I have no reference regarding head size. I am ok with either 95 or 100. I am trying to figure out which one from the Angell weight balance (310/315 9 points, 320/310 10 points.....etc) coming out closer to 324 SW and 6 points head light after strung. I believe the weight balance on the Angell web site are before string. I am very bad at this.

Just a quick thought without working the numbers, but the 320g/310mm will put you up near 340+ with stringing/grip. If it was a choice between those two specs I'd go with the 310g/315mm. You could add lead if needed to change the balance.

I checked the site too, and it seems that the 310/315 would probably be the best option.

Maybe some other of the Angell gurus could weigh in as well :)

Hi guys,

I decided to upgrade from the V2 to V3 TC95 70RA 16x19 but found they play much softer/plusher than the previous model, maybe due to the new micro-braided layup? To many this would be a benefit but unfortunately I cannot get used to it, they still have a uniform flex but to me they feel like 63-64 RA strung.
Anyway, I am selling them for less than half price. I can also order different pallets for a small fee. DM me if you’re interested.

Ordered a TC97 18x20 330g 305mm. Came this morning and having it strung with hyper g at 48. Can’t wait to hit with it. Anyone have any string recommendations to try after?

Nice! Oddly enough after seeing all the love BH SIlver Tour gets on here, I tried it and hated it (even more surprising since I was a long time Tour Bite user). Only thing I'm concerned about string wise w/ the ASL is that I've been playing 17g for awhile but that was in 16x19 patterns that had 8 mains in the middle. The last time I used a 16x19 w/ 6 mains in the middle, I had to go to 16 or 16L bc I broke 17g every 3-4 hours. I'm curious to see how the Angell prototypes play and I need to see if Paul has more info he can give me since they came completely unmarked. Right now the blue Solinco 3.0 string has been far and away my favorite string.
Looks like your blue Angell string along with 3 other new strings are now available online. The 7 and 4-sided shaped polys could be worth a try....

Saw that! I’ll have to string up the other set of Touch. Wish I would have gotten the shaped ones to test since that’s usually what I use.

Strings definitely wear faster in this pattern than my previous 16x19 with 8 mains. I hit with my 17g Confidential 2.0 yesterday and it was already toast. Probably going to have to go to a thicker gauge.

Angell TC lines static weight and balance are adjusted by weight in the pallets. Hairpins are the same for all configurations in same line. So regardless of configuration, as long as the racquet is standard length (27 inches) they will have same swingweight.

For example, the 300g and 310g TC97 with 9pt HL and 6pt HL balance will have the same swingweight, just different weights in handle which determine their balance. Weight placement in handle has minimal affect on swingweight. Balance is what will make it more or less maneuverable.

Best thing I can recommend is that you shoot Paul a message. Angell team is fantastic in replying on FB quickly. You can directly ask Paul about your desired end specs and he can guide you better on what line to choose with what specs. His entire business is customization and he knows all this stuff very well. But yeah, general rule of thumb is swingweight remains same regardless of static weight. You can offcourse add lead to increase swingweight later on if you choose a lighter spec.

Picked up a matched pair of Angell TC97 16x19’s with strung specs of 349/31.5/335. Strung them up with Head Gravity hybrid at 63# and wow! Just wow!!!! [emoji2956] I’d forgotten just how good these frames really are in just about every aspect of the game. I’m back, Angellites!! [emoji56]

I want to try the TC97... please help

I bought a TC95 love it, just got a TC100 love it differently ... both are 16x19 and 63ra

I’ve read everything about the 95, 97 and 100 but it doesn’t make sense to me why everyone says the TC97 plays/feels different then the 95 and 100.

Does it really ? Or is it just a personal preference and throw in so many different stringing preferences.., is it not just something in between the 95 and 100??!

Or do I try the K7 red ??? I know it’s made differently

Trying to settle on an one .... so I can buy 2 more ..

The beam shape, stiffness, and flex profile of the TC95 and TC97 are totally different, therefore, they play very differently from one another. The TC95 and TC100 both have the D-Beam shape and flex uniformly from the throat onwards. The TC97 has a stiff throat and flexes in the head. Furthermore, the TC97 has a strung RA of 63 (unstrung is 66RA), whilst the TC95 is 63RA unstrung which is 60RA or lower strung. The TC95 also comes in a 70RA Unstrung version (which I haven't tried so can't compare).

I find the TC95 63RA (I have both string patterns) to play much softer, it feels much better in hand (personal preference), and I like how it flexes better. I have both the TC95 and TC97 (in both string patterns) and I can play with both, both are great racquets, but if I had to choose just one of them, I would choose the TC95 63RA 18x20 (for the moment).

I tried the K7 Red but didn't gel with it and found the TC line racquets to play better. I have not tried the K7 Lime so I can't comment on that one, but I have not tried it as the K7 Red experience wasn't as positive for me as the TC Line.

Hope that helps.

Well said. The TC95 is just too powerful for me. This, in tandem with the higher launch angle it possesses, curbed my enthusiasm for playing the all court attacking style that serves me best.

I hear you... that's why I'm looking to find the right thicker gauge string to control both the launch angle and power of the TC95 16x19 and why I prefer the 18x20 at the moment. Greater control and lower launch angle.

The TC95 18x20 63RA is also my favourite Angell though I play with the Wilson Ultra Tour at the moment. The UT has just a little bigger headsize but feels very similar to the TC95. No wonder as they both have a graphite/foam construction.

I have/ play regularly with TC97, TC 100 same specs (16x19) and K7 Red. TC97 is my favorite. It definitely plays different from TC100 - more control, a bit less spin, better on volleys. TC100 noticeably more clumsy for me due to higher swing weight ‍♀ Although I like the spin and serves.
K7 Red completely different feel, it’s easy to play with, but I cannot play aggressive game with it, and for some weird reason it bugs my elbow more than TC series.
hope it helps :)

I have both the TC95 and the UT but I haven't played them side-by-side with identical strings and tension. Will probably do that at some point.

Thank you for the reply. Wondering if the TC100 with 18x20 would settle down the launch angle enough to make it worth a try. I haven’t read anything about TC100 18x20....

Hi, what are your conclusions after these approx. 10 hours? What did you dislike? Are they 16x19 or 18x20

18x20.

They are very good sticks and high quality built. But you need to have good technique because sweet spot is not big... Better to hit in the Center of the frame. But control and power are very good.

Today I prefer the Blade V7. That's why I sell them

I see, thanks. I understand, have the 18x20 V3 myself. Agree, it is wonderful but (for me) rather demanding. Was wondering on how the open pattern would perform, as well vs. the TC100 (that is my go-to) and the tc95 16x19. But might read through the thread with a glass (bottle?) of wine at one moment to find input on that comparison. :)

I kind of want to pickup a TC97 just for fun. Had a 95 and it just wasn't for me, and I love my TC100. Maybe it's like one of those "gotta collect em all" Pokemon type additions haha :-D

yes. currently with PSGD and will try a textured poly. not sure about this racquet at this time...

tied up your TC95 with YPTP and 43# and it was really nice

That's awesome about the 95! It definitely needs low tension. My friend who loves the Clash added a lot of weight to the handle to make it "whippier" as he put it. I wouldn't mind picking one up to mess with it, but the 100/100T didn't seem to have as much spin as people talked about imo

question - anyone "lucky enough" to have tried the new Halo Comfort sting?
is it as soft as the website says?

yes I’ve played it. It’s quite comfortable. Good power and feel at the net. Not as much grip as a shaped poly but spin was good for a round string. It’d make a good slick cross for a hybrid. Flexed well on contract and has a cushioned response without feeling mushy. I liked it a lot more than the new Touch string.

Can any Angell enthusiasts possibly compare this: CUSTOM V3 TC95 – 18 X 20 to a Babolat Pure Storm LTD+ GT 95 or a Pure Control Plus 95? Why? I have a trio of those Babolats in 27.5 that I really really like and when I look at what is currently available that compares to these the Angell 95 18x20 seems to be about the only option.

I've been using Angell rackets since about 2017, I'm just late to this thread I guess. Anyhoo, my long-time racket configuration has been the TC100 16x19, 70RA, 320g, 10ptsHL (310mm), absolutely lovely rackets. I did just order a V3 custom that's 310g and 315mm (9ptsHL) just to try it, since I've been curious about how a slightly lighter version would be like in a direct 1-1 comparison. I string them with one of two Weiss Cannon poly strings, or more regularly, the RS Lyon poly at around 45lbs +- 2lbs.

I could not ask for better rackets, they have everything: Spin, power, control, and feel that tops everything I've tried before or since. I have absolute confidence in the racket when it comes to any and every shot, and I think it's rather comforting to know when things feel off or I missed a shot that it's me, not the racket.

And an underrated aspect of Angell rackets, in my opinion, is that since they are extremely consistent across years and updates, opting for them takes you out of the endless cycle of the main brands, wherein you love a racket, and then within a year or two it's being phased out, or it's been "updated" and the update is markedly different, and then you end up either trying to hunt down frames while they're still in circulation, or start the racket-trying process over again. I went through lots of rackets that I tried, liked, got, then got grass-is-greener syndrome and started testing different rackets once more. Since switching to the Angell frames, I've never felt the urge to try other rackets, even when working at tennis shops where I had to sell all of the usual suspects or string every racket under the sun.

*Edited and expanded the last paragraph a bit to be a little more detailed.

I have it but 310g and 7HL instead of 9HL and personally much prefer the balance that way. Strung and with OG, comes in around 5.5-6HL

I agree about the TC100. I got 310g/315mm used on purpose to build up the grip and add weight as needed. I'm stringing mine at 47/44 and seems to be perfect currently.

Even with it currently at 348g, with about the same swingweight, it doesn't feel the heavy at all compared to other racquets of similar static/sw.

I've tried others for fun but nothing in a 100 head size can compare.

hey @topspn I can see on your signature that you are back on the Angell frames, and now from TC95 to TC100. I have also put my TC95 on hold and play with TC100 now, I kind of rediscovered my TC100 when I started to play FB poly, suddenly I could control the frame, and I really love the frame, now also on 3 frames TC100 v3 63RA.

Would you like to share your journey back to Angell, also what string and tension you prefer for the TC100.

I am testing some different string setup, right now I really like Cyber Flash 17L at 20kg (44lb)

cheers, Toby
