I’m bored already! 2020 can’t come soon enough!!

I’ve started a countdown for AO.
It is 5 weeks 1 day until it starts.

Feels like forever!!:oops::oops::oops:

I thought I would just relax this Christmas in full peace, resting on Rafas INSANE year!
But No.

It’s rather the opposite I realised now. When he hasn’t had this kind of great year, nursing injures or whatever, I want him to have time to heal up and get ready.

I’m also having some high hopes for Tpas and Zverev.

just can’t wait for all of this to start!
I don’t want to watch old matches to fill my time, I want fresh new 2020!

How are you all doing w this?

I remind myself Djokovic will play before Australian Open so the wait isn't that long. Rafa will play the ATP Cup just after the New Year as well so cheer up. :D

But seriously, no tennis gives me better focus on bigger priorities. There is no "maybe just this one more set/match" to potentially make me procrastinate during the off season.

Planning to renew Tennis TV subscription next week and re-watch some great BO3 match from 2017-2019 period each evening. Have Zverev v Nadal Rome, Federer v Thiem IW, Cilic v Djokovic Queens on my mind. :sneaky:

Though I don’t have this impatient feeling, even think a break is a bit too short with Nadal’s first match coming very soon.

You should appreciate the off season more. I definitely felt I need rest after that USO 2019. It was one of the toughest tournaments I ever watched. I didn't sleep for a few nights and there were lots of nerves in almost every match. Good that it ended well. But the season wasn't over, there were big doubts about Nadal finishing the year as number 1. Luckily, that also ended well. Then we also had that DC final and it ended well. Enough is enough, fans also need to rest sometimes. To be honest, it is bad that the off season is shorter this time. I wish Nadal didn't play anything before AO.

Think this is the first time I felt so impatient. Maybe because Rafa isn’t injured and also I look forward to see how it will go w some younger players as well. 4 years ago very little interesting happened imo in terms of old and young players.

For me it's the opposite. This time I don't really want the new season the begin so fast. 2019 kinda broke the balance of the last few years. Nadal is now closer than ever to the slam record and that puts lots of pressure. I didn't care about the slam record for a few years now, I accepted that it will never happen. But now it suddenly looks close, so I don't know what to think. We don't know how will he play in slams next year, and we don't know if it will end well or not. The real battle is only about to begin.

After many years I think it is no difference what I get done if there is tennis or not.

ATP cup.. so that’s like 3 weeks from now?

The thirst for tennis is real. I have had to make a living in the Odds & Ends forum... because I get so tired of the constant goat debates on here. What's a fella to do

I am probably in the minority here but I always truly enjoy this time of the year. Work is really busy as we're wrapping things up for the year-end but two weeks of holidays are coming and it already feels so relaxing. Can't trade this for anything else!

Plus, I will probably not be here once the new year comes as I'll need to hibernate again.

But undoubtedly 2020 is looking mighty interesting. And AO adds much colour and interest to my life otherwise the winter would feel longer! Just when I think I can't take winter any more, AO comes around like a fresh breath of air.

The action is starting this coming Thursday in Abu Dhabi. Although it's an exhibition, none of them will give an inch to the other. Looking forward to a possible Nadal/Med and Djoker/Tsitsipas.
Just feels like the WTF Finals was so recent that these guys have barely even had a rest. Then there's the ATP cup in the new year. The schedule is so rigorous that you can't help but wonder if these guys are overplaying and risking injury.

I do not see the point on playing this exhibition for players like Nadal and Djokovic.
With the ATP Cup is enough preparation for them, but I hear the Serbian will play in Adelaide, right?

Yes, he's signed on for Adelaide. I think Djokovic is hellbent on getting back that #1 ranking and wants to get it as soon as humanly possible. Could end up costing him physically.

Maybe he thinks Serbia will not do so well in ATP cup and little play. So maybe signed up for Adelaide to get more play/practice. But if he plays a lot in ATP cup he might not play Adelaide anyway. He can withdraw from it, sometimes they do this.

2020's gonna be the most hyped up year between Fedal. #19 and #20, never ever been in this situation before I just can't wait until it starts. Imagine if Rafa wins #20 at the AO stamping his authority towards getting the GS lead right off the bat. The wait between AO and the next slam is gonna be even longer than anything before LOL

2020 is a MONUMENTAL year for Fedal and the records. It all boils down to this. Been so many years! So much hard work, injuries and drama.

Oh. Do you think it will be good?

Yep I like what I've seen from the trailers. I couldn't have asked for a better modern remake than a PS4 version tbh

Not surprised Sephiroth sounds like your typical cool, edgy anime villain lol Japanese love giving cool sounding voices to their villains.

I'm not sure it will have the charm of the original though. I know the original the combat was easy, but you did have to actually think and plan a bit for that to happen. I'm not so sure about this new combat system and if it will be engaging or just a bit of a repetitive mind numbing experience. I like the graphics doe. Last trailers I saw of it were many months ago though.

Do you like tennis in general or will you watch less tennis when Fed retires?
Personally I am glad I already have other young players I find exiting to watch. It was a time I dreaded Rafa retirement, but not anymore. The next gens now are great to watch in my opinion.

Well I've been watching tennis since I was a kid and fed didn't turn pro. I was the fan of Andre in the earlier days, then came Roger, and nowadays I find myself rooting for the likes of Thiem, Shapovalov, FAA from nextgen. So it's not gonna affect my tennis viewing in general if Roger retires (which I hope isn't before 2022).
I think both of us will be having an argument about who's greater, FAA or Stefanos or Medvedev in 2025 (if we both stay on this forum) :p
You'd be rooting for med (imo) and me for FAA/stef

Tsitsipas, Felix, Zverev for me! Shapo is growing on me, he is maturing.
Med is older and not a young player like that ;)

Hmmm I would actually want to play this. I haven't owned a console since gamecube though so I'll have to wait for it to come out for PC. Used to love RPGs, but they started to get pretty lame around FF12.

I'm not a big gamer like I used to be but I still have a PS4 around if something I liked from the previous gen comes up, most of the stuff these days is remakes, reboots anyway.
