None of the American or British commentators talk over play. The Russians and some of the eastern European commentators do this. You will not find a single instance where Mary or Mac ever talked over play.
You CANNOT BE SERIOUS! Mrs, Carrillo. You are being sarcastic I hope--often sarcasm doesn't translate well over the internets. If you're serious, I have no further response for you--I'll let the records speak-over play for themselves.
So, you're the one the camera's focus on getting to your seat while the point is in progress, and when attending a classical music concert talks on his cell phone. What makes tennis different from other "games" is that it requires intense focus to appreciate its subtleties like hearing the sound the ball makes coming off the racket. If play is too slow and "dull" for you, DVR the matches and play them in fast-forward.

Obviously just my subjective opinion, but I don't like how Paul is very basic and boring. He might be good for the casual fan, but for me it is hard to listen to his cliche boring commentary.
Whoever the British woman is that does the courtside interviews at the ATP Cup, she is a disgrace.
She announced the players and captains when they walked onto court, and she pronounced Spain's captain as "Rog" instead of "Roig", as in she pronounced the G completely as if it was Roger....
And then after Rafa won they gave him the ATP Sportsmanship trophy, and she was interviewing him and she said "You only have to win 10 more to have as many as Roger....."
Where do they find these people?
Do they owe the BBC a favor or something, because why is a lazy/disrespectful British woman given this job when you have all those former Australian players that could do?

She must not have followed Rafa's career much if she couldn't pronounce Roig, he's been working with Rafa for a lot of years.
Most of the players on the tour do speak English--but if they don't then Tennis Channel should provide closed captioning. I can see why coaches might not want to tip off opponent's team on their tactics and strategies on the changeovers--I personally like the "net-side" chats as they're another learning opportunity for us on the other side of the tube--the men should do it too--free lessons for the rest of us!
Watching tennis is supposed to be boring--if you want excitement watch golf or women's curling. Carillo is WAY too exciting--she needs to quit talking over the points especially during men's matches extolling sirena and wozzy's fan-girl relationship. Mary (the queen of the gratuitous guffaw) should stick with doing play by play at the AKC show and grand marshalling parades. There are so many other commentators who have much more knowledge of tennis and respect for the game in front of them I would prefer listening to like Pam Shriver. Give me Annecone or Arias over Mac and Mary anyday--they know something about tennis and don't push their own agendas--like their art openings and their mother's birthdays.
Nah, Shriver with her coaching commentary puts me to sleep and Arias is a bore. Arias also has that annoying nasal sounding voice. But, if it’s boring tennis commentary you want, well you got it.
Almost ALL tennis commentators are ex-players and not professional announcers that work in other sports, where the people behind the mikes are paid a lot more and have voices that are intelligible. Maybe if the CEO of Tennis Channel would pay for some diction lessons for his staff instead of bundling for his favorite politicians they would be more professional. Given that reality, I place substance over style, preferring knowledgeable commentary over the quality of voice. One of my favorites was an Eastern European lady announcer who had a very deep accent--but an EXCELLENT fluency of the English language and knowledge of tennis that made her quite endearing and informative.
