People who refuse medical treatment for their kids over religious beliefs also have good intentions.

Scientists tell the truth, FFS!

Maybe you should talk to the thalidomide generation.

Like most people, scientists endeavour to do their best, but they are regrettably prone to major errors and responsible for their fair share of tragedy.

lol the IQ of some people (you included) is extremely low in these parts
I actually work at a hospital in health care and have spoken to many physicians about risk and outcome. Don't believe everything you see and read. Media is always meant to divide and instill fear.

He and Jelena will be completely fine. They are both young and healthy. I have known a number of people that have tested positive and have shown little if any symptoms. Besides being over 60, obesity and diabetes are at the highest comorbidities for the disease. Very few young health people suffer severe symptoms or hospitalizations.

While that is undoubtedly true, the danger is in whom they have been in contact with especially older people.

It's not just about symptoms but infecting other people who aren't as healthy as he is which is the problem.

are you suggesting that P Dibala is old and in poor health status?
just for your info, P Dibala is a pro football player, in Juventus squad, Italy, Serie A

Also let's not pretend like having the virus is ok just because you won't show any symptoms that's some mental gymnastics on a whole new level

Good for him and Jelena. Then they can get over it and move on with their lives, while the rest of world hunkers down in fear.
Well, one small study, which is expected to soon be conducted on a much larger scale, suggests that antibodies formed from having had the virus, may not last more than a few months. In other words, it is possible/likely that having had the virus does not guarantee you long-term immunity

I tend to think his position as President is now untenable - which it wouldn't have been if he'd handled this better at the start.

Nick Kyrgios is a tw*t but he does have a point here. Players lower down the scale have been lambasted for far less.

He may have been done as President even without all of these positive tests. Looks inevitable now. Lol @ Nick with his guaranteed 2 cents.

Yes and I am sure they will quarantine while positive. The highest risk is you have people walking around that are positive that don't even know it. I would love to be able to be tested repeatedly like all these athletes are.

A comment in the Daily Mail online

Bet he’s actually gutted about not outdoing the Laver Cup with his exo, not improving his public image, not improving his fandom vs Federer and Nadal, and not being able to match Fedal GS records this year.

I guess he is asymptomatic as he only tested himself after he knew about Grigor.
What is your take, who was the first to get infected?

Don't know if you are a Djokovic fan or not. Just stating that I respect fans who are not behaving like fanatics. Most sensible people feel Djokovic's actions deserve condemnation and some form of punishment.
Respect from you is the last thing any sane person would want judging from the things you've been writing the last. Threads after threads of proof (that dissaper, but I've saved the best bits :)) that your understending of law and justice are that of a child. You don't stick with anything. Were you the one who said that he won't announce the result if it's positive or was that "the other guy"?

Also, why does everyone "forgets" to add the last part? :
"I am extremely sorry for each individual case of infection. I hope that it will not complicate anyone’s health situation and that everyone will be fine. I will remain in self-isolation for the next 14 days, and repeat the test in five days.”

Hopefully it was mostly contained to players who were knee deep in Dimitrov.

The rash of positive results may mean that Dimi more the victim than the most lethal carrier on the planet. This may be confined to the Croatian leg of the Adria tour. Will we ever know the contact tracing?

You can go to a test lab and get tested. My wife got tested 2 times because she was pregnant, I got tested 1 time so I can be with her during the birth.

This is very sad news and sad to hear so many others that were infected. Everybody that was involved took this too lightly and are now paying the price. Rich and famous people tend to live in their own bubble but this is a wakeup call, especially for Djokovic who I don't think has handled something like this well mentally at all, and has unraveled. First is to take care of his health and his family's health, and I pray that everyone is ok, and then he needs to do a little self-reflection and recognize his mistakes and how to grow from this.

With that said, the pile up on solely Djokovic by the establishment is excessive and ridiculous. There are MULTIPLE people at fault here starting with the Serbian government who thought this would be a good idea to have mass gatherings and then whoever organized this. There is plenty of blame and the players themselves are to blame as well as Djokovic, since all did what they wanted to do and no one made them. The hypocrisy from America especially is staggering considering all the mass gatherings here and their bone head President who just had a 6,000+ rally in a hot zone of coronavirus. You would think Djokovic is the only one putting himself at risk when thousands here have if you look at what's coming from the media. The idea to punish Djokovic is also excessive and ridiculus since he broke no laws and didn't force these peope to participate. All the way around, this is just a major debacle but I hope a learning lesson for all involved.

Also I'm not all that sure Fedal have that great PR, they just have everyone agreeing evething they do is great.

They're professional, realistic and they know what they want to achieve for their players. I wish Fed had never gone for the whole "gentleman/perfect" thing around 2006, I liked his more natural persona around 04/05. But he wanted to play in the big league money wise and his team achieved that for him.

Novak's team just don't seem to know what they want to achieve and how to do it.

I am just constantly amazed by the overwhelming fear this virus has caused. Yes you are at risk, but you are at risk of viruses and diseases and bacteria everyday you leave your house, not to mention car crash, crime, etc. The only difference is people psychologically feel that whatever they are exposed to modern medicine will heal. In this case because there is no known vaccine or definite cure, people are terrified.

This lol, it's not Ebola or whatever. But the consequences for the job market and the economy as a whole are huge nonetheless.

I'm trying hard not to judge Djokovic here.
This is absolutely the worst case scenario. I watch a TV show called This is Us (a guilty pleasure indeed) and two of the characters play a game in which they imagine the absolute worst case scenario in any given situation.
For Djokovic's Adria tour, this is getting there. Still a few worse cases to go. I hope we don't go there.

Ps: I wish nothing but the best for Novak, his wife and everyone else who has tested positive for this illness. As dumb as this gig was, I hope they all make a full recovery ASAP

Djokovic won't be able to sleep at night if you blame him. And will sleep like a baby if you don't

Not interested in the views of a mindless fantatic, thanks.

The fact that you can't comprehend that Djokovic literally has endangered lives and still feel compelled to defend him because he hits a tennis ball really well is embarrassing. He deserves every bit of the negativity coming his way, and more.

There are some scary reports that people who haven't had symptoms have shown signs of lung damage on scans.
I'd not heard this and assumed it had to be a fairly serious case. I would think a 5% loss for a player would be pretty devastating and relegate them to doubles.:censored:

My thoughts are many, and not sure how organized and coherent at the moment.

This has been a very sad period of time worldwide, and for many of us, sports is a great activity and a great release/pastime. Having no sports to play and to follow makes it even tougher - with health, financial and social and family crises mounting in so many ways. But this is first and foremost a health pandemic.

It's a very sad day-plus for tennis that anyone - fans, coaches, players alike - contracted this virus and may have spread it additionally to who knows how many. And it makes me sad and angry to see posters here celebrating that Djokovic (and his wife among others) tested positive.

I get it: Novak organized a tour that had few, if any, safeguards for players, other participants and fans. That part of the blame lies with him, as I voiced from the outset. It showed poor judgment, seemingly bolstered by his very strong - out of the mainstream - health and spiritual beliefs that have previously served him quite well.

Given the situation, I think his statement was okay, if not great. He did express that he was "extremely sorry..." I'm not saying that was necessarily enough, but what would be?

It would just be nice to see, more frequently, a higher level of class and empathy around here.
