Multiple, but I can promise you that that WTF will be a carnage. No one will come out of it unscathed. Both Nadal and Djoke will post losses in the group stages and that would favour the Nadal (if he turns up, of course, but I think that he will). The group draws will be crucial. Imagine Feddie boy and Imhotep in one group with everything on the line from the get go!

Shame. Not optimistic for London now and I imagine Djokovic will be the top guy at the end of the year.
But even if he doesn't play it, what a year it was. Yet another Roland Garros, and a US Open won after that epic final.

I am not getting ahead of myself this time. I remember too well what happened in the final last year. Lol. Now I know you didn't believe this when Mad Lad clawed his way back in the USO final. Mad Lad and Tsits have come on strong this year for parts of it and I think will be tough next year too. Shapovalov does have weapons but he can be erratic. He's struggled with that but just won his 1st title. Djokovic is the favorite but I'm not banking on anything before it happens.

Djokovic is still looking strong and has fewer miles than Nadal. There’s no young players that appear to be all time greats with special talent. Djokovic can continue to win with his robotic consistency game. His serve is also winning him free points.

If there is any positive to take, better that a shocking piece of luck like this happens in junk time of the season.
Hopefully this gives him the impetus to nix WTF and concentrate on preparing for AO2020.

I don't like the match-up given their Australian Open encounter earlier this year, but if we look at stats from Paris and Stockholm that capture his vein of form....55.5% points won in Paris with 44.4% on return. Stockholm was 57.8% points won with 43.8% return points won, plus a peak Roddick like 74.6% on serve points. I'll be surprised if you don't find his level extremely pleasing, but not sure he matches up well with Djoko. Shapo is definitely in Mad Lad territory entering this match so anything could happen.

Even grabbing a set would be huge for me. Shapo just plays to error prone, but if he is locked on and Djoker is not playing his best defense, I could see it happening. Sounds like he got what he wanted from the tourney though, confidence without losing and playing good tennis. Could play to his advantage rather than losing to Djoker.

It will be the same situation as Tsitsipas faced. Shapovalov requires the same huge setup time for his long swings as Tsitsi needs. Djokovic will just half volley everything, and be on constant attack hitting with depth, robbing Shapovalov of time to setup.
Shapovalov has a beautiful game but his shots require a lot of setup time, and he is mince meat against these great improvisers who can take the ball early and force a quick tempo.
As a Canadian tennis fan you can't be too unhappy with the way things are shaping up over the next 10 years with Andreescu, Rao, Shapo, Bouchard and FAA!

Why not? He won last 4 of the 6 slams. The 2 he missed were one loss in 5th set because of bad weather. The second with injury and Stanimal in the UsOpen.
He has 4-5 years of prime tennis left. Who will challenge him except Medvedev? Nadal's body is breaking and I won't be surprised if Nadal retires before Fed. Fed meanwhile can NEVER beat Novak at slams.
So conservatively: 5 years: 2 slams each year: Total slams: 26
5 years: 2 slams each year plus 1-2, three slams years: Total 28.
So 24-28 slams are within reach for Djokovic.

Andreescu? Awesome. Raonic and Bouchard? Big letdown from what we thought was coming. FAA and Shapo? We shall see, but fun and exciting for now, but we have been tricked before.

Barring injury, there's no way Djokovic is losing this imo. His level is frightening at the moment.
Shapovalov is an impressive player but a guy like Djokovic is looking at Shapovalov's stroke production and the amount of preparation time he needs on each shot.
Novak will be strategizing to blitz him in rallies and take away the time he needs on each ball.
Shapovalov is left with only two options: Redline out of his comfort zone and risk overhitting or try and play a defensive game against a guy with better stroke mechanics.
Will still be a great match to watch, and the impression that I get is that Shapovalov acquiring Youzhny has been one of the best coaching changes of the year. Youzhny has some of the best tennis acumen in the game, and is a good, serious guy in the mould of Ljubicic. He will also help Shapovalov learn to shorten his strokes and develop more improvisation in his game.

Lol no it isn't. He looks more human than I've ever seen him. He has more mental fortitude than these mugs in tight moments and that makes the difference. You can see the cuts starting to show.

The Tsitsipas match was the one that did it for me. Djokovic in full battering ram mode, half volleying groundstrokes and hitting with depth and precision.
There is definitely some distraction showing in his game every now and then, but he can flick the switch at a moments notice and play like a maniac.
Would've been great to see another Djokodal final if Rafa hadn't had the abdominal strain. He is the only person equipped to match up against Novak on HC when Novak is in this type of form imo.

Djokovic should win this one but he was a heavy favorite last year as well. I just will wait to see what happens I guess but he does seem to have Shapo's game figured out. Shapo has weapons but he can go into ballbash mode and spray errors all over the place. I totally agree that Youzhny was a wise choice and I am already seeing improvements in his game. It's not a coincidence that he just won his first title with him as his coach.

Sorry but Nole will wear Shapo down with his boring style, winning by an equally boring scoreline (6-4, 6-3).
Hope I'm proven wrong though. I'd love to see Shapo win a 1000.

Well, got to give it to them Djoker fans, they reach high. If this does happen though, that would mean this is the downfall of tennis. If Djoker can win 12 slams after the age of 32... there is a problem with tennis.
I will be tricked into watching cause he is Canadian, but we all know what will happen. But if Shapo redlines it, maybe. But like @Shaolin said, he is likely to get beat by a defensive and boring Djoker who waits for errors.Lol true. Im def not watching, my time is too precious

Now Nadal skips a few hc matches for good reasons (unless they can prove him guilty), they have the audacity to question his motives? If Nadal is really purposefully doing it and we talk about mileage, hasn't Nadal been around for long enough to deserve it too?
The point I'm making is simple and not directed against anyone: people are self-serving, and so are Fed and Nadal? Why act surprised and cry wolf using double standards?
