Not everyone is rogerWawrinka turns 35 in March. If he has a good enough year in 2020 to suggest he might win a slam in 2021 he might keep playing. If he's just making up the numbers he'll probably retire. Knowing that next year might well be his last is likely motivation for him to give it everything.
Why? They are both still contending and winning at majorsRafa only goes another half year 2021 and Fed is done as well.
Fed didn't win a major in 19 and won't win one in 20. Once his conners competition is done no point in playing. Why? They are both still contending and winning at majors

Yet both lost their last match vs the old manBoth winning majors? lol
The big 2 have won the last 7

Nadal wouldn't have YE#1 if it wasn't for Fed. Djokovic would have went on to clinch it if Fed hadn't stopped him. That's fine by me. It's not like he's ever going to catch Fed in weeks since he's two years behind lol.Deal - you can have the Wimbledon semi and I'll have two slam wins (including another straight sets beatdown of Fed at RG) and YE # 1.
well if it does happen... what a great career he's had so thanks for the cool memories!
The next Olympics is in 2020. I think that is why both Fed and Stan are hanging in there. It wouldnt be a surprise to see both retire when the next year is over.
Untestable, therefore unacceptable.Nadal wouldn't have YE#1 if it wasn't for Fed. Djokovic would have went on to clinch it if Fed hadn't stopped him.
That's what I think too, more of a here we go again feel than this is the last one.I doubt this tweet has any retirement context.
Yeah he came back from injury early last year. He's now 16th in the world. He's not that likely to break the top 10 again, nevermind contend for Slams. Not everyone is roger
Wawrinka is a French speaking Swiss, so Geneva would be the likely pick.I wonder at which tournament he will call it quits: Basel? Geneva?
He sure as hell reached finals and semis in 2019 majors...in what universe do you see this as an indication there is "no point in playing"?Fed didn't win a major in 19 and won't win one in 20. Once his conners competition is done no point in playing.
It's always the same when Djokovic loses. He wasn't at his best. Blablabla. He beat Berr 6-2 6-1 in an hour. It took an absolutely redlining Thiem to barely edge him in the 2nd RR. Federer took the racket out of his hands for much of the 3rd match with a sublime serving performance. If Djokovic had beaten Federer, he was the favorite for the tournament. Hell, he was the favorite throughout until the moment he lost to Federer. He'll be the favorite at the next effing tournament lol. Tsitsipas would still have the memories of the Paris beat down fresh in his mind going into that match and Djokovic isn't losing to Thiem twice in a row on indoor HC.Djokovic was pretty mediocre at this WTF. I say he goes out in the semis anyway. Especialy since wouldn't he have still played Tsitsipas? I definitely feel he loses to him the way both were playing this event.
Certainly looks like a hint, and that groundwork is being laid.
Although obviously you could see him changing his mind if he does really well.
That's apparently what he indicated on his Twitter - that he's taking it 1 season at a time, not saying it's his last season for sure.
Tsitsipas and even Thiem are overtaking him, and there is alot of pride in tennis for these legendary players. He sure as hell reached finals and semis in 2019 majors...in what universe do you see this as an indication there is "no point in playing"?
But he still loves the game...I would give my right arm (I'm left handed with a obh, so theoretically I could still play ) to be able to do that for a living. Hell, he and Muzza should start playing dubs together until 45 or so...Tsitsipas and even Thiem are overtaking him, and there is alot of pride in tennis for these legendary players.
Also, from a financial perspective, his brand is way more valuable if he doesn't have the "broke down journeyman" phase.
He's kind of peaked in his comeback and wants to go out in some style like Ferrer rather than a Bendych style crash and burn.
Untestable, therefore unacceptable.
Sharapova is the real bae, mate...Another bae to miss
