On the 10th anniversary of Nikolay Davydenko's run to become the 1st and, so far, only Russian to win the WTF (at the inaugural edition held at the O2 in London), Daniil Medvedev, on his debut appearance at this event, hopes to emulate that feat by becoming the 2nd Russian to do so:

And replicate he shall.

Fred and Noel have also expressed interest in emulating their 03, 04, 06, 07, 08, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 runs
It’s a curse on any London non-Fedovic champion: the last three champions have combined for two ATP250 and one ATP500 titles since their London successes; Davydenko won only two ATP250 titles. Four guys with 5 titles after usurping the O2 throne!

Only Nalbandian did OK after winning TMC’05 in Shanghai, winning 7 times (2 M1Ks) after edging fedr in 5.

WTF 2009 was one of the best editions. Every candidate played well and deserved to be there, except Nadal.

Even Verdasco proved hos worth even if he didn't win a match. He at least didn't bend over.

That is the reason Fed is far and away better at YEC at this point. Djokovic can join him if he does well here.

No, he can’t. Equaling a predecessor is just riding on their coattails. Djokovic needs at least four more titles before he joins Federer’s level at this particular event.

Would be a great deal for him if he manages to replicate Kolya's achievement. It's a pity his game isn't as entertaining. :p
