Egg Chamber" with him to major tournaments to aid in recovery. It's legal, but most players will bankrupt themselves if they tried to transport a device like that to help them in tournaments.

Federer's stamina at his advanced age is pretty questionable, but like I said...we all want to believe.

I find it completely bemusing how he is doing so well. Horrible technique, average serve and never seems to do anything spectacular. Is this another example of weak field?

He is very tall AND moves incredibly well. He and Zverev who is at the same height has begun a new era.
