Fan biases aside, what does the inner tennis analyst inside you expect of the result Roger Federer is most likely to have when the 2020 AO, the 1st slam of the decade concludes?
(Last year's AO :- Federer faced an early R16 exit against stefanos tsitsipas, 7-6 6-7 5-7 6-7 loss)

SF or F depends on whether he is opposite or in the same side of the draw with Djokovic.

Good chances of winning if someone upsets Djokovic

Voted SF loss.
His form last year not as good as 2017 to early 18 were he bagged his 5th and 6th titles at AO. Djokovic is the favourite.

A wise forum member (@TennisFan3) once said "it is the law of the universe that the youngs end up eating or surpassing the olds". Following the aforementioned natural law, Federer has no chance to win the AO.

If Federer were to win the AO 2020, it would be fair to recognize his divine nature. His powers would refute the laws of nature, as no human has ever won a Grand Slam at the age of thirty-eight.

Was a bad loss and sure didn’t help after the not the worst IMO unless the effects remain that long. I think he bounces back. He done it after so many losses.
He has already showed the signs of bouncing back by that incredible fight against zverev and win against novak. He needs rest and set his mind to be a bit more clutch..
That said, anything more than a SF will genuinely surprise me...

I voted SF as well. Doesn’t show in the poll though because I think you didn’t select the option for it to show.

I said I was a Nadal fan, I didn't say I was a sadist! Or are they one and the same

Nadal thinks so...

None of his other losses compare to this one though.
This one was one he was better player aside from breakers and lost the match so maybe. But loses like USO 11/15 with all those chances damm stink. Then all those losses to Rafa years ago....

Truth hurts man lol. Got nothing against Ferrer but when mugs say Hewitt was only slightly better than him it triggers me, what can I say.
Ferrer nearly took a prime MuryGoat 5 sets in Wimbledon 2012 . I have to pick Ferrer over Hewitt peak for peak.

If he runs into Tsitsipas or Thiem or even Zverev, I expect him to lose.

If he runs into Nadal, he has to win.

If he runs into Novak, I have high expectations of him.

I think a healthy Federer should be good to enough to at least reach the QF. Depending on how the draw plays out he could go deeper or even win it again. I always say I'll never write him off from any tournaments just because of what's he's accomplished and who he is and I still stand by that. However, I think 2019 showed us that Federer's main competition on hard court isn't limited to Djokovic anymore. Players like Tsitsipas & Thiem have beaten Federer on that surface, both indoor & outdoor. Even if Nadal hasn't beaten Federer on hard court since 2014, given his recent results, he could trouble Federer as well. So you already have 4 players that could potentially take him out in the 2nd week. Stranger things have happened, but Federer better be in great form and shape if he was to square off against 2 of these 4 players and win it all in the 2nd week.

Past prime Hewitt took a set off peak Novak at AO 2012, while Ferrer lost in comfortable straight sets. I have to pick Hewitt over Ferrwr peak for peak.

Djokovic at AO12 wasn’t as good as MuryGoat in Wimbledon 12. I am going with my gut and choosing Ferrer. Lesser Murray was not far away from beating him in AO12.

Incredible what he’s doing at this age! A loss to Grigor Dimitrov was especially incredible. Pleez moar. (y)

Rusty Hewitt with one foot nearly beat the BOAT Djokovic at the Olympics e.g. the biggest most important sportinf event on the planet.

No comparison.

Djokovic isn’t the BOAT because Nadal/Federer and MuryGoat are in this era too.
Djokovic was no where near as good as Murray on grass in 2012 so that has to favour Ferrer.

Djokovic has a Wimbledon title already, Murray was still searching. And that's more than balanced out by Hewitt playing with one foot and just half a hip.
