Now that the Fed-Djoko SF seems inevitable who will Nadal tank to before the final?

he’d be stupid to not even give it a shot against Djokovic/Fed in the final.

I think he’d rather take another beatdown from Djoker like last year than tank before the match, this isn’t a pointless Masters QF where you’d rather keep a H2H record.
0-16 though

He probably won't tank, he will come up with some #GOATY excuses instead.
Like "very difficult conditions", "very slow balls and court", "i wasn't fully prepared just like last year", pick any of those and we're already supposed to announce yet another moral victory for RAFA

Nadal would have a good chance against Federer. Close to even chances about 50:50 like AO 2017 was. Against Djokovic he’d have a small chance. Either way Nadal will want to reach another slam final to give himself a chance at 20 and matching feds record.

Rafa has a tough draw though and it wouldn’t surprise me if he doesn’t reach the final this year. He has 3 tough rounds to win.

No top player wants to tank a slam. As these are the biggest tournaments to win and Rafa on the verge of creating real history. Things happen in slams so Rafa will not tank regardless.

Today is going to be easy for Nadal . Court is slow and Nick will probably be only be able to serve less than 10 aces

Next round will be out of form Thiem with a tired Rublev / Medvedev / Stan in the SF. How is he going to tank in this scenario

Federer almost lost to Millman while Nadal destroyed Millman in 3 sets at the USO 2019. Federer also lost 1 set against Fucsovics, while Nadal has yet to lose a set in the tournament.

No evidence suggests that current 2020 Federer would be the favorite against Nadal in a hypothetical final, hence no reason to tank.

Rafa will like his chances against this Fed, who looks slow this year. Additionally, Millman has worn him out and Fucs/ Tennys are similar breed. Huge , consistent baseline hitting.

Fed is going to be cooked and it would be a great effort to even beat Raonic.

Hopefully Pierre/Ljube/Seve can work out some magic and squeeze a couple more years from Roger

Rafa will beat Federer in straight sets in the 2020 AO Final if they meet :)
Rafa doesn't like this surface at night especially, but its a surface that Federer is struggling to serve aces on.....so Rafa will return the Federer serve better than ever.

Nadal is my least favourite out of the Big 3 but he has never tanked to avoid anyone and always thinks he can win. Also a final losing to say Djokovic is better than a 4th round exit to Nick

Here's some reality for you:

0-6 against Fed outside of clay since 2014 AO.

I watch today's tennis, so I know better than to be stuck in 2017 :)
2017 was the last time they met on hardcourt, so its irrelevant and they are different players now.

The AO 2020 is played in 2020, not 2017. Federer hasn't defeated Nadal on hard courts since 2017. While Federer almost lost to Millman (#47) and lost another set to Fucsovics (#67), Nadal destroyed Millman in 3 sets in the first round of the USO 2019 and has yet to lose yet this AO. Current Federer is by no means favorite against Nadal in a hypothetical AO final.

You mean like when Nadal chickened out of his match vs Federer in Indian Wells 2019?

Fed in his most crapola form didn't to that in 2013 IW. Nadal just didn't have the balls to show up for the inevitable spanking.

Yeah yeah yeah Nadal was in top form at the 2019 AO, was handling bakery products. Met Djokovic - got pwned.
2019 Wimbledon - went through a very tough draw, was in top form again, Fed was a bit shaky, was even in a bit of a danger zone vs Nishikori - they met in the SF and Nadal crapped his pants again.

0-16 outside of clay for 6+ years against them

It is hilarious to see some say he would have good chances vs Federer, since whether that is true or not, it is irrelevant. It is clearly going to be Djokovic in the final, and Nadal has no chances against him on this court.

And Nadal beat Federer in a Slam outside of grass just once too , with a 5th set. What's your point?
Please do not spread fake information. Nadal has defeated Federer in 3 (not 1) Grand Slam matches outside grass.

Australian Open 2009 = Nadal defeated Federer in 5 sets
Australian Open 2012 = Nadal defeated Federer in 4 sets
Australian Open 2014 = Nadal defeated Federer in 3 sets

Following that logic, Federer chickened out in the Rome 2019 QF to avoid facing Nadal in the SF and in the 2014 ATP cup finals to avoid facing Djokovic.

OP once again combining Fed with Djoker. It's the only way to make Fed look tough.

Nadal is 3-1 vs. Fed at the AO and probably should have won all four. Who is afraid of that?

Nadal won't tank anything. He is gonna do everything he can to win the title just like the others.

LOL

A Nadal fan calling Fed a chicken is hilarious. You mean when Fed chickened out of the gazillion matches on clay in 2005-2011? Wasn't it like 14 out of 25 matches on clay until mid 2011? xDDDDDDDDD

If Federer beats Novak, he will have found great form and should be the favourite against Nadal. Although he isn't beating Novak, so.

Didn't Federer skip a whole Grand Slam like Roland-Garros in 2017 and 2018 because he thought he had no chance against Nadal? Nadal will never skip a Slam if healthy because he fears no one.

It's not misinformation, you need to learn how to read more carefully. None of the latter two went to a 5th set.

Federer has only defeated Nadal once in a Slam outside grass, while Nadal has defeated Federer 3 times in a Slam outside grass. Not the same.

Nadal doesn’t tank and he’s trying to protect his weeks at #, which is important legacy-wise. The question is inherently stupid in any case. Nadal played 3.5 hours a few weeks ago in an exo against Tsitsipas, he’s a fighter, as anyone who had watched tennis for longer than 3 days knows.

No, the original post from Lew II was about how many matches has Federer won against Nadal in Slams outside grass and then you completely changed the topic to 5 sets, which made no sense. Is there anything wrong with you?

Lew II's original comment:
You're too confident, OP, Federer beat Nadal in a Slam outside grass just once, with a 5th set.

His point was that Federer has only beaten Nadal once in a Slam outside grass, and that because it went to 5 sets, it was not an easy victory.

And then you completely changed the topic to this:

And Nadal beat Federer in a Slam outside of grass just once too , with a 5th set. What's your point?

What the hell has this to do with Lew II's original comment?

Absolutely correct.
Being a fed or djok fan doesn't mean we have to insult rafa. We love and respect him for some aspects
