There does seem to be an acceptance between nadal and djokovic fans about how great each one is. I am not sure why Federer fans dislike both so much. They are nice guys just like Federer is.Because Rafa fans applaud and recognize the Greatness of The Earth's Mightiest, unlike the salty and bitter Federinas. That's all there is to it, Papi.
Shame there cannot be a consensus thay there are arguably the 3 greatest sportspeople ever currently active and just enjoy it rather than claim weak draws or weak eras etc.

I dont think Nadal and Djokovic fans have an issue with the other player breaking records. Each fanbase prefers their own guy but also respects the other.

Maybe but I'm talking realistically now. Most people have already accepted that #20 will be broken. Even Federer himself has accepted that reality. So the race is basically between Nadal and Djokovic as to who will be the Slam leader.

Of course and I expect Nadal to win French Open. However, Novak has a very good chance at the other 2 slams. Novak is at best joint 2nd favourite at the French but can’t see Rafa losing at Paris.

Djokovic beat sh*tty servebot Raonic and a dead old grandpa Federer coming into the finals. So he was completely full of energy. I think it will be a lot tougher if he has to go through any 2 or 3 of Zverev, Tsitsipas, Kyrgios, Medvedev and Thiem in succession. He only played 1 of them and even then it was a massive struggle to win it.
Ah, yes, that most mature reason for doing deliberately ill-intentioned things: “He did it first!”

Djokovic destroyed Raonic who had straight setted Tsitsipas and Cilic, and who by far had the biggest serve of anybody in the 2nd week. Djokovic took everything Thiem threw at him today despite being below his best for 2 sets, and still won although you kept predicting his defeat. Lol.

To be fair, in real lIfe it's nearly impossible to enjoy childish wars like what we see in the chronicles of TTW. I used to think we should be more respectful, but then again this the anonymous internet. You can safely enjoy being a horrible persona on it.

Djokovic was in excellent form this tournament but he lost the plot today. For one thing, I don't know how let himself get dehydrated during a match of this caliber and two, his attitude was poor at times. He really needs to stop doing that and never bring that negative energy into a Slam final. I really really did not like that or how edgy he was this tournament. If he hadn't gone off the boiler like that, he probably would have won this in 4 sets. But yes, Thiem is very dangerous and has massively improved on hardcourt. He is going to be a problem for Nadal and Djokovic going forward if he stays on this track.

He was a mess. He was being heckled. And when he got the time violations he served quicker prob was not prepared for that. He started to play calm in the 3rd set. He needs to play like that.

Did he get heckled? I felt the crowd really got behind Thiem but I didn't realize that. I did see his own supporters got really loud in that 4th set and I think that helped re-energize him. He started of well though and just blistering the ball, then started unraveling in the beginning of the 2nd. I'm glad he was able to get himself together and tough this one out though.

Yeah he was getting major saltly fans. Even Booed his aces and good serves. He was going at them which i think helped him win. He had several ef you angry games where he just blasted serves and blasted ground strokes and vollies. Won most of them too.

He might have been over compensating in the beggining wanting to.show thiem who was the boss. Basically cooled off and thiem got warm. Nerves. Thiem is rough for him.

It was that 1 all game in the 2nd set. Thiem hit a backhand down the line winner and he felt it was because he didn't hit a good enough shot and got very negative out of the blue, all of sudden. It was only 15-30 at that point and he started barking to his box and unraveling. This is how the match started to turn. There was no need to get upset there since he won the first set and was in control. Then bam, he makes two double faults and gets broken and let Thiem take the momentum. The train derailed and he saved it just in the nick of time but yes I do think nerves played a role.

Thiem is erratic even when he's in the lead. Multiple double faults and unforced errors on his own serve and allowing the likes of Nadal and Djokovic to break back and even the match, and they didn't even have to do anything other than let him implode. Thiem isn't ever going to win a Slam if this is how he deals with the big moments. It's not talent. It's just his mindset. He can't deal with pressure in the big moments unfortunately.

Thiem is probably my favorite player on the tour right now besides Djokovic, and I have believed in this kid for years now when people on here said he was not that great and a failure. With that said, Djokovic is my main guy who I have supported even before Thiem became a pro.

i would also say its his stroke production. he puts every fibre of his being into every shot...when you are going full till @ 100%...tough to control all the time.
compare to say Djokovic who generates lesser power but its so controlled, and he has mastery of the court and ball direction.
stan can generate incredible power but he does so in a controlled repeatable swing.
watching thiem catch the bh late all the time and hit half of them off-balance..its no wonder he misses in some big moments.
