I'd like to see a review of these with those who have owned a lobster or tennis tutor. This thing looks slow and looks like it'll break pretty quickly.
I just received my shipping info.. mine is arriving this coming monday!
Just out of curiosity, what was your backer number?
yea..based on the specs... it's slow..top speed is only 40+mph
I just received my shipping info.. mine is arriving this coming monday!
also received a letter from them.. getting lots of free stuff!
when stock is available.. a case of 72balls of Wilson Triniti!
- Oscillator
- Telescopic ball tube
- cell phone/camera holder
- triple racquet bag
- remote control
i guess this is their way to make up for the long delays...
Instructional video..
And the ball case... Gotta hold out hope! The oscillator/remote are the only things worth anything.
There's only one wheel?! Hmmm...
Also the attacheable plate on the bottom looks a bit weak...
Anybody else with shipping confirmations? I'm backer #200-something and have yet to hear anything...
Eighteen months ago I wrote on here and said I didn't expect to receive my Slinger in October 2018. I'm happy to say that 16 months after the original delivery date, I received my Slinger today. I have it on the charger right now and I hope to break it out this weekend. I already have a league match so I don't know if I'll have time to use the Slinger, but I will try. I originally paid extra for the oscillator and remote start\stop. They are apparently sending those free to original backers and I've read from others that we may be getting reimbursed for our extra payments. We'll see if that happens.
people been waiting years for this, some getting and no reviews?
got mine last Monday 2/24.
and did an hour or so testing on Thursday.
I had mostly decent used Pro-Penn Balls..
1 machine carries all, 100 balls, 3 racquets, water bottles, ball pick-up tube. etc.
the machine is huge..but it takes up less space comparted to hauling my Silent Partner, Nike racquet Bag, and Gamma ball bag/Hopper.
Looks a lot better than the original Prototype. Build quality is very good.
the machine is really quiet compared to my Silent Partner Edge.
the Ball Boy Feature is pretty nice to have...
you can just stand there at the service line and have the ball tossed to you everytime.. and not stuff your pockets
with half dozen balls.
yes its heavy on the top-spin.. but at advanced level 45mph top speed.. I was pleasantly suprised that it had plenty of pace...
more than enough for basic ball drills.
Oscillating base is works well.. and will gets your heart pumping all over the court.
basic on/off remote for ball feed and Oscillator. No loss of signal from over 2 courts away.
but machine lacked manual controls.
More advance players on the court saw the machine and were very impressed. especially after they heard what I paid for it.
and wanted to get one... sorry to tell them.. Kickstarter was all sold out. One offered to buy my machine for more than what
I paid.! I will probably sell this when I get the Hydrogen Proton Smart machine later this summer.
for under $250.. this was worth the wait. no complaints. very happy with it.
It’s 33lbs without balls. Battery life varies on the settings you choose. Max settings 1.5 battery life. Normal settings 3 hours I believe.Hey guys what's the weight of the machine and the battery life?
haven't had a chance to weight it...the machine empty is lighter than my Silent Partner..
so far I've used it for over an hour.. 150 or so balls.
the User Manual is stating if used on Medium setting with Oscillation: 3hrs.
1.5hrs on Max Speed and Feed Rate.

33 lbs & 45mph? They raised the money on a 12 lbs (5.5kg) weight, 80mph top speed and much nicer design. From https://www.kickstarter.com/project...ost-portable-tennis-ball-launcher/description
Specs
Sure it's inexpensive, but with all those zippers and a fabric shell, neither of which is likely to withstand the test of time, low speed, fixed spin level, bulky, no vertical oscillation, no drills (except for horizontal oscillation if you buy that feature), no ability to change speed or interval using the remote, inability to do DIY repairs and only a 1 year warranty you get what you pay for. I already have a friend at my court who said he'd sell it for what he paid as they just did not deliver what was promised. He said it was more of a toy to him and he doubted it would last compared to Spinfire, Lobster, Tennis Tutor, etc. which are known to still work 10 years later.
It probably does have a place for those on a really low budget but it doesn't seem to do any more than the Matchmate Rookie which you can get for the same price as Slinger without the horizontal oscillation optional add-on (if Slinger doesn't change their retail price as they have everything else) but with double the warranty of Slinger - $479 with free shipping and has a metal case that will last forever. Also, Matchmate has withstood the test of time.
My gf got hers. We tried it out yesterday. It’s ok. Has nice topspin but not very fast. It is not that heavy pretty easy to get around. We ordered ours the same day and live together. I have not heard about mine yet. Which is odd.
You can probably sell your second one for more than what you paid...
after players on the court saw mine and my friends machines......they're offering more for it..
They dropped the speed because whatever part they were using was having longevity issues. I would assume going to something beefier would add more weight and take up more room so they opted against it. I was one of the original backers too, but I'm not really upset about it. I just want it to arrive already.
That's called "confirmation bias". Folks who "believe" have spent the money and time and waited, and waited for these things to arrive. They don't want to feel like they made a HUGE mistake by sticking by the product and so they say they are satisfied with the purchase and are really enjoying their machine.most owners seem happy with their slinger...

You're really just proving my point, but I'm glad you like it.Ehhhhhh....... I can’t say that I agree with you on that. We’re all entitled to our opinions of course, however I can honestly say for the amount the paid, I have no problems with Slinger. Am I happy about the long delays and endless amount of excuses? Of course not, but for the price even at retail of what Slinger offers, it’s not a bad deal at all. The Slinger company is in it’s infant stages and because of demand, I’m sure it will improve. They realize how much of strain the delays caused, they added a lot of free add ons and are even throwing in a case of free Wilson Triniti balls. I’m not even upset that I’m one of the backers that paid for all the extras. I know when things settle down a bit, they will make it right. (Plus I have my email receipts/invoices)
No it’s not sending balls out at 80mph, but that doesn’t mean the machine itself is lacking or insufficient. It’s a portable ball machine that delivers a lot of topspin and oscillates. I think tennis players of any level can get something from using it. The ball boy feature (it tosses you a ball to serve) is absolutely outstanding. So all in all I say it’s a good product.
