Very nice. But i think you exaggarate it too much, and in fact, you are confused. Doubles players use different signs to signal their partner about the tactic they are going to choose for the next point. And this is what we can observe in the picture.

thumb is left - pinky is right - i assume middle is body?

watching live i didn't think they had been laughing due to that.. i thought it was due to the fact that the tv screen being broadcasted was showing the opponents what hand signal rafa was doing.

but i could also see the middle finger being the case of the whole "give me a hand signal" "heres your signal" blah blah blah.

but disgraceful? nooo.

For those wondering what the context is, Murray just beat Robredo in this final after saving 5 match points. A month earlier, he beat Robredo in the Shenzhen final after saving 5 match points
