Not sure if discussed , just my 2 cents, but was told by TW rep in Australia that the new ezone uses the actual DR mould

Judging by feedback, its different layup

Buut thats what i was told, rep is fairly in the know usually but i guess we'll see soon

Anyone who owns prototype and a DR can compare?

Based on this video I watched, it does not appear the mold is the same. He lays the new one side by side with the DR and you can see the shape is not the same.

The headshape is more reminiscent to the current Vcore Pro line to me; More square-ish than Ai/Dr, but not as square as Xi/current gen Ezone (or Yonexes of old)

Is it just me, or does the new 2020 Ezone look just like the Ezone DR Blue paint job?

I think there's no black paint this time, only shades of lighter blue and darker blue.

I don’t like the fact it is even rounder than the dr. I d take ai or dr over the new one.
It is basically like AI. Anyway - between Ai, DR, Ezone and new one the differences are so subtle at least for the 100 model that I bet if you blackout all of them nobody would see any difference during play.

I wonder if the Ezone 100 will be more comfortable than any other tweener?
Def more than Pure Aero, Pure Drive, Wilson Ultra and somewhere around Beast. Ezone lines feel less stiff than RA indicates and it should be around 66-68.

Dm that s fast. I do not understand a word they say. Can anyone provide a translated overview on this ?

Before you buy...... in the past i owned most of the dr98/100 line of racquets even the extended one. Dr98 Lite leaded up was the best of them all.....I really hope the flex on the throat to have returned on the new ezone. Never understood why they screwed the dr recipe with its successors.

WOWWWW W WW<… Swingweight of 314. This could be the yonex racket I have been searching for. hopefully yonex will also release the Extended version of this racket which will have SW of about 324. That would be Perfection

If they did go back to the Ai/Dr mold, from the TW photos, it looks as if they have changed the drill pattern. In the very least, to incorporate their version of 'parallel drilling' in the mains (you can see how much further down the throat the 5th main is):

Additionally, they've stuck w/ the channel grommets.

So can the new Ezone 98 surpass the Legendary greatness of ezone DR 98 rackets ?

Prefer the prototype look. New blue just looks ok. A step back from the looks of the DR98 and last years versions. I currently play with a dr 98 so I guess I'll give it a play test along with the clash 98 and see which one wins out.

they put new vibration dampner in the handle so it should be great still even with stiff RA. You will get Shapavolov kind of power while maintaining Control of Djokovic. Try the Demo from TW and you will see
All those stiff frames that have some sort of a dampening system just seem more comfortable but the numbers don't lie. If it's a RA 69 it's a stiff frame no matter what dampening system it has

but don't you want to play just like Shapavolov ?

It will feel softer than less stiff Pure Strike anyway. You expected 60 RA for a tweener frame?

Michelle saying its similar to the DR in comfort, one of them is saying it felt stiffer than the last EZONE and one of them saying it felt like an in-between the DR and EZONE ... I don't know who to believe.
Why not both? Stiff/flex and comfort are two independent characteristics. Traditionally, the correlation is that as stiffness increases, discomfort increases as well. But who's to say Yonex didn't crack the code with M40x? We'll see...

You're right, though I'll have to wait for peoples reviews or demo it myself to see... I'm a little sceptical. Some of the testers' opinions on the racquet were conflicting. I agree with Michelle, they need a 3rd racquet in this lineup, would love to see something like they did with the VCORE Pro HD. Maybe something heftier or with more swingweight.

If this new version is both more round than the former versions, and it also has these new lengthened strings (liner tech) - the conclusion must unfortunately be then that the control should be worse!
