When do you expect USTA ratings to come out?

Lots of bumps up in San Diego.

Just got bumped to 4.5 as did two team mates. The good thing is that the bumps matched my estimation of the stronger players on the team.

The rest of the team is scrambling to try to get a new captain while I'm now a free agent.

I was a borderline 4.5 at the start of the season, TR had me at 3.9815 at the end of this season (only played 3 matches, went 1-2), but I stayed in 4.5.

Last year I self-rated as 4.5, went 0-7 and somehow stayed as a 4.5 so I'm on borrowed time, haha

In our area of New England there was a lot of movement from 4.0 to 4.5 in both men and women. There seemed to be very little from 3.5 to 4.0. I only found 1 guy in our whole 3.5 flight (self-rated) who got bumped, plus a couple other previous 3.5 bump-downs that continued to play 4.0 anyway. I saw a few 3.0 to 3.5. I didn’t notice any bump-downs among the players I checked.

Hm, a number of bump ups from my 3.0 team. A couple bump downs from my 3.5 team.
I won all my 3.0 matches and most of my 3.5 matches and stay 3.0. I guess another year on two teams. :p

Seriously, including me I think 8 guys on my team got bumped up to 4.5...and I'm currently on a 2 match skid.

8 guys? Do you have a team left? I had 6 guys bumped a few years ago and it almost destroyed the team. It was particularly bad since we do early-start leagues in our area, so we were already in the middle of the season when the bumps happened.

On my 18+ team we had 7 guys get bumped up. What's funny is we have no chance to win the league. The two teams that usually win and go to State each had about 80% get bumped. I'll have to wait and see after all the appeals are in who is left standing.

Wow, I've never seen this many bump ups (Georgia/Atlanta). I was bumped to 4.5 but was able to appeal back down to 4.0.
My guess is that there will be a lot of appeals back down that will be granted. Did you just go thru the automated appeal process?

Yeah, we had a huge team, added a few players this season, and I know at least one guy was able to auto appeal down. It does make it tougher for districts though, since the guys that got bumped are the guys that are generally available and travel for post-season.

I think it'll be the opposite. My guess is they adjusted the entire southern section as a whole in some way. So anyone close to a bump before adjustment, won't be in the appeal range afterwards.

In my area even the guys we're shocked got bumped have had their appeals declined.

I didn't get bumped despite being at least 3.98 on the @schmke TT 4.0 team. There were a TON of bumps from 4.0 to 4.5, though. I lost 5 guys from my team (second place). The first place team (& district playoff winner) lost 11 players (!), as did the section-winning team.

I was only 14-13 for the year, so it would have been a surprising year for me to get bumped.

And Tennislink just crashed 29 seconds after USTA sent out the email stating ratings are published...... Glad I peeped mine at 8am this morning, another year of 4.5

I hope that's the case. I don't like how tons of people get bumped only to appeal back down. They crushed the 40+ league I play in with bump ups to 5.0

One guy on our team got bumped as expected. One more guy got bumped and that I did not expect, he’s not that much better than me. If he’s a 5.0 then I’m within striking distance of it.

One guy got bumped down, as he should have.
Didn’t have time to check more before the site exploded.

And if your area adopts the 4-court format, little place for them to play in 40+ now.

Got bumped from 3.5 to 4.0. No room for me on the 4.0 40+ team at my club. I guess I'm a free agent.

Was surprised I got bumped. Only played 7 guys that got bumped all year and lost to 5 of them. Only win was at Nationals against two guys from Texas, which I'm guessing got me bumped up. Doesn't help that all of my partners in postseason were massively underrated looking at TLS, TennisRecord and schmke's estimates.

Last year, schmke missed on me. This time, he was right. Now I get to dial back tennis and enjoy my kids' athletics, I guess.

One note: Both of Texas's 3.5 singles players got the dreaded double-bump. They weren't cheating at all...

Of the 17 guys I was watching, TR had predicted none being bumped, four were. The lowest "TR rating" was a 3.75, so quite a surprise for him. MidW region.

Funny enough the three highest rated TR guys all stayed.

As I mentioned earlier, I had 7 guys get bumped on my 4.0 18+ team. I've heard from 5 of the 7 and 4 of those had their appeals denied to move back down. So maybe there won't be as many appeals granted as I thought this year.

We had 13 guys get bumped up.

What sections?

Can someone remind me. For those that are granted an appeal back down to where they were. Are those subject to a 3 strike rule for the rest of this year? I always forget how that works.

I play in the PACNW and all the bumps to 4.5 all made sense for Portland area IMO. It was all guys on teams for the most part that had been crushing the section for the past few years. Good to mix up the power.

Dang just looked at the numbers in my local area.

Here's a breakdown of the number by gender and level.

Nothing very surprising on the ladies' side.

Female% just bumped up% just bumped down
3.010.0%5.63%
3.55.49%5.27%
4.05.21%2.43%
4.55.131.28

But look at the men.

Male% just bumped up% just bumped down
3.08.5%3.1%
3.514.4%1.8%
4.016.9%7.3%
4.528.0%0.0%

Seems like an effort to get more players in the 4.5 ranks. 4.5 M increased from 87 to 118 players. That's nuts.
